News – The Rev. Al Sharpton was arrested at the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday as he and hundreds of demonstrators blocked traffic to protest the acquittal of three detectives in the 50-bullet shooting of an unarmed black man on his wedding day.

Now put him on trial for inciting the Crown Heights Riot and the deaths at Freddie's Fashion Mart. This snake oil salesman has got blood on his hands.
Dude , I'm so glad you bring this stuff up . But that is all history .Isn't there a statute of limitations . Besides , I really think he's on the Federal payroll . You know some one would've taken him out by now otherwise .
there is no statute of limitations on homicide.
On the other hand, if there was ever something to protest about, this case is it!
I said back when it happened that it would be all swept under the rug and these cops would get off scot-free. The only mistake is in thinking that they got off because the victims were black. They got off because they are cops, cops are never wrong. When they are wrong, they get to investigate themselves only to find out that they weren't wrong because they never are.
If you see a cop actually get in trouble for something that s/he does, you're looking at a cop who can't get along with the other cops at all --either because he's totally obnoxious or he's totally incorruptible.
Wrong.
The cops got off because Sean Bell and his loser friends were arguing about getting a gun and then went to their car. The cops told them to stop and that's when Sean Bell tried to run over one of the cops and then ram the police van in a DRUNKEN STUPOR.
Between Sean Bell, Trent Benefield and Guzman, they had about 14 arrests between them for weapons and drugs.
And here's the biggest lie of all: THERE WAS NO WEDDING DAY!! THERE WAS NEVER A MARRIAGE LICENSE PROCURED.
What should bother Sharpton is that plenty of black people are killed for absolutely no reason in their community. But since he and his National Action Network can't make any money off of those killings, they just love finding fault with cops where none exists.
yeah, and it only took them a year to come up with that story...
That's ok. Many black people refuse to believe how Sean contributed to his own death. The ridiculous protest is proof of that.
I'm about as white as they come, but I have to deal with police on a daily basis, so you get to know what type of people are attracted to that calling as well as how they are trained to think.
What's really important here is.....Where's Jesse Jackson?
Is he gonna let Al Sharpton get all the glory and all the media?
Run, Jessee, run! Run, Jessee, run!
And when is Rev. Wright gonna weigh in on this thing?
You know why they shot him 50 times ???
They ran out of bullets !
Locky,
Quit letting facts get in the way of hating "the man"
: )
Sorry, accidental neg.
np
I can't believe that i am agreeing with dropkick, locky, and newbie..but only because i think you are right this time.Sharpton is a snake. When you try to run over cops you get what you deserve, black or white.
Hey baddad, goes to show you. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day huh?
;o)
lol,you are absolutely right.
so because the guy wasn't really getting married the next day, it was okay for the cops to whack him?
They NEVER identified themselves as cops. They (the cops) were in the bar drinking all evening.
According to witnesses at the time (apparently their memories have improved as time goes by), the cops were already shooting when the guy tried to ram the UNMARKED police van.
Did those cops REALLY have access to these guys criminal records when they opened fire? Did they even REALLY know who they were shooting at?
The marriage was just part of the "drama" of the innocent black man killed by racist police that were hell bent on killing somebody that night.
They did not have to identify themselves according to the NYS Criminal Procedural Law. Thank God that law was written so cops wouldn't have to die doing their jobs.
Sean Bell was no stranger to the Criminal Justice System. He knew DARN WELL they were cops and he didn't want to go back to jail. Unfortunately for him, he was drunk and tried to use his 3,000 LB car as a deadly weapon.
The cops knew about a conversation about a gun and the when they tried to stop potential violence, Sean and his friends tried to run over the cops. So their criminal records didn't matter.
That said, their criminal records are real. The wedding day is a fake.
"Thank God that law was written so cops wouldn't have to die doing their jobs. "
If someone pulls a gun on you without identifying themselves as a police officer, you should have every right to defend yourself in whatever way you feel necessary. Including running the person over with your car.
Sean was ALREADY trying to run them over. THEN they started shooting.
>>Sean was ALREADY trying to run them over. THEN they started shooting.
