Propeller Week In Review: January 11, 2008

News – Not surprisingly, the New Hampshire primary took center stage this week at Propeller. But our community also sounded off about Obama's church, Iran's navy, and some exciting news on the astronomical front.

Gads, how could I have missed FSU92's sparkling wit. I thought he was dead. Having looked at the review, I had to review the week. Ha!

Thanks, James.

Old Propeller members never die--they just fade away and return with a new avatar and some kind of Star Trek-style cloaking device to hide the banished IP.

lol!!! Isn't that the truth. ;~]

LOL, I've seen that happen many times!! Interesting how they get "reincarnated" but don't realize their style is still quite evident.

What would we be without our style - even if our style is being a chameleon?

I missed it too, sumpt, and did the same thing (but hours later) -- checked back through the whole thread. ybdogst's contributions were immaculate as always -- fair drove old FSU from the board, with the usual armfuls of 'negs'.

Enjoy these weekly reviews, JM. They must be pretty time-consuming to compile.

Can I get that in small bills? Unmarked? In a brown paper bag, which you can leave in the hollow tree near my house?

Got cut off. It might be worth more than greenbacks

Now that you mention it, there were a few boxes of Fudge Shoppe and Chips Deluxe in there. Plus some little guy in a green blazer--possibly a terrorist of some sort.

A mini terrorist in a green blazer with chocolate on his lips, Head for the hills!! ;)

Chocolate???? Did I hear you mention Chocolate n2n????

Hi, I'm EE and I'm a Chocoholic....

I'm glad someone else out there likes to lighten up once in a while. if we took ourselves and this world too serious, we'd go nuts and all kill ourselves. Of course then the over population problem would be solved

avatar
Reply

I love to lighten up, one of my favorite things to do, of course it depends on what you are lighting up....

avatar
Reply

But EE, chocolate IS good for you! The best antidepressant in the world!

avatar
Reply

I know it is good for me, that is what I use as my rational reason with all those riboflavins and it is the same color as my feathers.

avatar
Reply

Of course lightening up someone always gets offended, and it's important to laugh at yourself too.

Twenty dollars worth of tiny unblemished sparrow's bills are being placed in a hollow tree near your house as we speak!

avatar

Do they know we moved our nest??

Are they dipped in chocolate??

avatar
Reply

James asked for small bills, not small bills dipped in chocolate

avatar
Reply

OOOhhh, ok, got you, I have just never tried sparrow bills and was hoping you were giving me some dipped in chocolate.

Hi, I'm EE and I am a Chocoholic........

I was told chocolate was not good for our feathered friends!

LOL!

Hi SB, I know, but I am a chocoholic, what can I say,

You've outdone yourself, Mr. Marcus. Your reviews get better and better each week. I'm just glad you're not in the WGA!

Well, since we are reflecting on the week, perhaps it is germane to note that the week's most popular story (iran and the navy) turned out to be mostly deceptive.

U.S. military inflicts more damage on its own credibility

News รข;; It seems increasingly clear that the U.S. military's initial claims about its interaction with those five Iranian speed boats in the Strait of Hormuz was exaggerated in significant ways, approaching Jessica Lynch/Pat Tillman/Iraq-is-going-great territory.

Official Version of Naval Incident Starts to Unravel

WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (IPS) - Despite the official and media portrayal of the incident in the Strait of Hormuz early Monday morning as a serious threat to U.S. ships from Iranian speedboats that nearly resulted in a "battle at sea", new information over the past three days suggests that the incident did not involve such a threat and that no U.S. commander was on the verge of firing at the Iranian boats...

Thanks for the story.. and the mention...

when you get quoted you know you are in the big time...15 minutes and all..

but I've said things I thought were much more profound....

Thanks for your recap for the week.

Hmm...I'm not so sure "our community 'sounded off' about Obama's church" with 49 members sinking the story.

On the other hand, Propeller could sure teach Diebold and New Hampshire about voting.

This week was a first for me; endoscopy and I actually agreed on something. (but don't tell him)

me too.. and Wolfie also.. two in one week...

scary isn't it!!

Sinking a story is a form of sounding off. And there was certainly a lively conversation there. As for you and Endoscopy agreeing--can world peace be far behind?

avatar

Or the apocalypse?

One or the other, anyway.

The confrontation with the Iranian speedboats was not exaggerated. It was as ridiculous as the 2004 fat nosed bin Laden. I quote: "I dunno -I'd expect any Frenchman to correctly identify Inspector Clouseau's fake accent..." http://cernigsnewshog.blogspot.com/2008/01/iran...

Did I offend any believers in the fat nosed bin Laden?

My reviews of the week:

. What will McCain and Guiliani would do if peace transcends on earth? No countries to invade and no wars to start.

. Iranian gun boats and US navy. Is it a coincidence that this fabrication occurred when the cowboy is visiting Israel?

. Marion Jones sent to prison. I would like to see some baseball millionaires sent there. Will it ever happen? No. Looking back at Leona Helmsely, (in)justice in your country is very much male oriented.

. McCain spoke like he won the Presidency. Warmonger needs know that there are 48 more states left.

. US Navy & CIA have tapes of US fabricated Iranian gunboat controversy. What happened to the torture videos?

Irans "confrontation" may very well not be a coincidence. They want to stay on the front page. But I'm wondering what the heck Bush hopes to accomplish this late in his presidency. Is he desperately trying to leave a legacy or does he just want a vacation. But one guess is Israel is getting ready to do something and he's showing our support.

I really like your writing style, and again I love your recap, gives me a chance to go back and see what I've missed.

A big High Five (Primary feathers pointing skyward)

If you're talking to me, thanks, especially for the uplifted primary feathers. That doesn't happy every day.

avatar

Yes I'm talking to you and I'm happy to give you a Primary High Five!!

avatar

It is primary season.

The Straight of Hormuz Naval confrontation may go down in history with the great California brush fire terrorist plot. Let's hope it does not lead to war with Iran and possibly Russia and China.

James your recaps are so evenhanded and well done. Have you considered an independent run for the presidency? You may not have Bloomberg's money (heck I don't know maybe you do../ but don't tell him) or Ross Perot's inspiring good looks (Good grief be thankful)or even the unclouded mental viscosity of Lyndon LaRouche (again be thankful) but dare I say you could count on us propellerheads to vote for you even if your campaign has no content whatsoever. LOL :-)

(Nice work, please continue!)
