And what make you think that you know better? Have you put your life on the line for anything that you believe from the time that you were born in this world, there are some who catch the foot-in mouth-disease which usually occurs when one don't know know what they are talking about.

Well think God that I have sense enough to know right from wrong, if you know the true then your you should help, but if you know nothing, then you should keep-mouth-close. I see nothing wrong with what we have as a free nations, it the peoples that try to put the evil in the heart like you are trying to do, if you don't like it here you can go other's places that we don't know that you make like. And what wrong with multiculturalism, one would would think that you is not a human being.

And what wrong with multiculturalism, one would would think that you is not a human being.
the fact that you ask that question proves the point.multiculturalism is the dividing of our country.it teaches and points out differences.it is there to keep people separate from one another,to keep us from talking.it say look how weird they are.look at what they do.it builds walls between peoples so they cannot learn from each other because they are different.it prevents people from remembering they are all Americans part of an American culture. cont

our forefathers saw in this country a melting pot as it were of all cultures bringing their good and blending it into a unique American culture.one that took little bits from all and that all shared.it is called assimilation.you want to come here because you see something you like and that something is our culture, our rules, our laws.because of that you must conform to us.and we will accept you into our fold and learn from you and you will lean from us.we will find out that we are not so dissimilar from each other, that we have the same hopes,we have the same dreams,we are almost brothers, and together with what you bring we will be stronger and happier and better.

Oh it points out our differences... Perhaps some of the things this generation has in common to right? Little Johnny can't read, write or add much less give me change when I order a coffee. But he was so good at the feel good bogus make work type classes that really didn't teach him any real life skill. In every other nation, other than the US, English is the international language of business. Here, we're too bsuy with the French, Spanish, or German immersion school. Rather than depending on spell check and calculator, how about we teach a few of the basics. Wait, that would mean we would need teachers who actually taught. I sat in on one art class and it was a bash Bush and conservatives training for being a radical class. I was there to talk about how art is always a part of design in business. What a waste of my afternoon.

Of course, the phrase, "Why Johnny Can't Read" was coined in the 1950's. As Dave Barry pointed out years ago, one of the most consistent products of American culture is the manufacture of panics over how stupid Americans have become.

"multiculturalism is the dividing of our country.it teaches and points out differences."
--Bush and the GOP are the most divisive Republican regime we've seen in our entire history. They created an environment where divisions in politics, class, race, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, and gender (among others) have been allowed to grow and fester over the last 8 years. Bush got into office because many of his supporters exploited racism towards blacks to derail his campaign and McCain is hiring some of the same people who helped Bush and the GOP tear our country apart beginning in 2000. You'd have to be totally blind not to know realize the stunning hypocrisy of your views.

"let's review shall we? who controls the factories?
liberals."
--Wait...Do you mean "factories" like Pat Robertson's Law School (among the lowest ranked schools in the US) from which Monica Goodling and 150 other Bush hires graduated and were chosen over who knows how many hundreds of FAR more qualified law school graduates from FAR better schools? That the kind of factory you mean? The Bush administration is the champion of affirmative action for poorly educated white religious zealot cons. Everyone knows this. This is how we know all the "personal responsibility" moralizing we hear from cons (who blather and yak on endlessly about how they deserve more and bigger tax cuts because they "earn" their money) is pure HORSECRAP. Bushco poisoned our govt with filthy moronic trollops like Monica Goodling and the ignorant, home-schooled cons dare to accuse the left of biasing our schools? Wow.

really. Do you know the underlying causes of the civil war? Why we were able to beat the British and win our freedom? why the Germans attacked us? why the Japs attacked us. Why we got into the Korean war?
I bet what you learned in school was wrong, even if you were home skoolid. Why? because they were trying to teach "American exceptionalism."!

States Rights
Why we were able to beat the British and win our freedom?
Lots of luck, grim determination, and French help
why the Germans attacked us?
Because by that time we had declared war on them (1941)
Because we were legally supply materiel to England (1917)
why the Japs attacked us.
Because we opposed their expansion in the Pacific, and had agreed to join the Germans in fighting us if we declared war
Why we got into the Korean war?
Kim Il-Sun and Syngmann Rhee competing for power in the unificiation of the separated Korean peninsula.

In NY there is a private school in what is considered the worse part of NY where most whites will not go, and today we have white parents fighting to get their children into that school. Why? because there the teachers teach, there is no I got my education I don't care if you little freaks get theirs. And the students want to learn. You have been fed this crap and you continue to propagate it. There are not being thought like you have. Go to a public school and you will find very smart kids and unwilling teachers. I know for me I have to thank Mr. Helfreeak. Me and countless others. He came to teach and even when the others gave up on us from hello he would get in their faces and make sure they teach us. He graduated 160 students 102. have college degree(s).

