Oh my .... yet more proof the much maligned military surge actually worked. Aidenag ... you paying attention? A year ago you posted with glee every bit of tragedy striking US troops and asked: "Someone tell me how the surge is working?" Well, now you have your answer! We just keep getting better and better news out of Iraq.
Hell, Iraq sounds safer than Mexico and parts of the U.S. these days. Thank goodness our President had the sense to veto the defunding bills and thank goodness we have enough Republicans in office to prevent a veto override.

Remember Afgan?..Seems the opposite is happening there, isn't that where OBL is ? the Taliban ?
US causalities are on the rise in Afgan.
As for Iraq, the military doing a great job, and they are, can not solve a political mess. Unless you want a puppet Gov. and they are never in the peoples best interest are they.

Iraq has nearly full control of its own security now. A year ago, people like yourself declared Iraq lost. Now you bring up Afghanistan as if somehow that shows failure in Iraq.
I pay close attention to the news, and I've not heard reports of deaths on the rise in Afghanistan nor the Taliban taking control. As far as OBL, reports suggest he is holed up in cave somewhere in the mountainous region of Pakistan and NOT Afghanistan.
Nice try at deflection, but it won't work.

"Oh my .... yet more proof the much maligned military surge actually worked."
--But aren't we essentially giving ourselves a pat on the back for bringing the violence *we* caused back down to a level that's still way higher than it was before we invaded? Just asking... ;-(

This story is talking about "the number of attacks by militants in the last week." That's hardly a period of time to make a big deal over. I got lucky four times last week - that doesn't mean it will happen that many times this week!
And if you think Iraq is safer than parts of the U.S., why don't you go there to retire? Since people must be blowing themselves up on the streets of the town where you live, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Say it isn't so. Whatever will the Democrats do now? They will have to send their on bombers over to blow up something. Barak knows a couple bombers, send them. The Democrats whole strategy for winning the 08 election is for U S to fail. They fought this President for every penny including blackmailing him right now about funding for material for our troops on the ground. This is great news.

Maybe faith in radical Islam is waning over there? After Sunnis strapped up two retarded women with bombs to blow up Shiite children in pet stores, I can understand why that might be the case. Then again, maybe Iraqi Muslims are able to get YouTube and see such sites s "investigateislam" and "CloningIsFun"? Are Muslims studying how the sun DOESN'T "run to a resting place" where it then DOESN'T have to ask permission of Allah to rise again as Sahih Bukari says the sun does before rising? Well, great news that things are improving, none the less.

Problem with that is that the southern cap expanding. You might wish to rephrase that. Perhaps "shrinking faster than credible anti-war rationale" would be more suitable.
I fervently hope that our military is considering (and preparing for where possible) the possibility of a pre-U.S. election offensive. The whole world knows that the Tet Offensive was a military disaster for the Viet Cong and the North... while, at the same time, it is also widely known that it caused us to go weak in the knees... as such, it was a major strategic loss for us.
The stakes for our country and the world are far, far higher in Iraq than they were in Vietnam.

What platform will the GOP be running on? The promise of $4 a gallon gas and no energy policy whatsoever, $4 milk, record foreclosures, trillions of dollars more debt for our grandkids to pay off and 100 years more p!ssing away our money and getting our young slaughtered in war after war? Yup...Sign me up fer that 'un.

"What platform will the GOP be running on? The promise of $4 a gallon gas and no energy policy whatsoever,"
Our energy policy works fine - the oil companies drill, refine and distribute, and the consumer easily and cheaply buys gas at pumps nationwide. Try living in most of the rest of the world, where it's not so cheap and not so readily available. Sierra Leone, for example, where gas is $18.42 per gallon. Or how about Myanmar, where you have to trip over rotting corpses and a hostile government just to find rice to feed your family for another day.
"record foreclosures"
Not the fault of the GOP, or any government entity. That one falls squarely on the consumers who got in over their heads.
"trillions of dollars more debt for our grandkids to pay off"
Have you heard what Obama has in mind for your tax dollars? He feels our nation is too rich, and U.S. funds should be diverted to "help" Africa. How's THAT for a laugh?

Sam Zell is a committed Zionist, he owns the La Times and Chicago Tribune. He loves it when the US fights Israel's war, with blood and treasure, while giving Israel billions for more nukes and jets.
Look up LA times and ownership. Wikipedia and other sources for background on Sam Zell.
Remember Colin Powell in front of the UN with his vial of fake anthrax? LIE!!!!
The first sentence in the article is "a military spokesman says"......... another lie.
Just who is the surge working for? Who is this war benifiting other than the Saudi's who planned, financed and executed 911?

Excellent news. I've said it before, by August Iraq won't merit any attention by the drive by media or the liberal democrats because it will be going so well.
