"Hours out of the hospital, US Senator Edward M. Kennedy sought refuge this afternoon in the serenity of Nantucket Sound, taking his 50-foot schooner on a two-hour sail.

"It was wonderful to be on the water," Kennedy said, shuffling off a dock after his return. "It's all it takes."

This story did my heart good.

Yes, good story AG! It is remarkable how the human spirit can deal with life's many speed bumps! (the speed bumps sometimes come in difference severity's)

Good for the Kennedy's!

Thanks AG!

Funny, when you think about it. When he needed help millions were spent to fly him to two hospitals. Had the very best care. Now we're all supposed to feel sorry for him. Wouldn't it have been nice if Mary Jo Kopechne had the same care...

It would be nice if we ALL had that kind of care, money talks sh1t walks tho.

They would, if CONS didn't thwart coverage for all Americans. DUH!

How naive you are, jordan11!!!!

Do you actually believe that government-run, government-administered health care would provide us all with the best care????

Not a chance!!! Look at Canada, England and others--government-run care is not even close to being on a par with what our (admittedly screwed-up) health delivery system provides.

For a more realistic scenario, the next time you go to renew your driver's license, or visit the assessor's office to challenge your property appraisal, just imagine you are at the ER, with a need for some of that "best care."

There's your true scenario for "best care!!!"

DUH!!!

Ah yes, and the private sector has done such a wonderful job so far for those of us who can afford the high premiums but not so good with those who can't.

Vettenut.....I believe you are wrong. Canada has good healthcare "for all" not just for those who can afford to be healthy.

Actually, I'd have to ask how naive YOU are. If insurance companies didn't have pools, few would get the best care. With a pool, you have those in poor health, those in fair health, and those in good health. It balances out. One problem is that insurance companies have profit as their #1 motivation. Consequently, care is often denied for profit. Or those in poor health are denied coverage for profit. Or those in fair health are denied coverage for profit. The ONLY way that good health care will be obtainable for all citizens is through a non profit pool. DUH.

I'm not talking about healthcare, I'm talking about a drunk who drove off a bridge and rather than going for help hid until the next day.

I do not wish ill on the man, but there is something of an irony here.

No there isn't. We're all going to get sick, and eventually we're all going to die.

I hope everybody reads the story; it's a really nice story. The pic is great, too.

Hum? I just wonder what Bill he plans on pushing through. Now that he's got the attention and compassion of the world. Minus one, Me.

Proof positive that "on the water" is more life affirming than being under it. There is no doubt that he is a fighter... for his own life. It is sad and tragic that, when in a position to directly fight for that of another, his reflex was to surrender.

When I heard that Senator Kennedy had brain cancer it caused me to reflect on the violent deaths of his three brothers. It is sad anyone has to have this horrid disease though I suppose it's some kind of karma working. I wish him and his family the best, it's all I can do.

At least he has his boat, "taking his 50-foot schooner on a two-hour sail." I used to have a little ol cat it was great fun but a 50 foot schooner would have been more fun.

For a person of his age and health the prognosis is not good. I would not wish this on anyone. However I almost totally disagree with him on everything.

I bet Mary Jo would have rather had a boat too and not a car in the water.

And I'll bet the boy who died when Laura Bush hit his car & killed him would have liked to see his 21st birthday. Sometimes terrible things happen to good people, because of the split second errors of others. Doesn't make those that caused it monsters.

To those of you who are gleeful about his condition, remember your glee when you're on your death bed. It may bring you some comfort.

some of you are due for some bad karma. No matter what I think about Ted Kennedy, I wish him well. He's got a terrible diagnosis.

i dont wish ill of anyone..but i dont know the kennedys personally and could care less about his condition..we all have tragedy intrude into our lives..and none of us gets of here alive--i have far more compassion for the millions in myanmarr and china..that truly is suffering and a human tragedy--what i am hopeful for is that the monstrous negative effect TK has had on this country will hopefully end..but probably not..in truly bad taste ,the kennedy clan is already lining up to see how to make the most of this and who his successor might be..i think his bride is the current front runner with the sympathy vote..or RFK jr..either one would be a continuing liberal disaster..but less influential at any rate

Congratulations Ningyo. I did not know that you had the inside scoop as to what the Kennedy family is thinking and feeling. Personally, I think the family is trying to deal with the shock of the Senator's diagnosis. You are truly amazing.

they are political animals..its been widely reported how the clan is planning to make use of this..it shouldnt be a shock or surprise to anyone...i dont have inside information..but why does it seem unusual that a family like this isnt using the tools they have at hand...that may seem cold..but its who they are
