The FBI is warning that al Qaeda may be preparing a series of holiday attacks on U.S. shopping malls in Los Angeles and Chicago, according to an intelligence bulletin distributed to law enforcement authorities across the country this morning.

I have fought in this war. I have seen what they are willing to do not only to others but to themselves.
Am I a chicken, no ,not by any means. I am afraid, yes, but not to the point of panic. What scares me the most is that others in this country can not see what is at stake here. This is a culture clash. And their will is a he*l of a lot stronger then ours. They will attack again, the odds are too great in there favor. One will get through. Then what will you say, we deserved it, bad info, what are we doing, thought we were winning?

there are one billion muslims. my point is that it is less than 1% that are extremists. don't you think most of them are like us and too busy trying to make ends meet than trying to convert people halfway around the world? it's a sliver of muslims. the extremists make the news. people yelling, screaming and burning stuff is a lot better for ratings then people going about their own business.

No, I do not think so. If they were "like us" they would not allow the "less than 1%" of extremists amontg them to terrorize the entire world. Even if this was true (it is not) it would not change a thing. You see, 99% of Americans are honest hard working peaceful citizens. Less than 1% are violent murderers. Nevertheless, the Americanss spend hundreds of Billions every year on police, FBI, courts, jails, security services, lawyers, locks, insurance, etc. to protect themselves nad their properties from criminals.
Similarly, we do not have a problem with the 99% (or whatever the number) of peaceful Muslims. It's the violent Islamist murderers we have a problem with.

How much of the Moslem population do the extremists represent? Not much. I have attended university alongside moslem women, many of them in the hard sciences (Chemistry, Physics etc), medicine, law etc. etc. I had the opportunity to spend some time with them, and burqa aside, they were lively, energetic and intelligent conversationalists, with real plans to go out into the world and make their own living. Neither they nor their families see this as being inconsistant with the teachings of Islam.
So, no, it is not a "culture clash". It is a bunch of sidelined, irrelevant extremists lashing out at anything they can hurt, precisely in order to provoke an extreme reaction from the West, so that they can become relevant again. Let's not give them what they want, right?

What is at stake here? Who controls which oil field is the only thing really at stake in the end.
It was someones bright idea to use fear and propaganda to allow our governments the freedom to act how they choose and not for the people, who elected them for the purpose of giving Americans a greater chance of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in this country.
If oil companies and certain families would just let technology take it's real course as far as alternative fuels and transportation, we'd have no reason to be "hated" for stealing someone's land and oil for our profit and consumption.
Although I completely respect the men and women that fought for freedom in this country, I actually feel sorry for the men and women today who have been lied to, you weren't fighting for Iraq's democracy, you were fighting to save an already defeated American dollar, and for the rights of certain families to obtain oil contracts so they can stay filthy rich.

Sometimes they are called freedom fighters and sometimes they are called terrorists, depending on who is talking about them.
The Russian and Yugoslav partizans who fought against Nazi Germany had no uniforms, nor did the French underground. Algerians used terrorist techniques to get rid of the French, and so did the Israelis to get rid of the British. You can go back even farther. Check out the origin of the word "assassin." No, this is nothing new; it just hasn't been used against Americans.

That was my point. This is new to Americans, but it's hardly new to mankind.
The problem is not that their will is stronger. The problem is that it is not at all clear what your mission is and how the current actions would lead to accomplishing it. If your mission were clear and just, you would have the will.
Tracking down terrorists and bringing them to justice would have been a clear mission. Attacking Afghanistan was already a bit iffy, but it was understandable. Attacking Iraq was bizarre and completely muddied the water on what the mission is.

False. As false as it goes. Terrorism is NOT "fighting method of the weak" but strategy of DELIBERATE MURDER OF NON-COMBATANTS to achieve political goals. Last year at Christmas the FBI arrested a muslim man who was in possession of hand grenades. The man was caught on audio recorded from an undercover agent saying he was going set them off in an upper midwest shopping mall. This same man was also recorded as saying that it is the duty of all muslims to go to local Synogogues and kill all the Jews. He said that after he bombed the mall, he was going to his local Synogogue with and gun and a knife. He said he would shoot the men and cut all the womens throats.
