News – Marcus W. Brauchli will step down as the top-ranking editor of The Wall Street Journal after less than a year in the job, four people briefed on the matter said on Monday, just four months after Rupert Murdoch took control of the paper.
Anybody who was a WSJ fan for the last 30 years knew this was going to happen the moment Rupert "I am the Illuminati" Murdoch bought it.
That leaves one real newspaper left in the US, it's always been one of the best, uses real reporters instead of wire stories, and has never displayed the bias of regional politics that all other newspapers seem to increasingly suffer from.
I was good with what you said, until you said, ". . .long list. . .". (Maybe phrasing?), although I agree with the exploitation. I heard about a poker parlor in Ca. that is Jewish-owned. The owner gives millions of dollars to Israel, where it is used to fund illegal settlement activity. I consider this funding to be no different than the funding that Muslim organizations have been accused of as aid for terrorist orgs. Those settlements are internationally recognized as being illegal (of course, since when did that matter?).
It wasn't unforeseen or unexpected. Rupert's got a gem of a Business daily and it will go down in flames because the reporters who work there won't do celebrity crappy news to sell papers. I foresee that Murdoch will eventually lose money as the Journal deteriorates and subscription declines in the short run, but what happens in the long run is anybody's guess.

"Mr. Murdoch has said publicly that he wants to make The Journal more of a general-interest newspaper, to compete more directly with The New York Times, though he insists he will not diminish its coverage of business."
Sounds like a dumb idea. The WSJ has a highly successful niche, and he wants to dilute it with general news people can get damn near anywhere else. Probably trying to make it more of an advertising vehicle.
Don't hold back, tell us what you REALLY think! An accurate assessment though.
Well said. VERY well said.
He wants another media outlet for his right wing propaganda machine. The WSJ has had a sterling reputation as a business newspaper and you've seen what a great reputation his other media vehicles have after his acquisitions.
I think Murdoch's plan to turn the WSJ into a paper version of Fox News is going to backfire bigtime. He's betting the farm on the market value of right wing spin just as that right wing spinning is winding its way down.
More and more Americans are coming to see his propaganda for exactly what it is, propaganda. At least Fox News is free propaganda. But who is going to pay to get right-wing spin delivered daily to their door?
The Washington Times ought to hire up the rats leaving the sinking WSJ ship and shift their paper to heavily cover business news.
I sincerely hope your right, and not giving the American public more credit for analytical thinking skills than they deserve, after all, G. Bush DID get elected, and then RE-elected prez.
Uh Oh.
AtheismIsReality and libsRfunny agree.
Apocalypse has arrived.
it's not like we didn't see this coming. surprised it didn't happen sooner. murdoch will bring in his own team. what are the odds the editor of the UK Sun tabloid has already got his bags packed for the move across the big pond? just kidding...... well, almost ;)
But, now it can have comics.
lRf, you got this right, also increased propaganda, as well as more advertising.
