The bridge in Khabarovsk in eastern Russia vanished overnight and was part of the only road leading to a local heating plant. Now staff at the plant have to find alternative routes to work.

How does one steal a bridge without making enough noise to alert someone? It is one matter to blow up such a bridge, but another matter entirely to steal it. Where did they load the scrap metal, and how is it no one noticed the noise?
