  Only an idiot would suggest increasing domestic production and supply wouldn't help. Many analysts say oil can begin flowing within a year, not the decade the lying liberal propagandists are spewing.

    libs you may be right, but then again I would like to know why if increasing domestic production is so important do we have capped wells all over America?
    Why does American Oil Companies sell oil to other countries?
    Why don't American Oil Companies drill on already leased land?
    Why did American Oil Companies buy up Refineries and then shut them down ( Less than half the refineries open thirty years ago are still in operation )?
    Why are Oil Companies making record profits when Oil is supposedly at its highest price ever?
    Probably another 50 why, but how about starting with these?

      Very good Bubba, that first link brought back memories. I had some lengthy discussions with John Schoen about two years ago concerning the Financial disaster looming for America if we didn't do something at the 2006 election.
      Well we did something and Joe Citizen got another case of BOHICA ( bend over here it comes again).
      Neither the Repubs nor the Demos have any intention of helping America.
      By the way since 2006 has come and gone, you think the Financial landscape has changed for better or worse?
      Something tells me you and I think alike. Think we can ever convince a couple on this thread with us that change is needed?

        The economy is worse since 2006.
        The Dems helped get minimum wage raised. But, the cost of gasoline alone - which is wrecking the price of everything else - has MORE than gobbled up any small gain from minimum wage earnings.
        Unlike the neocons, I do not stand by a Democrat ONLY because they are a Democrat. There are some Republicans out there that have MORE sense than some Democrats.
        I am TOTALLY fed up with Nancy Pelosi. She has squandered any possible attempts to impeach Bush and Cheney for the many crimes they have committed.
        Cindy Sheehan is running against Pelosi for her Congressional seat. I don't see much chance of Cindy winning, but I hope she give Pelosi a "run for her money", because Pelosi needs to be shaken up and understand that she is NOT guaranteed that seat for the rest of her life.
        Debating with some of the neocons on Propeller is like debating with my dog - they don't get it and the response is non-sense.

I voted for this before I read it but now I see it's just the same tired old propaganda we have been hearing for years.
Btw, there isn't always oil on the leases the oil companies hold and it also takes years to complete exploration. Then the oil companies have to face all the law suits from the liberals to keep them from even exploring for oil. Then when the lawsuits are over and the drilling starts the law suits begin again. Also, if the oil companies do not do anything with the leases the property returns to the government within a proscribed number of years.
Learning the truth is easy, getting liberals to write the truth is impossible.

  Wolfie, there are wells on property around where I live that have been capped for almost half my life. Would they produce? I don't know. But when they capped them, they were producing. They were capped when oil was at $17 dollars a barrel. You think they would open them now, wouldn't you?
  Wolfie the truth is the same for liberals and conservatives, what seperates the two ideals is the spin.
  You and your Conservative friends choose to believe that those poor Oil Companies are so misjudged during this time of their record profits. But they just may be using this day and time to squeeze more blood out of the turnip.
  And I am not a liberal. I am an Independent. I think the Oil companies and their friends are gouging America. Why do you think otherwise? Lets discuss this intelligently.

    Having worked with many American oil people, what I have heard is that these wells you speak of produce little and it boils down to cost, is it worth it to keep a well producing 24 hours a day if all it produces is 15 Bbl/day, maybe now they will be uncapped.
    As for do's (lips) statement of getting oil to the refinery; How ? pipeline or truck to a pipeline. Then what, oil refineries are unable to refine more, they are full, so drill all you want, till new refineries or existing ones are upgraded where do you store the oil.
    And a side note; USA is spending 700 Bill a year on foreign oil and we get 23% of that.

      Hannibal you are absolutely correct. Those little ole capped wells dont put out much - But a million of them at 15 barrels per day would provide more than half our consumption.
      Why did the Oil Companies close the Refineries? They have closed about 60% in all over the thirty years. Big Oil said they were not efficient. Let me get my brain engaged.
      If I copuld sell a 100 barrels at a $100 per barrel when I can claim low capacity to refine, and I can only get $50 dollars a barrel if I have full refinery capacity, and if that wellhead oil costs the same per barrel, and finally if I can sell all I can produce at either price - why should I be efficient if my profit is on a % basis. I would have to be out of my gourd to do so.
      How about this novel idea. Citizens build Refineries out of their own pocket(Co-OPs). Pass laws that no U S Oil Company can sell outside the US if demand exceeds stock. All Refined goods must come from citizen refineries first.

        Dealing with oil companies is like Herc and the Hydra, a new head always arises.
        It is obvious that supply has been controlled, but why?
        To me money.
        Now that everyone is screaming about the price, Exxon is advertising their new lithium batteries, WTF, all of a sudden there is a half assed viable electric battery? It has probably been on their shelves for a decade or two.
        Honda and Chev will come out with a car in 18 months that will use solar power for many of there components and this we are supposed to believe is new technology?
        Iran and Iraq, two oil giants are also two countries that nationalized there oil and lo and behold they are the two that are pointed to for military action, by who ? oil men.
        Big stumbling block for a political settlement in Iraq? 80% oil their oil will go to 4 companies.
        So how do you fight this, and also an unheard of corporate war going on is China vs. big oil in Russia, seems Shell and Philips are having problems there now.

  The oil industry argues that they are already required to return leases to the federal government if they are not producing. What they don't say is that they are only forced to return those leases when the lease expires. Meaning they can stockpile leases for five, eight, or ten years before having to give them back.
  You could learn some truth if you actually LOOKED for it instead of being spoon-fed by the likes of FOX News and Rush Limbaugh.

If we are addicted to oil, why not drill for and use our own rather than paying someone else? No contradiction here. This will help the balance of trade and give time to develop alternate sources of energy. By the way oil is used for more things than trans portion and heat. Many sectors of our economy use oil, we can not make asphalt or plastics from windmills.
