Renzi has been on the Citizens for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington (CREW) list of most corrupt congressmen for 3 years - glad to see that inspite of Rove guidance to go after only Dems that Renzi is now indicted!
The same CREW list has 22 congressmen on it, all repugs except 4 dems. The only Semnators on the list are 4 Repugs led by the likes of Ted Stevens, the "bridges to nowhere" and you don't have to tell Congress the truth guy!

PHOENIX (AP) -- Federal authorities announced corruption charges Friday accusing Rep. Rick Renzi of engineering a swap of federally owned mining land to benefit himself and a former business partner and stealing from his insurance company's clients.
A lengthy federal investigation that had put the three-term Republican congressman under a cloud for more than a year culminated in a 26-page indictment issued Thursday against him and two other men. Renzi announced Aug. 23 that he wouldn't run for re-election in Arizona's mostly rural 1st Congressional District.

Seems they didn't fir enough federal prosecutors.
So sad. Republicans used to want to investigate everyone's sex life but nobody's finances. Now they don't want ANY investigations except when the target is a Democrat. And the "Justice" department has been purged of prosecutors who won't walk i lockstep with that blatantly political agenda. What a sad day for democracy.

Though I do belive that any corruption in government is bad and should be dealt with; Isn't it funny that the Feds can always find time to charge GOP folk for stuff like this, yet when it comes to Harry Reid and Barack Obama, their little 'land deals' don't seem to be a problem. Then the usual suspects on this site sit and beat their scrawny little chests about how it's not surprising that the GOP has warts, as they somehow can't see the advanced stages of leprosy afflicting their chosen guys and gals.

If you're a pedophile you can hide amongst the clergy and the public gives you much undo respect. If you're a thief you can hide amongst the republicans who claim to be the most moral.
Of course someone, in this case BoBo would mention the ONE or TWO Democrats. It is a moronic and feeble effort to defend the dozens of Republicans..It may work in the first grade, but we're smarter than that.. Check the score BoBo.
It's approx. 21-4.

so what did happen with that case against "Cold Cash" Jefferson, oh never mind, I forgot we can't talk about that, he (and many others in the past that some choose to forget) he is a Democrat. And then there is the buddy of Obama's that's on trial now. That is if being a buddy of someone is illegal.

Jefferson has not been indicted I believe which is quite amazing with a Bush Justice Department looking more closely at Dems! Remember that even Hastert was up in arms when the Bush Justice Department illegally went into Jefferson's house and found that money in the freezer.
Jefferson in only one of 4 Dems on the CREW list of 22 most corrupt - all the rest are Repigs, excuse me, repugs!

We ken talk bout Jefferson if you want to zaphy!
But I guess the reason so many more Republcians are turnin out to not have such good conscicences is on accounta Republicanism is FOUNDED on a distrust of goverment.
Dontcha remember Ronald reagans claim that 'Goverment IS the problem!'..
See, thats how we Conservatives see goverment. So, Republicans get elected, and since they dont care bout goverment - that its just there to line folks pockets, our Republicans decide to line their own pockets!
Them Democrats, they are still operatin from a place of public service!!
HA!
How naive! We Conservatives gave up on effective goverment long time ago.
Why poeple still vote for Republicans I jus dont know.

So your answer to a present criminal is to go back to the past??
Nice way to open the door for more corruption..How foolish.

Exactly my thoughts! And for McCain to pretend to be surprised by the indictments? Puh-leeze!! The man is his AZ campaign manager, which means he knows him quite well and he also knew about the charges lodged against him. Maybe all republicans aren't corrupt, but it certainly seems that way to me! McCain hangs with entirely too many who are coming up dirty, and he has narrowly escaped prosecution himself for corruption. I can't even believe he's being touted as an "honest" politician! Maybe he's considered honest by republican standards??

I was thinking the exact same thing... except replace the word "democrats" with "mafia".

Yeah the Republican mafia. They have Bush as a captain. But the Capo? Who knows who is really in charge. LOL
I laugh but it is a bitter laugh.

Almost makes me wonder about the people who defend the 'gop.' I'd think most would be scrambling to take 'their' party back.

KLARRIS, 22 on the CREW list and only 4 are Dems! The only senators being 4 Repug Senators on the list.
Its simple math Klarris that you must have also failed! Oh, I remember now, its the new, new math out in California where someone is correct for ingenuity, not the right answer!
