Not really. The story appears to be about political jokeying for power, something that happens in absolutely every government everywhere.
What in this news story is it exactly that made you draw this conclusion? One, I might add, that seems to be a stock-standard, unthinking, off-the-shelf, American response to anything to do with Russia.

Good Lord.
I hope shrub isn't taking notes. Shall we see Cheney suddenly have a heart attack and Jeb appointed to fill his place.
Sorry, I hate it when people leap to attacking shrub ad nauseum - but that was my very first thought when I read this.

Father of all bombs!!
The mother is the one the US uses over Iraq and afghanistan
The Father bomb is 4 times as powerful as the mother bomb

Well, as the story says, that "big" thing is next year's elections. As for the other stuff, I believe it is Russia's response to America's Empire-expanding Crusades throughout the Middle East while parking itself on Russia's front doormat. Take it as a reminder that Russia is far from dead yet.

I love it. Putin can do anything he wants...with total impunity from so many people...simply becaue of the "Bush Factor". The excuse.."well, Bush has dont this or that so its all ok". What happened to two wrongs dont make a right?
Do you realize how stupid that is? If you think America is wrong in the things it has done, then you must condemn Putin as well. Anything short of that is just intellectually dishonest.
Just curious...what country are you from and how old are you?
USA-38 here.

The U.S. bomb is equivalent to 11 tons of TNT, the Russian one is equivalent to 44 tons of regular explosives. The Russian weapon's blast radius is 990 feet, twice as big as that of the U.S. design
To dubble the blast radius you must quadruple the blast power

Russia isn't running on deficit, or borrowing money for tomorrow's lunch.
And they don't have any stupid wars, asides from ethnic uprisings in their borders which are allowed to periodically flare up for political purposes.
If you asked Germany who's their better friend (don't ask Helmut Kohl, he works for a Russian company, pushing the Baltic Sea pipeline), they're apt to answer the guy heating their house and cooking their food.
Despite the pomp and propaganda of Bush in the last few years, if you move the flags all to one side, you'll see that while the US has been bogged down in the quagmire of the middle east, Russia has been grabbing European and Asian influence, while China has been buying Africa.
With a new president in the US, a lot of things will seem different almost overnight. It's a very different world since the smokescreen of 9/11 has been blown in america's eyes, and right up america's bum.

and the REAL EVIL power in the world raises its ugly head.
Sad thing is, I have been to Russia several tiems and have found the younger generations desperate for a chance to repair the dammage communism did to their country. Too bad the fossils like Putin and the old guard woont let it happen.
If the younger Russian generations have a clue the will revolt and revolt NOW before its too late and the good old USSR returns.
They are such a intelligent and beautiful people too, its too bad Putin is more interested in measuring his e-pen and lying in bed with the Russian mob as opposed to doing whats right by his country.
WHos going to suffer in the long run......the Russian youth.

Russian young people buy wholesale into Putin's Nashi youth movement. It's not just in Russia, but in all countries where there is a sizable Russian minority population.
As someone who lives among Russians, I know what the culture they have is. Just watch Russian movies like Bumer and Brat, and that really does sum up the attitudes that most either have, or want to.

Ahh, the difference is Bush is out in one year. Disolving a government in the US like Putin is doing to setup his buddies and himself could NEVER HAPPEN.
Say what you want about the US, but eight years is all any one person can have. Our political process has a way of balancing out in the long run. Their's seems to be rigged already.
