I, personally, think that most "campaign contributions" are nothing more than legal bribes. Public financing and more oversight on officials would really clean things up.

So much of this corruption is successfully hidden from the general public......what ever happened to all the graft/greed/officials that hooked up with Jack Abramoff ??? We should be told the ENTIRE story....we have a media that is relentless on other issues!! Why not this which directly affects $$ of the middle class? Put these thugs where they belong.....in jail !

This doesn't surprise me at all. I suspect I was always wary of NJ politicians, but this only confirms it.

That is a decent question.
I think the mafia runs the tolls more than the government, because it sure seems like a racket to me...

Majority does not mean all. I lived in New Jersey for 14 years. Before McGreevey, we had a republican governor, Christie Whitman.
You are correct, though, Dems outnumber Reps in NJ. If we were to take it proportionally, we would have had 4 to 5 Republicans hands slapped and 6 to 7 Democrats. Why don't we see that?

Well now, we've got a RICO case that Mr. Christie and his boys have been sitting on for some time now. Thing is, it names two Republicans in it. Once, due to our case lost his nomination as a candidate to the Federal Bench. Even Ashcroft's office contacted us about it along with the FBI. They've done nothing. And now they want to nail some small fry?
Get real.
Our pleadings alone are 108 pages long. We've got not only RICO, but Mail crimes, civil rights crimes, insurance fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud just to name a few.
One of the defendant's named is an an associate of Alberto Gonzales and knowns Harriet Miers. You don't get phone calls from the US Attorney General's Office in Washing D.C. every day. And they couldn't believe what this one clown had done. Jezz we've even got one attorney for $139,000 on mail and insurance fraud.
Mr. Christie, whose only claim to fame before becoming the US Attorney of New Jersey is that he's never missed a meal.
Some justice.

The Deputy governor, now governor is above the law, as with the racial profiling of the NJ state police, or the brothels run by local police. All in a day's work!

Also, let's look at Todd Christie, Mr. Christoper Christie's brother. Seems that the Christie family made some big hefty donations to some judges in New Jersey. Why? Todd Christie got nailed along with others from his business on some financial crimes.
But, after the donations were made, everyone accept Todd Christie got hit with criminal charges. Now, Todd still has to face civil pleadings, but nothing criminal.
Why don't we hear about that?
You do know that Mr. Christie and his wife were one of the early crowd to raise over a hundred grand for Georgie Bush's election. They got the title of "Pioneer" for their fund raising.
That how Christoper got the US Attorney General for New Jersey's job. He's never prosecuted a case until getting the office.
Dirty politicians? In New Jersey? Yup.
Ask about Todd Christie and see what you get.

When will the average citizen under any rule of government realize serving for the public good is a sham and lie. Democrats or Republicans, it matters not, it's simply about power and corruption. Honest citizens do not run but assuredly those that will corrupt, lie and cheat will run. That's life and we must accept reality.
Do you really believe what Bill Clinton says, who attempts to act the elder statesman, its a lie. Do you believe George Bush when he says his son is a great President? It's all corrupt and insanity enjoined. All politicians are crooked, yes I said all. Why would you spend millions even though its a high paying job with perks unheard of by the average citizen, it's corruption personified and most Americans are stupid enough to believe in what they call their "Leader". If Clinton could have one thousand Monica's if the public knew not, he would. If Bush could control the entire world with lies, he would. Your leaders in action.

Zero chance. Idaho is a 2 to 1 GOP state and Craig's perversion does not reach beyond himself; NJ has been within 7% or so recently and this is just more corruption in the state Dem Party. It isn't Corzine's fault, but it will cost the Dems the state if Rudy is the nominee. Rudy is very popular in the area and is known for fighting corruption.

I need to become a government employee. Because I tell you...this deal with me having to actually 'work' for a living isn't worth a damn.

I can't understand the fuss...they're politicians.
Politicians lie, cheat and steal everything they can get their trumped up laws written to control.
One guarantee here - these guys are all Democrats, which guarantees they'll be re-elected if they're caught screwing up. It's what we expect from that party - a Republican is thrown out on his rear end.
They even thaw out the money kept in the freezer for that senator from Louisiana so he can buy some more votes and stay in office!!!
The only shame I have about the whole situation is WE ELECTED THEM. We choose who we want to rob us and chose using party preference as the ONLY guideline. The shame of these crooked officials is on our hands......we let them get away with it and don't demand change.

if they really wanted to crack down, they would put them in gen pop in a regular prison. Let one of the rich see what it is like to break the law and get caught. THings would change quickly in washington if they knew they would be in with big bubba if they got caught breakin the law!
