Thanks, Greg. I agree. It took me a loooooong time to understand that. It was actually the book "The Artist's Way" that introduced me to the idea that I could have control over my own surroundings. Sarah Susanka's "Not So Big House" books came next and REALLY helped.
"Home" is my palace and sanctuary too. :)
