        "Cut Across, Shorty" was originally an Eddie Cochran song, recorded in 1960, more than a decade before Python Lee Jackson. Nat Stuckey did it a few years after Cochran, and his is STILL probably the best version.

        hefaal may THINK that he's old enough to remember these things, but he seems to require too many naps.

          Thanks for the musical history lesson, Oscar. The only version I knew was Rod's slam-bang reading on "Gasoline Alley," but I just bought the Nat Stuckey track for 99 cents and am nodding my head even as I type.

            The "Legs" addition at the end was a nice touch.

            He took an "unscheduled" leave of absence in Dallas in the 80's and flew our airline a couple of times. I could tell you some funny stories, but I won't. You did get me to chuckling.

            Thanks JM, your usual great synopsis, but hey, you left out Ranchie, Alpha, and Ani, three of my favorites. And then there was also...
