James,

You continue to out do yourself week after week with these WIR. Kudos and thanks!

avatar
Reply

Thanks James. Great job. Someday I hope to think of something witty enough to get included in your WIR.

avatar
Reply

ET, I'm sure you've been in some past WIRs. Or am I wrong?

avatar
Reply

Oops. Musta been that time I had temporary blindness and couldn't surf the site. :)

avatar
Reply

Hey ET want a few lessons? LOL

avatar
Reply

It was just probably hysterical blindness ET.

avatar
Reply

Maybe the other ET?

This one definitely deserves the kudos.

ET keep your comments coming. I enjoy reading them. It will only be a matter of time before you hit the WIR.

How about President Buckheadd?

avatar
Reply

can I be your VP...

avatar
Reply

Ha... That spot is taken already, but you can compete against her... And if I think you are better than her, I will give you the spot..

avatar
Reply

Buckheadd is not the person you want taking calls at 3am. Actually don't call me at 3am either. but never mind that now... Buckheadd does not have the leadership experience I have necessary to be president.

I once worked as a busboy, which proves I have experience moving a lot of crap around.. I am the clearly the best candidate.

VOTE for ME!

Hey truthiness you can't have my job.

I am currently beating Buckheadd in this highly scientific poll 10 to 8... I now have momentum heading into the new week.

James, how could you miss the story about Giselle Bundchen possibly starring in the next Austin Powers movie?!

Just kidding...

When's that interview going to show up here on Propeller? Or did I miss it?

avatar
Reply

Oh, we're doing a special, Bundchen-themed issue of the WIR next week--all Giselle, all the time. As for the Errol Morris interview, it should be up on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

avatar
Reply

All Giselle, all the time! That'll boost the ratings! :)

I'll check in on Monday on the Errol Morris interview, looking forward to it.

Enjoy your weekend as well.

avatar
Reply

Looking forward to the Morris interview! Thanks for the heads up James. And yes indeed the weekly recap is a nice feature, one that owes it's success largely to it's writer's style I think. Keep up the good work!

The Iraq war story brought in 171 votes and 228 comments.

Some high points included ML2007 said:

"This article should be mandatory reading for every man and woman in America. How anyone can read this article and not question what we as a country has done, is beside me. I found it interesting that this article was written by foreigners. Maybe other countries around the world can keep the fires built and the pressure on to bring the Bush crowd to justice. If these are not war crimes, exactly what are? The US does not have and has never had the right to make a preemptive strike on a sovereign nation. Does this thought make me anti American or unpatriotic? NO! It makes me patriotic because I want to return this run away government back to its people, and I want its people to be delivered by the tyrants who have been practicing treason to our Constitution."

Anyone remember Point/Counterpoint on SNL? Seeing Obama and Clinton on stage together conjures up memories of Dan Akroyd saying to Jane Curtin: "Jane, you ignorant sl ut."

TGIF, another great thing about Fridays is the WIR. Thanks James.

A good review as usual

Please read my comments more carefully next time. I would never use the absence of evidence as proof for anything.

avatar

Prove it!

avatar
Reply

Real proofs are hard to come by.

avatar
Reply

Not in mathematics. I have plenty of books loaded with proofs.

avatar

Yes, mathematics is an exception.

It was a direct quote, Candida, but perhaps you could clarify? I wasn't trying to distort what you said.

avatar
Reply

I know you were not trying to distort what I said, but it's still misleading. This part is not a quote: "pointed a finger at the CIA, and cited one of Donald Rumsfeld's Greatest Hits to prove her point"

If you follow the thread from nikkibabe's comment, it is clear that I did not use that statement as confirmation of CIA role. Nikkibabe him/herself used a question mark, expressing doubt. The CIA did come to my mind too, but I was in no way certain of it. I wrote to crghss's question: "No, I'm just guessing like you."

To this crghss replied: "I'm not guessing. There is no evidence to suggests that the USA is in Iran."

My response referred to his, reminding him that the fact that he'd seen no evidence, does not prove that the USA was not in Iran. This wouldn't have been the first time when the population was not fully informed. I used it to raise doubt, not to prove their involvement.

Obama screwing the Democrat Party.

He and his campfollowers contend that the Bush and the Clinton administration are the same. His insistence that he thinks that the job creation, lowering the national debt, strengthening the dollar and maintain low oil pricing is not important and equivalent to the Bush administration pushes the Clinton Democrats and the GOP into a singular camp.

Does he thing he can win the Whitehouse with 25% of the population solidly behind him?

Reaching across the Isles? He can't even reach across the divide he has created within the democratic party.

I suggest a propeller award for the most inappropriate moniker be awarded to this poster.

Might be fun at year's end to instigate some "competition" - including comment of the year, perhaps.. But other categories too - most offensive to slip under the radar, for example.

[I'm NOT volunteering to sift through however many million comments to select the candidates. It would require someone of immense tolerance and diplomacy who is also not boring.. I hope I don't strike out on the last.]

Like tehranchik??!!
