The real question is; do you feel that 90 out of 100 people are actually capable of safely owning a gun?

Contrast the U.S. with Russia, where less than 1% of the population is armed, yet the murder rate is 6 times higher per capita than the United States. When you outlaw guns, only criminals will be armed. I live in Chicago. It is absolutely illegal to own a gun here, yet we have 800 murders a year. The states that have enacted concealed carry laws, have seen a very significant drop in violent crime. Do your research, and quit being such politically correct, brain dead liberals.

You got it. amen to that.
Its our court systems that have a problem. No death penalties for murder crimes. thats the problem.
Guns aren't the problem, the laws are the problem.
Texas and other states that have concealed carry are doing just fine.
The Yahoos running around crying about every little thing need to go live in their own commune. We have a constitution that gives everyone else freedoms and rights.
Its a joke that we have have to lose our rights to a few A holes.

I bet the guy that had his wife and children raped and burned to death in the NE wished he had a gun handy when those sick thugs entered his house. We here not only have wepons so we can defend ourselves against the government, but also to defend ourselves while waiting the 10 or more minutes it takes for police to show up, once called.

Does anyone have an example of someone successfully using guns to defend themselves from the government?
I'm pretty sure they all ended up dead.

Face it, GUNS purchased FREEDOM fro America from the then sick King of England.
The United States would CEASE to exist without gun ownership, as to many States would leave the Union.
No guns are area high in murder and crime, only need to look no further than England to see what 'muck' the Labor party left when in power from 1997. Murder and Violent crimes went up 800 per cent under Blair.
But we understand Holland has more guns per ratio of population than America. The we could mention the Swiss.

Have you read the article? Here is a quote from it:
"On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38."
Yes, it says: behind the US.

unfortunately statistics are misleading.
case in point: I have 5 firearms (true) a friend I go shooting with has 4. That means that for the two of us there are 8 who are unarmed and probably don't care for guns.
I know a bunch of (lucky) guys at the range who have many many more
The good news of course is that those of us who are armed are still some deterrent against criminals and tyrrany. But I am trying to convert my gun-less friends to our side as quickly as possible.

How much WORSE would it be if only the criminals had the guns? And, a lot of that sentiment depends on having those guns close to hand when the crime occurs. If there were no restrictions on concealed carry, I can just about guarantee you the crime rate would drop. Along with a few criminals.
I personally think it would work out better if EVERY household were armed, and all the criminals KNEW it.

I don't get it.. If guns are so prevalent.. Why is our society such a violent one with more gun deaths per capita than all other developed countries. I thought guns would make us safer.

I didn't read the article. Is the other 600 million guns that are out there in the world registered or are they the ones we give away to the third world?

Yep, Just got my 9mm glock with the permit to carry it... along with my seven other guns this makes the government sweat when it thinks about disarming the public for their own good...something already in the works with the "new world order" that is slithering in.... and some are registered and most are not.... even the one with the silencer....

I guess the only thing left to say is when the Feds launch a rocket into your house, let us know how the silencer worked out.

Where are all the people who support the right to carry Guns and who talk about how important it is to uphold the law? Here's someone promoting guns who admits to breaking the law with an illegal silencer. Why aren't all the gun nuts going after him for being a criminal with guns?
Hmm.

The 2nd ammendment is what keeps the govt. from taking away the rest of our rights. Watch "Innocents Betrayed" and see who we should fear the most, it's not armed citizens it's the govt's of the world and criminals that are the murderers.

This reminds me of my favorite line out "Lord of War" from Nic Cage:
"There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do you arm the other eleven?"

Would I be off base to think that the gun owners are the tyrants? What is tyranny?
Do you think that a handful of guns or assult weapons could deter the gov. Waco? Ruby ridge? They had much more than that, they're dead now.
Texas is a mess. Heavily armed and executing people like they're in a competition, and the place is still dangerous, even taking into account Katrina statistic boosts, the place is a craphole.
Why is the slogan "guns don't kill people, people kill people" not reversed into, " Guns don't keep people safe, people(who aren't crazy insecure delusional freaks) keep people safe".
Whats funny is, I like guns...I don't like most gun owners though.

