Congratulations, Mr. Gore!

Helping bring awareness about global climate change, and a call to action on dealing with it, is noble work.

Now we are going to have to contend with increased carbon emissions from the screams of blind, inchoate hatred of the "Right" in this country, who would rather see Rush Limbaugh get the Nobel Peace Prize for no good reason.

Watch it happen, right here...

It's going to happen all over the net. People will be denouncing the Nobel Prize, making 'Goracle" Jokes, and god knows what else for weeks if not months. Anything to distract from the reality of the situation and how much good the man has done.

Oh, I see, this is your disingenuous attempt to show that you don't disparage Al Gore and global climate change every chance you get...and all your sycophants who jump on that bandwagon with you.

That's what I wanted to know. I just congratulated Mr. Gore.

It is sad to see that the Nobel Peace Prize process has degraded to such an extent. This year 1/2 of the prize has been awarded to Mr. Gore and 1/2 to IPCC on what grounds? This is a Very Sad day for the Nobel.org to award such a distinguished honor on a person who has used lies, falsehood, and exaggerations to promote himself and his company that was established to cash in on the "man made" global warming hoax.

LMAO...you're very amusing.

LOL...cape...you're so funny...but if true, according to your requirements, my guess is Shrub, Cheney and most of the others within this current administration will never have a chance of getting the Nobel, either. If lies, falsehoods and exaggerations are the litmus test, then no prize for them! Ha!

LOL, now u wouldnt want someone who is working for peace to get a peace prize, would you? maybe mr "freedoms on the march" should get the rpize for all the work he has done in iraq to lower the population. And his great job of keeping kids from getting health insurance. Or maybe the private contractors should get it. Your hatred for humanity never ends. What is really sad is that u probobly beleive the things that u say. Well u and bush can keep doing the devils work and men like al gore will keep doing gods work.and lets see what happens on judgement day :)

Congratulations are well deserved by Mr Gore, however in the past, there were often times the Nobel Peace Prize has not made much difference in future events. Hopefully this time the world community will fully take notice & work in harmony to improve the ecological status of our planet

@capecoralM

Are you on dope or just dopey in general.

Take away Jimmy Carters's peace prize and give it to the great humanitarian George W. Bush. He is such a deep thinker.

More appropriately a wanker.

Here is a web site just for you capecoralM

It is interesting to see the self proclaimed intellectuals here inject a series of Bush is that Bush is this Cape you are stupid, when in fact my statement about the Nobel org mentioned nothing of Bush. My post was in response to the FACT that Al Gore Founded a company in 2004 that sells Carbon Offsets and in fact by the Way he purchases his from. I was simply pointing out that the Marketing Campaign Al Gore has been preaching has been debunked even by his Co-Winner the IPCC. Not to mention 1000s of other notable scientists around the world who are not among those that have formed a group think "consensus" that the 1 degree rise in temperature in the past century is "Man-Made". But the attempted deflection from the fact that AL Gore is a fraud by bringing up the War on Islamic Extremist Terrorism fits the mold. And as usual the SOP of those resistant to new discoveries on the matter of earth science and theories other than "man-made" is simply reinforced.

@capecoralM at least Gore's money isn't tainted with the blood of my fellow americans.

Vice President Dick Cheney's stock options in Halliburton rose from $241,498 in 2004 to over $8 million in 2005, an increase of more than 3,000 percent, as Halliburton continues to rake in billions of dollars from no-bid/no-audit government contracts.

I speak and work along with scientists who do research in the field who have considerably more credibility than you - the word from them is that "We are Fuched"

Interesting Point. When the LOGCAP contract was awarded to Kellogg Brown & Root by Bill Clinton and again won by KBR in open bidding who could have know Halliburton would merge with KBR. I wonder, since Cheney has pledged to give every penny of any profits from his pension to Charity i assume the money helped many people.

SO please share these peoples names and research so that we can all see it. Saying we are fuched is not really enough to go on. Who is the we and how are we fuched?

"Cheney has pledged to give every penny of any profits from his pension to Charity i assume the money helped many people."

How can you assume "the money helped many people" before Cheney has donated it. It sits in a blind trust collecting interest. He could donate it today if thats what he really wanted to do but he chooses not to. Why?

Cheney lies like a rug see the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3hRvj22RWs

I can safely assume Cheney will die long before any donation happens and leave it to his family. This is more his style. Similar in nature to the five deferments that he used to avoid going to Vietnam and serving his country. Yea he's real honorable and would never break his pledge!

