Give him a rowboat? Why? Why not put him on an airplane, send him home, and pay him for the 6 years he was held at Gitmo!
Did he do something wrong? What was it?
Look below for what I wrote to IanFraigun.
I ask you to google Mark Denbaux and Gitmo or Senate Hearing and Mark Denbeaux( because I don't remember the name of the Report to the Senate ). Might open your eyes to what's been going on there.
The immorality of the Bush Bunch is bottomless.

Indeed...a long time to be detained for being labeled an "enemy combatant" when there's been no hard proof...

TweekerchickQC3 months, 2 weeks ago
That's what I'm saying.
I mean six years is a long time to be locked anywhere, but without hard proof?!
That would hurt. I mean despite getting the free and clear now, that still doesn't give him his 6 years back.

And how does one get the label of being an enemy combatant. Probably by having a weapon and fighting our troops. Now it looks like we will have to just shoot them so a stupid court will not but them back under arms against us.
For the first time in our history prisoners of war in a foreign country are being given the rights of citizens living here. What a stupid idea. The courts are going to have our soldiers Mirandize the captured enemy? What next.

Endo, only Dumya has done that... showing even greater mismanagement by naming a war czar that acccomplished nothing and putting a navy man in charge of two ground wars which resulted in his resignation! How many years of fauilure in Iraq as Dumya said we were only fighting terrorists there, before Dumys left Petraeus alone to win some hearts and minds of those "terrorists"?
After WW2 we helped hang Germans and Japanese for what Dumya has done (water torture and preemptive war), so your WW2 reference is screwed up too - like you!
PS: don't forget how Dumya let OBL escape Tora Bora and at least 1200 Al Qaeda/Talaban escape Operation Anaconda... and even said he didn't care if OBL gets caught or not! Show us some more of your hypocrisy, endo!

Be careful when you reference WWII Germans - I think
there's going to be an awful lot of, "I was just following
orders", from our guys. Plus, those of us here in the
states better practice up on, "We didn't know what was happening". The paltry excuses of the Germans have been
laugh lines for years. How will YOU make it sound more
convincing?

I think it depends on the circumstances. Six years in Paradise probably feels like a moment, but I would say being held in Gitmo for six years for nothing is a long time.

25 years is longer, but 6 years isn't a small amount of time either!

Cool! Then you won't mind if I call the FBI, say you have a friend who knows someone, who has a cousin who might know someone who talked to someone about the taliban. Then they can pick you up, name you an enemy combatant, take you to their special place, and spend 6 years figuring it all out. A piece of cake, eh?

Varadinum is equivalent to a professional wrestling villian. Even a genuine fascist wouldn't say anything as inane as "25 year it's a long time, not 6." Nor would a genuine fascist, whose native language is English, embarrass himself by writing such a sentence. It should be, "Twenty-five years is a long time, not six."

This has been the point all along. Just having someone say you are an enemy combantant does not make it so. Like any other criminal action it must be proven.
It took so long because the supreme court took until now to give these folks the opportunity to appear in court and attempt to prove they should not be held. If after 6 years our government cannot prove the accusation, and they can do it in secret if it involved classified information, to a court then the detained deserves to be set free.
In this society, no matter what the neocon's may wish to think, simply having the president or his designees say something does not make it so. Here you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but Bush and his underlings want you to prove your innocence without even giving you the benefit of knowing what you are supposed to have done wrong.
Small, but a first step getting us back to the constitutional republic we have always been and still should be.

Do you know what this reminds me of? Franz Kafka's novels, specifically the Castle and the Trial. For anyone who is interested in literature and hasn't read them yet, I strongly recommend them. You can probably find them in any library.

Well said.
I've been on a soapbox for some time now ( after watching a Senate Hearing in December 2007 ) and then looking up the Governments case against 517 Gitmo detainees.
A Professor Mark Denbeaux of Seton Hall University and his group took the Governments own data and put it into a report and they delivered it to the Senate ( It was shown in its entirety on C-Span and as I said above, I watched the whole thing.
Long story short, something like 93% of the detainees were at Gitmo because they had been sold to the United States Army for a bounty. Nearly all of those rounded up and sold for the bounty were sold by either Pakistanis or Afghans.
The Chineese were living in Pakistan in a colony.
The most intresting thing to me was that many of the detainees were named as Enemy Combatants because they knew someone who knew someone who knew either an Al-queda or Taliban. Some were there because they had a Rolex watch.
We owe for those six years.

What warnings. Clinton had all the intelligence agencies so they could not even talk to each other and fill each other in with data. So each had a piece of the information but not the whole picture. Good going Clinton. That idiocy caused us not to have any warning. Your guy Slick Willy.

We want truthful answers to questions such as:
1. Why were standard operating procedures for dealing with hijacked airliners not followed that day?
2. Why were the extensive missile batteries and air defenses reportedly deployed around the Pentagon not activated during the attack?
3. Why did the Secret Service allow Bush to complete his elementary school visit, apparently unconcerned about his safety or that of the schoolchildren?
4. Why hasn't a single person been fired, penalized, or reprimanded for the gross incompetence we witnessed that day?
5. Why haven't authorities in the U.S. and abroad published the results of multiple investigations into trading that strongly suggested foreknowledge of specific details of the 9/11 attacks, resulting in tens of millions of dollars of traceable gains?

