Blah blah blah. He was a good actor who was a tool of the NRA.

I knew someone would make an extremely moronic statement. No surprise you were first.

I am sorry LibsRfunny I didn't mean to negative your comment, I was aiming for the one above it.

And its no surprise that you would respond in your usual 'jerk-style'.

Never fear, I gave you a neg and INTENDED to!

He also marched in the Civil Rights marches. Heston believed in the rights of the people, period.

Everyone knows that today's actors must be tools of Al Gorebbels and George Soros!

Great actor, great man. One in a million from the hollywood crowd that stayed married more than 24 hours.

El Cid is a beautiful movie to watch. I've always thought that you couldn't make it today, with Christians actually fighting Islamic aggression. How racist of them!

Apparently, Gimpy is a big fan of Islamic aggression.

I wonder if they'll bury him in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The Omega man is dead. When I was a kid, he was one of my favorite actors. I liked him in Ben Hur, and The Planet of the Apes and Omega Man as well. I'll never forget that immortal scene at the end of Planet of the Apes where he is riding on the beach on horse back with Nova when he finally figures out he is back on earth after seeing the statue of liberty. It was very dramatic. "Oh my God! You finally did it, you maniacs....Damn you all to hell!" Or the other scene where he finally recovers his powers of speech and shocks his primate captors, "Take your hands off of me you filthy apes".

Rest in peace Mr. Heston.

Truly a great actor and a great American. What happened to him shouldn't happen to anyone. Maybe, when everyone in the world wakes up and stops killing each other, we can finally devote all those resources to curing diseases like Alzheimers.

Rest in peace, Mr. Heston...you will be missed.

His passing is a great loss to the world! I remember going to the movie theater and watching him in the movies. And watching him performing with Sophia Lauren and many others!

Prayers for his family and friends!

Thanks GregD!

RIP, but please! Bad (OK, mediocre) actor--and a gun-hugger.

Let's not let nostalgia for the movies of our collective youth cloud our sense of who the man actually was.

(I'm counting on those out there who think similarly to counter the, er, buckshot this post will undoubtedly receive. At least there's no argument FOR his skills as actor.)

Poulenc--

You are entitled to your opinion.

And I am entitled to call you a slackjawed liberal.

Thanks again to Heston and all of those like him that serve the cause of freedom every day.

Heck yes he fought for gun rights! Gun rights for law abiding citizens is what guarantees all of our freedoms and our security. To all of those who have been taking those rights for granted, we all have a little more work to do to continue Heston's tireless efforts.

Although you've both tried to politicize this, you'd be more accurate if you simply referred to him as a slackjawed bonehead. You're both letting your tendency to cubbyhole everyone as either "liberal" or "conservative," and guess what, regardless of what you both think, the world is not black and white, and anyone who clings to all of the tenets of either ideology is apparently an automaton incapable of making decisions for themselves as to what's wrong and right.

But then, it's always easier to let someone else tell you what to think.

Right! Now call your controller at the DNC and find out what to post next!

"And I am entitled to call you a slackjawed liberal."

I hope you'll forgive me for intruding, but did you feel better after saying this? Because I think I can pretty much guarantee that Poulenc enjoyed it immensely.

Are people who, for whatever reason, badmouth the dead (especially among those who hold the deceased in high esteem) worth our attention?

Did they finally pry that gun from "his cold dead hands?"

Just checking.

No, but apparently, the Libs here are picking over his corpse. Maybe you can take his watch too while you're at it.

avatar

No. He can keep the gun...

We'll carry the standard for his cause.

Looks like you are just plain clouded. He supported second amendment rights. If he supported abortion, you likely would praise him. But, you are free to make asinine statements, no matter how wrong and tasteless.

Your jerk-liek commentary is on a roll here!!

"Let's not let nostalgia for the movies of our collective youth cloud our sense of who the man actually was."

You mean one of the courageous who marched with Dr. King?

avatar

Despite I like most of his films, I have to agree with you that his acting skill is only average. Glad you make the point as most people tend to associate favourable characteristics to their idols (or people they like).

avatar
Reply

I would also have to agree, I would compare him to Harrison Ford both are big stars liked by everyone but not great actors they basicly just play themselves on screen

avatar
Reply

Yeah, bigger than life people.

avatar
Reply

I rather liked him as Long John Silver in Treasure Island. It was a made for TV movie, but it is the best rendition of the story I have seen, and it beats that pants off the silly Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

He was a generation or two before mine, but I'll always remember that quote from The Planet of The Apes (the only movie I've seen with him starring)

"Get your hands off me, you damn dirty ape!"

avatar
Reply

here's the line:

"Take your stinking paws off of me you damn dirty ape!"

according to wiki

they just played it on the news and I looked it up to see if my ears heard it right

also that is one of the all-time great movie scores, period

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUR-OdR3egU

have we ruined it, us maniacs?

thin allegory roll reversal of apes being ashamed to be descended from people, and not only does the blasphemy go unnoticed by those it was meant for, but it works wonderfully as an adventure film

great stuff

He really was larger than life. As a Christian even to this day if I close my eyes and think of Moses I see him. I don't know who else could have done it.Blessings and RIP

Sadly, all the money in the world doesn't buy one's good health.

Well ya know, even with all the money in the world, most bodies wear out in 80 something years

Yeah, especially, if one doesn't have the wherewithal to take care of one's very own precious body.

i would say for someone who was 85 he was in damn good shape

Oldest living animal on the planet is 405 to 410 years old. Do ya think with people's intelligence (Sarcasm), people should be the oldest living creature on this planet?

"Do ya think with people's intelligence (Sarcasm), people should be the oldest living creature on this planet?"

No. A dumb animal can live much longer than an intelligent human. It isn't in our DNA.

Just like what scientists and doctors have been saying, there is no reason why people shouldn't live to be at least 150 years old.
