The initial costs of living green can sometimes be daunting--"Should I add solar panels, a composting toilet, wind power?"--but you don't have to go that large-scale all at once. The key to going green is understanding what to do when, whether you're remodeling your old house or trying to decide between straw bale or prefab modular construction for your new house.

Going Green can be as easy as just recycling or other small things along with the changes mentioned in this story.

I look forward to building our new log cabin that will be as green and far off the grid as possible!

Not only will it be economical to go green but we'd be doing a great service to those who'll be inheriting this world. Sweet as post.

Thanks so much to everyone for your comments!!! I really, really appreciate the feedback. How do you feel about the "what do we do" question? Are you all doing something actively? Since I saw "The 11th Hour," and I know this is melodramatic, I have vowed not to buy any clothes that aren't made from recycled/sustainable materials and in sustainable ways. All the bulbs in my house are eco already, and I recycle, although not as diligently as I should--meaning, I've never followed my recycle truck to see how they separate stuff. But that's my next move!!! :)