They "earned" those jobs just like no-bid contractors in Iraq got theirs--con cronyism. Period. Nothing to do with education or talent or hard work. They were handpicked because they're wingjob religious zealots. I guess the best you can do is label something "liberal" and then go run off somewhere else to spew more garbage you can't defend. You are the poster boy for lack of education! Do you know what a capital letter is? Do you know how to spell the abbreviation for "et cetera"? You are bashing public schools, yet you have shown that you don't know the basics. The dumbing down of our children is based on our society as a whole. Parents aren't taking responsibility for helping their children learn. They're leaving it all up to the teachers at school. Learning doesn't happen in just 6 hours a day. Before trying to sound literate and educated, please reread your posts to make sure they make sense. Yours does not.

To begin with, prove that your generation is in fact the dumbest generation, ever, is the fact that you can't spell correctly, nor do you even have the common sense to use "spell check," nor can you articulate the English language properly. When you can, then maybe, just maybe you'll be able to make a justified comment. Try getting an education, first. Try assimulating to the US way of life, the US culture, and not your ancestors way of life. This is America not some foreign land our ancestors came from. We are not Europeans, Great Britain's, E Europeans, Russians, Chinese, Japanese, S Pacific Islanders, Spanish, African, Indian or any of the other many countries on this planet. We are foremost, Americans, US citizens, not anything else.

That is a weak argument that is flawed at its base. Firstly, you are assuming that one "Luis-Cifer" is a member of my generation. You cannot use his example as a statement towards my generation. That is a flawed argument and it casts the possibility that you don't know what you are talking about. Secondly, you state this:
"Try assimulating to the US way of life"
That's assimilating and it further casts doubt on your status to criticize this person, with whom you made an assumption not based in fact. Thirdly:
"your ancestors way of life"
That should be ancestor's. You missed the apostrophe which indicates a possessiveness. Fourthly:
"When you can, then maybe, just maybe you'll be able..."
That should read "When you can, then maybe, just maybe, you'll be able..."
When you can speak the English language properly, then maybe, just maybe, you will be able to speak on this subject with any validity.

In fact, just to show how riddled your statements are with inaccuracies:
"To begin with, prove that your generation is in fact the dumbest generation, ever, is the fact that you can't spell correctly, nor do you even have the common sense to use "spell check," nor can you articulate the English language properly."
Firstly, that is a run on sentence.
Secondly, that should read "proof" as opposed to "prove". Proof is a noun meaning something that you present to prove something. Prove is a verb meaning that you are presenting proof. You actually were telling him to do something.
Thirdly, "spell check," should be "spell check" and then the comma. Do not put the comma within the quotations. That is improper grammar.

Hate to contradict you, but the "dumming down" of our schools was caused by the lack of funding which was caused by the stupid politicians the AMERICAN PUBLIC voted into office.
Quit blaming public schools for the fact that a majority of parents don't make their kids do their homework at night, don't read to their children anymore, and don't place a higher priority on education instead of television and video games.
Quit blaming public schools for the fact that our students receive less money per student than most every other industrialized nation and have almost double the class sizes.
Quit blaming public schools for the fact that the American Public is so addicted to court dramas and so averse to responsibility, that we teachers can't take our students out of the classroom to do anything experiential for fear of the district getting sued.
Come teach for a few years and THEN criticize the public school system. Obviously, you have a lot left to learn yourself.

Liberals, contrary to popular belief, are not dumb. We grow up with the people, see their needs, and speak out about them. Think about worrying everyday about whether or not you wife or husband would come back home? that's the worry that gay's have without marraige. When the working class gets angry about gas prices, you conservative pricks need to close your mouths. Not all of us grew up in private school, ivy league, and not to mention college at mommy and daddy's expense. Maybe if you had to worry the amount of money to fill up your Ford Expedition we'd all be in the same boat. You Conservatives are killing our planet.
YOU NEED LIBERALS, WE'RE THE ONES WHO WANT TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT, AND WHO WANT TO BRING OUR SOLDIERS HOME!
Conservatives wouldn't know what it's like to have a relative in the middle east because YOU ARE ******. Notice that as soon as G.W.B came into office, our economy went into the black, and we spent five years in iraq for no reason.