# 9/11 attacks, resulting in tens of millions of dollars of traceable gains?
# Why has Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator who claims to have knowledge of advance warnings, been publicly silenced with a gag order requested by Attorney General Ashcroft and granted by a Bush-appointed judge?
# How could Flight 77, which reportedly hit the Pentagon, have flown back towards Washington D.C. for 40 minutes without being detected by the FAA's radar or the even superior radar possessed by the US military?
# How were the FBI and CIA able to release the names and photos of the alleged hijackers within hours, as well as to visit houses, restaurants, and flight schools they were known to frequent?
# What happened to the over 20 documented warnings given our government by 14 foreign intelligence agencies or heads of state?

11. Why did the 911 Commission fail to address most of the questions posed by the families of the victims, in addition to almost all of the questions posed here?
12. Why was Philip Zelikow chosen to be the Executive Director of the ostensibly independent 911 Commission although he had co-authored a book with Condoleezza Rice?

Stupid, irrelevant to the article questions all which could only be asked by a sycophant who plays up to all those wearing tin hats. To answer:
1. How do you know the SOP's were not followed? Where, and were they followed in most places? An undefendable allegation.
2. Batteries not deployed?? Where's the evidence?
3. Never happened, after the second plane hit, Bush left.
4. I witnessed bravery, if you saw incompetence you were hallucinating.
5. Can't publish something non existent. Are you saying foreign news sources are in collusion w/ our government?
6. Traceable gains? OK, what are they?
7. If Edmonds had a gag order then how do you know what he knew? Be specific, what did he say if anything before the gag order was enforced?
8. Flight 77 flew backwards, that's a laugh! It want over air space over my house while I listened to the news about the flight's course. So NBC knew and it and it was not on radar.
9. 10. Cont'd

9. The release of the names did not happen within hours. (Or as you imply a short time)
10.And what were these warnings? Better be careful or certain planes would be hijacked on a certain day from a certain place?
11.Co-authoring a book w/ Ms. Rice, wow, that sure disqualifies him being objective! What the he11?

Amazing! Another sock puppet who was in the flight path of the non-existent flight 77! Why didn't the Bureau of Transportation Statistics record the departure of flight AA 77 from Dulles airport on 9/11/2001? How did it penetrate three rings of the Pentagon? Why was there so little wreckage? Why was the lawn so pristine? Why didn't the jet knock over the cable reels directly in front of the nose of the 757?
What do you and the rest of the sock puppets want? Do you look forward to the day when all honest people are sent to concentration camps or hanged from lamp posts? If that does not happen, it is no thanks to you.

Endo and John, what a pair of bush sycophants! You both missed the point of the decision on purpose, don't you? Its your repug torture loving, Unitary Executive judges who voted not to give this man any human rights, Scalia, Roberts, Alito and Thomas. All these unprincipled judges should be impeached, convicted and removed! People like you two should be declared terrorists in America too! Most radical court in history as defined by how much precedent overturned!
Endo, seems to me you've lied on your facts on almost every post you've given on this issue - keep up your un-American behavior!

I submitted a post in this thread about 3 hours ago but don't see it anywhere. I'll check other stories and see where it might have landed. Of course, it won't make any sense wherever it is but then again it might not make any sense here either. Gist: the guy didn't do anything except that he was 'linked' to a group that wants independence from China and that group may have ties to Al Qaeda. Sure makes him sound like he might be a threat to the USA...not.

Had the same problem more than once. I was told it was my Browser and the Prop Software.
Your statement that the Chineese guy was a victim of bounty money certainly agrees with the Senate Hearing I alluded to above. I should have put a link in to that site so hear it is:
Sorry
I can paste in the address, but when it is "in" the person clicking on the link goes to the wrong story>
To get there google Mark Denbeaux Gitmo Senate Hearing that will get you there for sure.
Once there you can read the story and actually bring up the Report.

Please read all 22 pages of the official report with Justice Scalia as a participant to really see how rotten the disinformation is that comes from this Administration.

I posted the link to the report for anybody that was interested. If you went to the report and read all 22 pages as I requested, you couldn't happen but notice that it is thouroughly footnoted. And you should have noticed that it addressed the issue fairly.
I read the report and was convinced that a Supreme Court Justice who used a propaganda piece from the Bush Bunch as evidence for his decision can't be all impartial.
Loverman, Yes he did learn of the real truth but that Scalia didn't issue a statement of regret for his use of that propaganda when it was revealed to be absolutely wrong at best and an outright lie at worse, says to me that he doesn't need to be in the position that he is in.
But isn't that just par for this Administration and his enablers?

You call a country,an axis of evil, then you invade in the name of Democracy and freedom and bomb their country, destroy their poor infrastructure and other facilities. When they resist you and fight you back, you pick some of them up or put pressure on your puppet regimes who live on your hand out to hand some imaginary enemies of yours, and you name them enemy combatant. America is really misguided by the misguided and retarded leader Bush.

I have not posted for a while, since it was occupying every waking moments, but now I find that unome2 is a LIHOP shill. Say it isn't so. Flights AA 11 and AA 77 never took off on 9/11/2001, and it is quite likely that UA 175 landed in Cleveland. And how many times must it be repeated that jet crashes were no more credible than a cartoon character running into a mountain and creating a body shaped tunnel?
I visited the propeller blog because I just learned that the man hanged as Saddam Hussein was one of his doubles. See http://tinyurl.com/3nl4ct http://www.apfn.net/messageboard/05-16-05/discu...
