Those things that go bump in the night? About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts. And nearly one out of four, 23 percent, say they've actually seen a ghost or felt its presence, finds a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos.

"About one out of five people, 19 percent, say they accept the existence of spells or witchcraft. Nearly half, 48 percent, believe in extrasensory perception, or ESP."
"The most likely candidates for ghostly visits include single people, Catholics and those who never attend religious services. By 31 percent to 18 percent, more liberals than conservatives report seeing a specter."

I don't believe in ghosts, I don't believe in ghosts....
I think I've felt a few, and probably seen one or 2, but I don't believe, or rather I don't want to, ok I'm cool with the benign ones, quiet ones (even tho I think we have a snoring one here) but the meanie ghosts??? NOOOOooooooooooooooooooo
And I definately never want to hear any whispering or 'growling' or moaning..from a spirit at least ;-)
Casper is always welcome :-)

Jaydee40:
Actually Catholics can be explained because they are more open to dead relatives, Saints, Angels visiting them. Read up on some of the saints. You'd be amazed at the experiences they've had.
Julian of Norwich Revelations of Divine Love )She wrote her book in the 1300's)
St Theresa of Avalon (she writes about levitation. She actually levitated._
St John of the Cross wrote a book.
There are others. Just go to Amazon and type in a couple fo those names you'd be amazed at what you'd find.

Don't tell anyone...but I have witnessed some strange unanswerable happenings !!!>>>>
So have I. You might want to read 'Parallel Universes' by Max Tegmark.

It was very 'spooky' when I received his article from the Scientific American. A physicist was talking about what I'd been secretly thinking for years, because of those 'unanswerable' happenings!

Here's the story
The father had a business in which he kept two sets of books -- one for the wife and one for real. the reason was because he was much more generous than his wife would want him to be. Well, he died. We were packing up the house so that the wife could move into an apartment. we also knew about the two sets of books.
We taped and closed all the furniture, including a chest of drawers. We went out of the room where this chest of drawers. NO ONE WAS IN THE ROOM!!! We heard something and something that looked the husband walk out of the room. I guess his ghost. We went back into the room and noticed that one of the drawers was open. We knew we had closed and taped all the drawers. inside the drawer which had magically opened there were the second set of books!!!

Thanks for the post, STONERS.
I have had a 'passing' interest in Ghosts and 'the other side' (?) since high school - I wrote my very first term paper about Ghosts for senior English (college prep). I got a bunch of books from the nearest University library, and after reading them I didn't want to turn off my bedroom light at night for a while.
The SciFi program "Ghost Hunters" has renewed my interest, and I am a big fan of that series. They have been able to capture, on video and on audio, some very intriguing and otherwise 'unexplainable' images and voices from their investigations.
By the way, the Ghost Hunters are doing a "live" investigation on Halloween night. They are returning to the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, a vacated structure that has a huge reputation for 'hauntings'. The TAPS team captured some 'evidence' on their previous visit.

I saw that one, creepy place for sure. I am the same bubba, I love this stuff because it fascinates me but also scare the *** out of me. I think I would chicken out in the end. There is a kids show on in Canada called Ghost Trackers, I watch it with my 7 year old son, he loves this stuff too.

I used to get them a lot in the old residence in Detroit. Usually when I was playing alone in the basement rec room.
Prior to those I had visits at grandmother's in Riverdale Maryland. I lived there for a while in early childhood.
For some reason I really didn't like the attic that was converted into my bedroom. Sometimes houses make odd noises so I discount them today. Yet there are times...? I've met a few people that have described personal encounters with phenomena and have witnessed a couple of oddities associated with them. The most profound would be the banging closet door that interrupted a little banging of my own. The most interesting observation I've made in a very unscientific way, Is that most occurrences seem to coincide with times of high stress, or intense emotional energy. Perhaps this lends weight to the theory that these sitings are projected.

Want to know something funny and sad, out of all you just posted the only part that sank in was the "The most profound would be the banging closet door that interrupted a little banging of my own." part....lol Kinda like trying to make it with the dog sitting at the end of the bed watching you was it?

If you ever see a ghost, walk right up and shake hands with it.
I know no one wants to hear this, but ask me if I care what you want to hear! The first lie recorded is, "You will not surely die." People still buy into that lie today. Know the truth and be free!
Benign? No such thing! Absolutley nothing you want to be around! Paralell universe? Perhaps that is as good as any non-religious answer the world has. On the religious front, thought, Satan has lots of lies to feed you. Immortality is just one.

I find four-leaf clovers ALL the time. I've found thousands of 'em over the years. It's just a mutated gene, nothing superstitious. About 1 out of 10,000 clovers are four-leafed. If you find one, the chances that you'll find another in the same spot are good, as they grow on runners. I pick them and give them away to strangers I pass on the street. Lol. It's amazing how many people have never seen one.
I also talked to a dead guy once, using a Ouija board. The article didn't mention Ouija boards, though. More about that should be looked into.

i Puffin, I wonder about Ouija boards. As a teenager we used to play around with them, and I had some strange experiences, but I still question if it was just the other person I was with moving it. One did fly off the board once though, and not in a push like way. Let's just say that ended that for me.
