A music festival with heavy metal, punk, hip-hop and pop music might seem like an unusual place to get baptized, but Creation is a festival with strict rules: no alcohol, no drugs and no sex before marriage.

"It's like the Christian version of Woodstock, basically, except it's neat and clean," said Victor Gibson, 37, from Manheim, Pennsylvania, who brought his wife and five children aged from five to 14 to the four-day festival."

"Take a look back at the crowd," he said, as thousands of fans held their arms in the air, pounding out the beat of a song by Christian band Kutless, whose sound Gibson likened to Metallica. "No rioting, no fighting, nobody getting beat up."

Moshing, slam dancing and HC dancing are meant to be fun for people who like violence.. this is an abomination.

I would have actually gone to this had I known about it sooner. I really would have liked to see these two bands again. Perhaps next year.

"We're five individual guys who have really experienced what the Bible and what the Gospel talks about in meeting Jesus Christ personally,"

They met Jesus personally? Unless there is some time travel device I am unaware of is this really possible? Amazing the deceptions religion creates. They have never met any such being.

Sure there is a feeling in the air and there is the presence of something but you just can't quite put your finger on it. Is it really the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Or could it be the age old phenomenon of mass group belief. Especially considering the whole event revolves around believing in God. Surely he would then make an appearance? Just as when Benny Hinn preaches someone is going to get healed. Would be pretty disappointing otherwise, wouldn't it? But of course both events are illusions. No God makes an appearance, nor is anyone really healed. If reality is discouraged believing the myths then becomes critical, they become the new reality.

Even if their belief is completely erred, is any real harm being done? They are moving the economy, having fun, and no one is on drugs or getting beat up. Sounds like a decent time.

"Meeting Jesus personally" means a deep understanding of Christianity, and specifically of what scripture is trying to convey. No one expects time travel; that's a pretty funny suggestion.

At the original Woodstock, there were a number of passing religious mentions. Faith was a lot more common and mainstream then.

Jesus was technically a communist and a pacifist. These cretins would NOT vote for jesus if he was running today. Jesus was a homeless tree hugger. These are future neo conservative republicans in the making.

It is the "Moshing" that worries me!..:~] I think that it is great for people to have a "Christian Woodstock"! It is difficult sometimes for Christian people to meet other Christian people. This would be one way to meet!

          Good article, thanks STONERS!

          Just for curiosity sake?

I have no doubt someone wearing a yarmulke would have been

welcomed as a brother to this gathering. We must consider

the strong ties that have developed between Israel and the

Christian Zionists. So, no problem there - well, not until

the end of days - eh?

But what do you suppose the reaction would have been if,

say a spouse of a Christian - but a follower of another

religion, would have shown up wearing a head scarf?

Well, we can only pray that Christian kindness would

have been extended. I have my doubts. Religious hysteria

and reason are seldom compatible, IMO. I have always felt

more comfortable knowing that, in America, we have the

Constitution as our foundation to help us sort these

issues out and lead us in the right direction.

I feel these days, sadly............not so much.

Is Christian "moshing" any thing like the ol' punk rock moshing we did in the pit back in the 80's? If not how could it be called moshing? consider when I discovered moshing I didn't drink or do drugs, I was also a virgin at the time. So there you have the three NOs. And yet there was an insane amount of violence, usually not against others but upon oneself. Is violence O.K., but not alcohol(not even wine)?

No... moshing back in the 80s was about violence, alcohol and reckless abandon. This is corny and stupid.

ok, its 2008. its been 2000 years since this dude died on a cross, allegedly. When is humanity gonna wake up and throw off the yolk of tyranny and oppression. Religion is evil. Anything that controls you is oppression. Your own mind is your own god. Think for yourself. Swallowing the pill of ignorrance based on a faith that it outdated, irrelevant and obnoxiously fantanstical is not something to be proud of. These people are brainwashed and thus utterly useless.

The same goes for Jews, muslims, buddists and hindus, just to name a few.

Religion is the breeding ground for hatred and ignorrance. Control and power is all these religions aspire to. Secular people wake up. Its time to fight these maniacs with a constitutional amendment that taxes all religions, bans them from encroaching on the secular population and end funding of any kind to their sick and greedy mouths.

i dont need religion, god bless no one.

Where do you get your morals (if you have any)? Morals generally come from religion and laws come from morals.

Would you suggest anarchy as a better system?

It would seem you are more of a breeding ground for hate and ignorance. But the lord will forgive you. He will grant you eternal salvation in heaven and you will ask for forgiveness for forsaking him.

I bet you feel that if we could all just be atheists, knowing we only a few decades of life only, that we were here by accident and there are no absolutes, things would be far more peaceful, huh? NO "grabbing for the gusto", true?

I wonder if a gay walked into their midst... Would he come out a sheeple, or would they have killed him? You know how it goes, Woodstock wasn't supposed to have pot originally (If'in I've got my music history memory right) but everybody disregarded the rule. Does that mean these guys would disregard the rule of "no violence" when the gay comes up? Backroom torture conversions? I think they could get him to agree to whatever they wanted by just playing their crappy music

Yessir! Procurement and peddling are major themes in American religious circles these days. Theme parks too - it seems. Now we're into Bobble-Head-banging Jesus and BIblical action figures - a sure fire sign of other insecurities. Iconoclasts armed with Zippos and pocket knives would have a field day with all the little dollies. I guess one person's Mosh is another person's mush.

Why do people condemn others that are trying to do right whether it is for Jesus or not?.... The hate from the left seems so telling that they make themselves transparent. Jesus , religion, and the Bible reflect an idea of absolute truths and people hate that. It forces the proverbial finger back at them to judge themselves. The defense mechanism is to mock and make fun of God and anyone who believes in Him. You will be the same liberal men that vote in a islamic extremist into government and then cry out "what have I done", when they come to behead you because you don't bow down to their god...allah. but of course being a liberal...you won't get beheaded because you will bow down as long as that is the general consensus and because the polls say to do it.