From what I heard & saw on the news, they were UNDERCOVER, NEVER identified themselves, & had their weapons drawn.
If someone points a gun at you, what exactly would you do?
Drive away in the opposite direction.
Have you seen where his car was it was in a tight spot he wasn't driving away if even he wanter to!
You're in a parking spot w/only 1 way to go, a man with a gun pointed at you, not reallhy saying anything, and DEFINITELY NOT identifying himself as a cop.
My 1st thought is duck & hit the gas - HARD.
"If someone points a gun at you, what exactly would you do?..."
Exactly what the f%ck I was told to do.
You are a little slow, they weren't told to do anything!
You freeze, j ackass. It's called non-verbal communication.
With as much gun violence around these days, you see a man in regular street clothes pull a gun on you & you freeze? If I'm in my car, no. Unless he id's himself as a cop, he's roadkill.
Yes, however if you have 50 people pointing weapons at you, perhaps you should rethink your next move.
there weren't 50 guns, there were fifty shots fired.
Hell - 50 guns, I'll gun it even harder & just kiss my a$$ goodbye
It's just a shame more people were not carrying guns, then they could have had a real shoot out.
More guns equals solution to everything.
...and if he happens to be wearing a police uniform, not your fault, right?
Incorrect. A man that I used to work with went to jail for running someone over who was trying to rob him at gun point. The fact that he was in his van meant that he could have simply just drove away in the opposite direction. At that point it also becomes a case of he said she said. You say it was self defense because the peson had a gun, but they say they pulled the gun because you tried to run them over. Who looks better there? You, and your two buddies with extensive criminal backgrounds who could have thrown the car in reverse and left, or the three cops who were trying to stop three guys from getting their gun and opening fire in the bar where the fight had started?
they had no gun!!!!
They bsaid they were going to get one. That's all the cops, or anyone else for that matter need to hear.
the cops didn't "hear" them say that for at least several weeks after the shooting...
I'll look into that. From what I read the folks at the club who said bell was fighting in the first place told the cops he said he was going for a gun.
Locky - do you even know what you are talking about? Two of the officers were Black! Everything is about race with you, this were a bad call by officers and they should have been punished. The only reason they are not is the city then becomes liable for their actions. And you are asking someone to force themselves to pay millions, they are not going to do that.
Sorry but you are wrong. While the officers were in fact black, sharpton and pals say that "they are not black, but blue." They say that a black cop will kill a black man just to fit in with the racist white cops they work with. Sharpton and gang say that black cops are more dangerous to the black community than racist white ones.
What the hell are you talking about. I was addressing the race issue. I can care less what sharpton says.
That IS the issue. That your so called black leaders say that black officers are not black but blue.
Tang i live in NY and is Sharpton said that i would know. You are telling lies, or repeating some you have heard. Sharpton said from day one;this is not about race it's about police abusing their authority.; I find it hard to defend sharpton but i cant stand aside as you promote lies!
Awww, come on Blackracereturn, don't play stupid.
"Sharpton said from day one;this is not about race."
If it wasn't about race, Sharpton wouldn't be involved in this. EVERYONE knows it!
That's how the media have you trained. It's sad when our citizens can condone the shooting of a person 50 times and then focus on the history, when the officers had no knowledge of his history prior to the shooting. Say what you will the cops were wrong. This is why the judge in the case has sent it to the feds. he may have let them go because of local politics but that will not be the case with the feds.
Sharpton is doing the right thing!
Lots of people live in New York. The NYPD may be slow but they aren't a bunch of corrupt thugs itching to kill random people.
Don't forget that someone of those "racist" police officers were black themselves.
I suppose you believe Amadu Dialo (sp?) deserved to get shot 19 or 20 times, too..btw -- those cops got off, too.
Was that the guy who ran from them and upon being conrered reached around his backside while being told to lie down and put his hands up? If so then he deserved to get shot for his stupidity.
Amadou Diallo was going for his wallet, whilst the cops told him to freeze. That's why he got shot, the cops thought he was going for a gun.
& Diallo was shot 41 times if memory serves me correctly.