Waco at least was the result of religious nutjobs. Nutjobs should NEVER be allowed to have a firearm. I don't care if they want to off THEMSELVES, but for some reason they always seem to think someone else should go first. And even though they were religious nutjobs, the government didn't exactly play THAT one right either. There were quite a few fatalities on the FBI side of the scorecard. And - BECAUSE they were isolated nutjobs, not many other citizens were willing to come to their aid. If you saw your neighbor surrounded by ATF and FBI and was sure they weren't involved in anything nefarious, what would YOU do? It's something we should ALL at least think about, just in case.

the "Nine guns for every ten people" is an exceedingly misleading statistic. I own nine guns. That means there's nine people that don't. So, it's actually one owner, nine non-owners. Looks to me like the stat was twisted into suiting whatever the agenda the author is presenting.

Amen to America... "let's fly the flag of come and take it."
Registration has led to confiscation in supposed free countries like Australia and Great Britain. And with Home Invasions and other heinous crimes on the rise, it isn't hard to see how the thugs have again been handed an angle while Mr/Mrs. Law Abider have again been hung out to die.
In America, with a certain group of scaggs and political pushers trying to do the same...No thanks pecker heads.
They all love the poor unfairly treated criminal element and hey felons should be allowed to vote, deviant behaviors should be mainstream politics...yada yada.
My word to them..."you can come bleed on my land anytime you feel strong."

I don't care who has guns, but keep them away from the first time criminals including those people who get fired from their jobs and go off half-cocked, or those whose marriages are failing with one or the other wanting a divorce resulting in one or the other also going off half-cocked, or those who hear voices in their heads and also go off half-cocked or those who say God told them to do it. According to most psychologists, most people are mentally unstable and could snap at a moments notice for any reason whatsoever.

I am sure that these psychologists include themselves in that group, and they have also said that most everybody should be taking Prozac as a result. Apparently, according to them, most people are extremely depressed and are apt to snap at a moments notice. How many people would snap if they either lose their job or found their spouse sleeping with someone else or their spouse simply wanted a divorce and want alimony and child support? There are many domestic murder-suicides every year, and killings at workplaces just because someone snapped and wasn't a criminal before. Anybody taking anti-depressants or other drugs which affect one's mental state of mind is definitely unstable to say the least.

We are going to protect ourselves from people with rocket launchers (those who believe we need guns to protect from invaders), and we need to have 20 guns to protect us from thugs (why not just have a properly trained police force).
We spend so much time defending ourselves that we never allow ourselves any peaceful coexistence.

Im just laughing at all of you talking about your arsenals of mass porportions. We are going to defend against the goverment when it goes antichristral/communist on our buttocks. When NWO comes for you, alot of good your 12-20 guns and riffles are going to be when they bust into your house using swat tactics while you are asleep wondering if you are dreaming. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the right to arms and protection. The simple fact of the matter is when some one pulls out a gun, the common person's load that they just released in their pants is more of a threat than whether or not they are armed or not. A weapon is a tool, owning one doesnt make you prepared.

Why is the liberal media so worried about private ownership of guns. There has been over 50 million unborn children murdered in this country since 1973 from "legal" abortion not guns and the media is a big advocate of abortion.
Watch "Innocents Betrayed" from JPFO.org and see what happens to unarmed citizens.

The poll says one thing to me, we have enough armed citizens to keep other nations from their perverted ideals against America. Now let leave other nations alone, stop interjecting ourselves into their national agendas and stop being the enforcer for the world. Who the hell are we to be "Father knows best"?
Our reputation is deserving, lets meddle some more our leaders say, I say B.S.
