That may be, but it would be equally dangerous in any city clubbing at night if there was an extra large place that was considered "suspicious" because "drugs were being sold" and a huge crowd was set in a panic by a police raid. I wonder how many people were REALLY in the joint, and just how many cops went in?

Well, sadly the parties over for those who died. Thank God there wasn't a fire. The death rate would have been much worse.

"Police went to the club last night when someone reported that alcohol and drugs were being sold to minors celebrating the end of the school year.
"The crowd rushed into an emergency exit after the club owner announced that officers were there to arrest them. The emergency exit was partially blocked by cases of beer. 12 people were killed and 13 injured in the crush. Police detained 39 people including the owner."

It's sad that these young people had to die. The war on 'drugs' claims a few more. I wonder, if we had spent all the money and effort spent on the War on drugs on other productive things where we would be today?
I wonder, if the WAR wasn't being waged, just how many people would not have ended up in the black market to make a profit? How many dead dealers and innocent by-standers would be alive today? How much smaller would our prison system be today?

If you want to solve the problem of drugs, make them available; have them distributed at a cheaper rate than the black market and have them inspected for safety. Tax them like you do alcohol and cigarettes.
This will kill the black market drug trade, which will reduce those harmed from being in the business or simply standing on the wrong corner at the wrong time. It will empty our jails and reduce the cost of that system. And most impotent to the politicians, you will finally get the taxes from them that you are missing now.
Like alcohol in the past, making things illegal and makes them more enticing, and creates an illicit underground of otherwise law abiding citizens that have to sneak around and be in fear of a jail term and or being killed in a crush, because the police have to raid the club your in.

There is little payoff money involved in a legalized product, but keep it underground and the money to grease the wheels becomes plentiful....
