    About its omission, the Justice Dept. released a statement. From the article:

    " 'We regret,' the statement said, 'that the department didn't catch the 2006 law when the case of Kennedy v. Louisiana was briefed.' "

    I guess that's what happens when the department is staffed with recent graduates of Liberty University.