Mr Johnson,
Is there some scripture that you could reference as support for your well thought out and succinctly phrased position.
Does this preclude Obama from being
- a radical Muslim
- a Manchurian (or at least their candidate)
- a Nazi
- a Black Liberation Theologist (or a least a supporter)
- a Wiccan
- a Communist
- a Socialist
The reason I ask is that over the past few months he has been described as all of those things here on Propeller, either by posters directly on in the stories posted here.
I expect that at least a few of these things are mutually exclusive so I'm just trying to narrow things down a little. Any help you could provide in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Now that the rest of the world is kicking our ass they have decided to educate them in full. They didn't undereducate them because they cant learn but because they wanted to create a sub-class out of them. In the worlds most free country we enslaved the minds. No. They didn't in mine, at least. They do that in a few European countries, though. Your courses are based directly on your past grades; for example, a student who did not earn at least a C in the World History course was not allowed to take CP American History. If you didn't earn an A in World History/English 2, you were not allowed to take AP American History. A B in AP Euro was also acceptable in place of the A in World. You get to choose the courses you take and what to concentrate in, according to your likes or dislikes and as long as you meet the pre reqs (or a bit below, most schools will work with you some) you get in no questions really asked. Any kid can go to college in the US just about if they have the will to at least try, as long as they manage to graduate from high school that is. Sometimes finances can be a big issue, though.
Also, most classes are electives that have few if any pre reqs in high schools, so no real separation occurs.

Eliminate the Teacher's union, go to merit based pay, and let the taxes we pay follow the student. If I want to send my daughter to school A, my taxes should go to school A. We need choice in schools, not monoplozied, mind numbed robot schools.

Um, if you get rid of the Teacher's Union, who's gonna make sure that merit based pay is equitable, much less actually implemented?
As far as taxes following your child around, what about low-income parents who pay little or no property taxes? What you're talking about is a system where rich schools get richer and poor schools get poorer.
There is no easy solution to problem schools. Public school districts that tend to do well have higher than average funding, lower than average student-to-teacher ratios, and higher than average parental involvement.

"who's gonna make sure that merit based pay is equitable, much less actually implemented"
A private entity. The big problem is the teacher's don't answer to anyone - but thenselves.
Low income parents that pay little or no property taxes can send there kids to school of choice either through a voucher, or a tax credit. As soon as they are able to pay more, or in this case pay more property taxes, they can still send their child to a school of choice.

Great...vouchers and tax credits. They are low-income already, so what kind of tax credit are you suggesting? I'm middle class. I can no longer afford to send my children to private school, yet I moved into a neighborhood where the school system is #1 in the state. When you have a good school system, your neighborhood is going to be good. Vouchers and tax credits are not the answer. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IS THE ANSWER!!

And how exactly would you suggest forcing parents to get involved??
My children went to public school for a few years
I was an involved parent
What I quickly discovered - the schools didn't want you involved unless you were going to give them total approval
I sent my kids to private school. When I had a complaint, they listened and took action
You have leverage in private school - your money
You have no leverage in public school - they will get your tax money whether you send your children there or not

At my school, parental involvement is greatly treasured. They rely on volunteers in school as well as the parents helping their children at home. When there's a problem or concern, the Principal herself will get involved. And basically, throughout my kids' schooling, as well as my own, if the parents are involved with their kid's learning, then the children are smarter...and so are the parents.
You still have leverage with your kids going to public school. Since they rely on public funding, there are scheduled "count days" where they encourage every child to be at school. When those numbers are down, the schools don't get as much funding.
Don't think that just because you go to public school that it's your "right" to go wherever you want. The children, as well as the parents, have to put in the effort in order to succeed.
Reply-

amazed1 month, 4 weeks ago
Those scheduled "count days" are a local (or at least state) thing. CT doesn't have them. Anyone who shows up at the annual budget meeting even questioning, let alone protesting, the amount of the increase in the budget is pretty well shouted down by the PTA parents, the teachers and the board of ed.
Each year the board of ed presents a budget that represents an increase of two to three times the rate of inflation. The Board of Ed, Superintendent of Schools, teachers' unions reps all swear that it is a "bare bones" budget and any cuts whatsoever will be disastrous to our children's education. The Board of Aldermen then cut the budget to an increase that is a bit more than the rate of inflation. The Board of Ed, et al, howls like stuck pigs. The headlines read "School Budget Slashed!" -- no it wasn't it's still an increase over last year.

If so, go ask the the school for the essential elements of the curriculum - they are mandated by the state here. Then compare them to what your child covered that year

The system does not treat the problem as "Parental Involvement Is The Answer". They treat it as more money is needed, yadda, yadda. yadda. You're situation is fine in the sense that your tax dollars would continue to fund your school. If I'm poorer than you and I want to send my kid to the same school as your kid my tax dollars, regardless of how large or small, would go there.
