Well its true that it didn't affect the market today but from what I've been hearing that has more to do with the news not yet circulating the market... sometimes it takes a day or two for news like this to have an impact.
But you may be right, it may not have an impact on the market thanks to all the speculation thats going on. Seems the problem has less to do with supply and demand and more to do with market investments.
However, I'm still sure that dumbing a large amount of cheap oil onto the market will have an impact on pricing. After all this isn't the first time the Saudis have done this, and all the other times its worked the way they wanted it to.

dt - Sorry old chap, but 200-400 thousand barrels a day will make jack crap difference to the speculators. They will ONLY react when it's million(s) of barrels a day, or the world sort's out Iraq, Nigeria, the weak dollar & the various economies of the "western world" that are busy trying to dig themselves out of one HUGE banking / macro-economic hole that they've dug themselves into !!!
That's MACRO economics (in a nutshell)......

We will dig off shore, and we will roll over any Democrats standing in our way in November.

The increase in Saudi production will not be enough to offset the loss of production in Mexico. Oil will continue to go up, and gas prices may hit $5/bbl within the next four to six weeks.

Not sure if the increase from the Saudis are going to help. Just wonder if there is a market correction in the future?

Oil will continue to go up until we drill Domestically. Had the Hillbilly *hore Hopper not vetoed permission to drill in the ANWR in 1995 we would have had our own oil 3 years ago. We cannot allow the Democrats to continue to stand in the way of getting our own oil. We have to vote them out in November or pay $7 a gallon soon.

I just keep wondering how long or what will it take to once again unite these UNITED States of America. We are certainly as divided today as it possibly can be. One side blaming the other for all ills, and each side absolute in their knowledge that their side is the one and only path to follow.
We blame current events on historical past, and can't seem to agree on anything, much less accept that present events are in part created by present actions.
It appears the only thing we agree on is that things aren't good. Isn't it time we quit hurling rotten tomatoes at each other, and actually listen to each other for a change. Everyone has valid ideas, just as everyone has bad ideas. Let's join forces and make this country great again. On the current path, we will continue to loose world leadership in innovation, medicine, wealth, manufacturing to mention a few items. Lets confront the fact that countries like India, China, Brasil, UAE and others are usurping us.
