I'd love for every single reporter, from the tiny three-reporter office in a small town in Ohio to the Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post, to lay down their pens and notebooks, turn off their computers and recorders, and strike. Stand up, walk out, and show that we are a force. And we're p*ssed.

    If the author is actually a reporter, perhaps he should pick up a newspaper sometime and read it. If he did, he'd find out that all kinds of people all over America actually get laid off--he's nothing special. He's also learn, if he picked up a paper, that newpapers are in serious trouble. Best start working on that big novel.

    After being laid off of a job I'd held for 11 years, you'll find no sympathy here. Where was he when my department was shut down?
