Wal-Mart to boost supply of organic cotton

News – Wal-Mart Stores Inc said on Monday that it purchased more than 12 million pounds of cotton from farmers who are changing over from conventional to organic farming, to help boost the supply of certified organic cotton in the marketplace."We heard from our supplier and other partners ... that this was necessary in the market,"

Ah, the gray area, there isn't just not-organic and then suddenly organic when it comes to farming. Wal-Mart is really trying to change their reputation with this and with moves like their new green-leaning ads. Much more to do but its a start.

Actually, it is a good business deal for WalMart. Face it, you see the main difference between an 'organic Agriculture product' vice one that is not, it's the PRICE. You can charge more when you slap an organic label on something because those that are into it will pay more to feel good inside. Note they will still get products from China which has a shaky at best record in terms of the use of ORGANIC. So they are going to make money.
