I wonder if the nations attitude towards guns will change now that the people being killed are not from the inner-city?

My attitude towards guns has changed not at all. My attitude towards children, however; grows a bit darker.

Maybe one day when enough them are dead you'll suspect a correlation between the two.

spare us. If you consider them children, consider the thousands of "children" that have died in Iraq. That needs a hell or a lot more attention at present.

So what kind of 'child' gets shot in the leg at 2AM and then refuses to tell the police anything about the shooting? This looks like a case of organized crime, along the lines of a dispute between drug dealers, and not a random shooting at tall. In other words, this is the sort of crime that is best left to the authorities unless it spills over and an uninvolved party is also shot at - the kind of problem that an armed, law-abiding citizen can and should deal with in a constructive way until the police can get to the scene. One thing is painfully obvious, though. College students should never be treated as children and denied firearms for personal defense. They are adults and should be willing, able, and equipped to defend themselves and innocent bystanders from an outside threat. As for the presumably guilty bystanders like these clowns, though, the only good an individual with a gun can do is threaten to shoot them all if they can't keep their disputes to themselves...grrr...

Spare you what? A point I never made? How's this for what I was actually trying to say? Guns and death go together like peaches and cream. Clear enough for you yet?

That's a good answer, this is how we solve problems these days blame others!

Not enough information yet to form any opinion other than to express sorrow for the victims.

Pretty soon it will be safer for military aged people to be in Iraq than on a college campus

Two days ago, a nearby middle school had a lockdown because 'an adult male with a gun' tried entering the school building. From all indications, the school did an excellent job of securing the building and the kids. But what in the world is going on? If our kids can't be safe in their schools, where can they be safe...locked up at home?

It's a sad state of affairs at our schools. It seems the worst thing a school can call itself these days is a "gun-free zone". At least allow the students that want a carry permit to have one. It may not have prevented this particular shooting, but the madman would have known that getting away with it wouldn't be a "gimme".

That a boy! Dream for a future where every single eligible American will be carrying around a piece under their jacket...making it so easy for simple everyday tensions to escalate into Wild West-style shootouts:

Guy 1 accidentally bumps into Guy 2 with shopping cart at the local grocer.

Guy 2: Hey!

Guy 1: Sorry. Didn't see you there.

Guy 2: Why don't you watch where you're going!

Guy 1: I said I'm sorry. What else do you want from me?

Guy 2: You're a real tough guy, aren't you? (pulls out handgun)

Guy 1: The hell I am! (pulls out handgun)

(Bullets fly, blood is spilled, Second Amendment is "dutifully upheld".)

No thanks.

Of course, I didn't mean everybody should carry a gun. After what you wrote, you should never be allowed near a gun.

All I'm saying is make it legal to carry. If you are capable of carrying a gun (of which you are not as you demonstrated) and want to carry a gun nobody should tell you "this is a 'gun-free zone'. Somebody who is not civilly minded will circumvent that law to bring his gun onto campus and the guy who legally could have had a gun is left defenseless.

You assume idiots won't get their hand on guns. You assume anyone holding a gun will always think things through before pulling out the gun.

Where concealed carry is legal and unrestricted they have no problems with people shooting each other.

On the other hand, gun free zones attract psychopaths and lunatics. The media tries to hide it, but when someone does have a gun, the lunatic generally doesn't kill many. Most are cowards and as soon as they see a gun pointed at them, they get very focused on saving their own skin.

I think we should restrict that to university level where the kids are A) over 21 and B) tested for competence and C) relieved of their permit first time they are caught carrying while intoxicated.

This is a terrible tragedy.

So does the government lack the money to help to normal detectors weapons as a last resort to control access to both clubs. Soon people will be afraid to go to school.

If the institutions wanted good security, they'd find it. Government is never the answer, but we should pressure universities to hire some amazing security, like well trained Iraq vets or marines. I'm already afraid to go to school because guns aren't allowed. It seems like a better world where everyone understands WHY you don't use guns to settle disputes. Today, one person breaking the rules can have a field day and get away with it easily. I'd die happy if I knew I had a fighting chance.

If this has happened in an Islamic county or if it had something to do with Muslims then entire Zionist media and their cohorts would be committing suicide to blame Islam and put the blame on so-called Islamic extremist, when it happens in the West, it is just some civilized people had a street brawl perhaps after a couple drinks on a Saturday night. I can see a lot people 'complacentbubble' offer their valuable advice to the government. Thees kinds of things happen in the West almost everyday but they call themselves very civilized people and these kinds of things hardly happen in Japan or in some of the so called civilized countries in the world. I think they are more civilized than the West, specially the Americans. is it alright for me to blame Christianity, Judaism or Americanism. Just asking.

College ought to be a place of learning; it seems that no place is safe. Even churches are attacked from time to time. It seems that our society values less and less. When sexuality and money become our new God, this is the consequence.

Every time one of these tragedies occurs, the (overwhelming majority of) LDL's are out in force exploiting other people's suffering to try and disarm law-abiding citizens.

I became a supporter of the right to keep and bear arms after I saw the reaction(s) of the LDL's on August 19, 1991. These "people" can never be trusted to uphold the rule of law, which is why the 2nd Amendment must stand unabridged forever.

Guns kill more people and are so easily accessible that any fool can have one. You have to assume that people will act responsibly at all times in order to assume that its ok for people to have them. That is a joke. If you need more explanation talk to me. End of discussion.

Schools used to all have a gun on hand for protection, kids used to carry them to school, and they were in homes and it wasn't a problem.

In fact, statistically speaking, it's still very rare. After one crazy, there will be copycats, of course, but that's how psychopaths operate--in clusters.

Where guns are legally carried, there are far fewer problems with them. And in homes where kids are shown how to use them and allowed to use them for sports, there are very few problems.

The real problem is kids are taught to fear them, and now they hold them in awe as a result. I was in Paris in the 1970s, and porn postcards and magazines were right out on the street--and kids ignored them. It's only appealing if it's forbidden fruit.

As we've turned more fascist as a nation, politicians want to criminalize everything and they are hell-bent on infringing our rights. Our children are going to grow up in a police state. And party doesn't matter-politicians are after our rights.
