News – The Bush family took a major drubbing this week from the Propeller community. But there were also lively conversations about the North Carolina primary, Richard Dawson, and the gold-plated triumph of "Iron Man."
I've noticed a couple, James!
In this case though I must point out that iron wasn't a commonly used metal by the old-timers of European alchemy..
Lead, cinnabar, mercury, antimony were some of the more usual ones - all of them extremely toxic..
Between the fumes and the wayward explosions - gunpowder was a product of Chinese alchemy [which concerned itself far more with health and longevity than with gold] the alchemist's life was not always an easy one nor often a long one.
Interestingly lead, which was probably overall the MOST popular, is adjacent to gold on the periodic table - something of which there was no knowledge at the time.
Curious..
And the more closely you examine it the curiouser it gets.
The best information about alchemy on the web - by far - is at www.levity.com/alchemy
Dan Levy is a scholar and a gentleman who lives in NYC and has sponsored this site for over 15 years.
Adam McLean, whose site this is, has a heroic commitment to alchemy.
I keep forgetting that I shouldn't submit my comments in invisible ink..Thank you to all of those positive votes (over 6,000 in the past 6 months). If we get James some eyeglasses do you think he'll recognize a guy with an 8-1 plus-minus ratio instead of patronizing so many net negative posters here?
It's a reasonable observation. I write like an adult, I ask adult questions, and I don't expect to be treated as a child, especially from another fellow Mass. resident.
I was making a sarcastic observation where too much credibility is given to some incredible people here.
(at least I didn't pull a Wolfie, and neg. the story)
Just keep the faith, Cakie. I finally saw one of my snippets in a WIR. Your turn will come.
I've come to take it as a high honor to earn a neg. from Wolfie and his group of wordless ConMen. Shows I am posting sane comments. Sanity, truth, facts... Such things infuriate that lot.
An even higher compliment. Those who give me a neg AND post insults as an answer to sanity, truth and facts. Ad hominem arguments are the ultimate compliment to your posts. They show that your attacker can't figure out how to discredit your statement, and so turns to slander and name calling -- claiming you are stupid, crazy, (insert favorite insult here) and therefore he's right and you are obviously wrong.
Thanks libsRfunny. Your demonstration of the technique helps a great deal, and also makes me feel even better than a wordless neg.
Mr C, I have quoted you in previous WIRs. But some thicker glasses might help, especially with this astigmatism.
You do a great job. I have just been having a long week and spent a lot of time here. I got great feedback, so I was looking for some rare closure..Oh well...
Quite honestly, I have been reading your week in review since it began in November and have never seen my comments.
I truly thought I had quoted you in one of the earliest WIRs. If not, that's an oversight I'll be sure to rectify.
I don't want to interfere with your artistic creativity, it's just a little frustrating to see a few mean-spirited agitators here quoted more than once. They are just looking for attention,. and this would give it to them and encourage more nonsense that they often spew.
You know who they are...
They don't always say bad things, just usually, and the rare
additions that they may make here are not encouraging them to lighten up..So to me it seems patronizing and unworthy.
I'm sure he does..Aren't you busy loving that jackass??
(Bush)...you still have 7 more months of lovin to give, and believe me you won't have to wait in line!
When you give him a hug can you crush him for us??
((Aren't you busy loving that jackass?? (Bush)...you still have 7 more months of lovin to give, and believe me you won't have to wait in line! When you give him a hug can you crush him for us??))
I see what you mean about the "mean-spirited agitators here that are just looking for attention, spewing nonsense". ; )
The nonsense you spewed for too many years under your previous pseudonym speaks volumes for your credibility.
You defended his no child left behind disaster, his promise to rebuild New Orleans, and of course the mothers of all deceptions..WMD's, uranium, direct threat, Al Quaida supporters, parades in the streets, Iraqi oil paying for the war, keeping the region stable to keep oil prices under $2.00..You defended them all! NONE were true! NOT ONE!
(that was the nonsense I was referring to)
People like you are responsible for extending his reign of irresponsibility and unaccountability in one of America's darkest eras.
(and we still know that in the closet you still luvyour pathetic prez)..NEXT mistake?? No thanks!
Remember, numbers and facts may confuse you people but YOU and Wolfie are still part of the dwindling minority here!
All I'm really looking for are multiple points of view, expressed in a reasonably articulate (and sometimes amusing) way. I'm not really keeping the member's history in mind when I select a comment. And if you look through past WIRs, you'll see the names of people who were subsequently banned for rotten behavior, as well as those of our most civilized participants. But like I said earlier, I thought I had quoted you in a previous WIR, and will be happy to correct that oversight.

Another excellent WIR James, thanks...