The gullibility of some people is unbelievable.

Cape - It is sad to see an ignoramus post his ignorance for the world to scorn at. You really must educate yourself. Global warming is an established fact that is occuring this very moment. The uncertainties are about the relevant causes, the rapidity and degree of severity it will reach, the extent of harm it will wreak on our earth, and the remedies to reverse or to just lessen the impact.

For Gore to make a couple million dollars off his work in no way negates the truth and significance of his achievements. Nor does it come to a fraction of what the anti-global warming industries make out of denying GW.

Consider - oil, auto, timber, mining, tires, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, energy generation, waste disposal, agriculture, defense industries, etc. All stand to make BILLIONS out of denying GW and continuing practices that continue to pollute and add to the environmental damage.

Consider - If global warming is a hoax and human generated CO2 is not the cause, why

avatar

should we give a damn about the smog and pollution now being generated by China, India, and most of the rising 3rd world countries? Our country still generates far more pollutants than the 2 countries combined; and you feel that GW is a hoax. Therefore, we should leave them alone and not talk them into cleaning up their industries. Let every country generate as much smog and atmospheric toxins they want. OURS did not cause GW, therefore, THEIRS shouldn't either.

I would respectfully suggest two things. The US is not the world's largest polluter. Later in this discussion I have posted the data supporting this contention to your unfounded statements. I am suggesting that historical data suggests that atmospheric C02 has risen in the past without a Man Made influence. It is estimated that ALL human activity has contributed less the 5% to the increase in atmospheric C02. What seems to be happening is that there is not so much of a concern about the rise in temp. but rather an extremist environmental posture has emerged from this unexplained phenomenon. Many as you do make the claim that C02 is a pollutant. Yet C02 is a natural element. And to your last question the question why C02 has risen is still a mystery yet Al Gore established a company in 2004 that sells carbon offsets claiming that man is the cause and that he can sell them a solution. How that equates to peace I am not sure but obviously some feel strongly that it does.

I'm generally on your side on this, but the CO2 is natural argument is distorted: Asbestos is natural. Arsenic is natural. Uranium is natural. It's natural to die when all you blood spills out on the street, or the forest floor, human or animal.

Natural does not mean a lot when we are talking about "good for you".

On the other hand, I'm not so sure that Gore has worked "For the peace and brotherhood of men", so I'm not sure why he is eligible for other than partisan political reasons.

Am I a sycophant because I believe that ever since Arafat won it, the Peace Prize has lost much of its' luster?, that has nothing to do with Gore.

Also while what Mr. Gore is trying to do about global warming is a positive endevour, I fail to see the relevance to peace.

Let me ask you a question, Hannibal.

Is there anyone, who, in this year, could have won the prize and reestablished your faith in the Peace Prize?

In a world full of violent hotspots, who comes to mind that is trying to cool them down? I can't for the life of me think of any.

And as for Gore, while he does deserve recognition and praise for his efforts the Peace Prize is the wrong award.

It's a sad thing for humanity if we reach a time nobody believes anyone deserves the Nobel Peace Prize;

I think Mr. Gore will do just fine.

To me global warming does not equate peace.

Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Lester Pearson yes.

But when people like this, Henry Kissinger, y arafat, win there is no way that the prize is being awarded in the purpose it was designed, just becoming another political tool.

And why was the award created? Do you know? Is it conceivable to you that there are people with moral blemishes in their past who are capable of redeeming themselves or do you think nobody deserves as second chance?

avatar

Depends on how broad or how narrow your perspective on peace is, HB. We certainly can't live in peace if we're at war with our planet! In that sense, Mr. Gore is very much deserving of the peace prize for waving a red flag and expanding awareness of the need to reign in our reckless disregard of the critical needs of mother earth.

I try to console myself with the knowledge that the vast majority of those claiming that he doesn't deserve it probably have no clue what the purpose of the award is in the first place.

Gore deserves the Peace Prize just for letting the 2000 election shenanigans 'go' for the 'good' of the country.

an eternally weird piece of video, tho, watching him gavel down people voicing objections to the voter disenfranchisement that helped him lose the presidency

Our government and our media are controlled by bankers the CFR, the trilateral commission etc, so the bankers own both sides of the argument.

This may be a way for Gore to do something that is somewhat outside the control of the international banking cartel.

He didn't argue the election issue because he was told not to.

Bush was their man. They needed he and Cheney to initiate 911 and the iraq police action.

Anyone who doesn't think that this was all planned, needs to watch less tv.
