Next Generation Liquid Fuels »
Posted By universal12 1 year, 1 month ago in Newscellulosic ethanol and biodiesel or renewable diesel from algae. But those fuels will increasingly be sharing the roads with the long term transportation fuel of the future: electricity from renewable sources, especially wind.

Like my friend Commodore1 said "I'm not sure what it will be but I'm sure it will eventually come to flying. Whatever makes us fly best in our air vehicles."

Good article and advice . I'm figguring gas to be at $10 gallon in the next 20 years . Maybe only 12 . Everything is exponential these days .

The next generation car (but NOT for the USA, people of the USA will NEVER in a million years go for a AIR powered car) is not a liquid powered car but COMPRESSED AIR powered car that is French made and is available now at ........
http://www.theaircar.com/ runs on SCUBA Tanks I guess!!!
The companies sells the Air Powered MTI motor car in Mexico City as a form of a non-polluting taxi cab.

Cool yes...usefull no. How much polution do you need to make a compressor run? Im a con saying this but I want a cleaner earth and still keep a sensible life. We need something and thats what im against Compressed Air is that we burn coal or GASES to make CA. I dont know if the enery spent would be worth the energy used. I have researched it but I thought I heard it on the "FUTURE CARS" on Discovery Channel. If they are right..what is the reason for it. Its kinda like ethonal. The emmission on cars..thats great, But what about the energy to make it. How many nuclear plants and coal plant would we have to have?

Yes, thanks for the link. That is quite amazing. I don't know how well that would go over with everyone but certainly some great technology.
Maybe there will even be multiple energy in the future, anyone ever think of that? Maybe some will prefer this type of air car and others may prefer a biodiesel car or etc...

I remember my uncles using the moonshine that they 'produced' to run their cars if gas was not available. It worked. The Feds didn't even like that idea. Not only was the 'shine not taxable as a liquor but the fuel was basically home produced and therefore not taxable also.

These guys think the future is in principle of time variant magneto-mechanical interactions:
Now I have no idea if this "Orbo" technology will work, but it won't take up cropland or drive up the price of corn.

Nice link...but after I went through it all...I see what you said "Now I have no idea if this "Orbo" technology will work"
I would like to find out but if there is a website that doesnt really tell you anything...shouldnt you be questionable if it even a real company?

Sure would nice if the movie Back to the Future's fuel could not be made a reality! Garbage as fuel it would be a real recycle reuse thing! LOL

Here's some out of the box thoughts. The biggest user of oil is not in the production of gasoline and drivers, it's the chemical and medical industry. Raising the price of gas is to supplement the bigger users and keep oil prices down for them. We have forgotten about the rest of the crude oil products after the gasoline has been extracted for use by vehicles. Gasoline is only a fraction of the products that are made from the black gold. Where are all these other major oil users and their complaints? They can't complain because we are supplementing and making costs for the major users very cheap while we get stuck with higher gas prices on a daily basis. I don't have the figures at hand but we all know that only a handful of gas is produced from each barrel of oil, so where has the rest of the barrel of oil gone to? Are these other users facing the same cost increase as vehicle drivers? I think not, it's all passed on to the production of gasoline and consumers.

Mr. Bush must be running scared as he should be. He doesn't want to listen to the American people and his intersts only lie is his self interests. As well as corporate america who is in charge of the government now. When did the president get the power to run the government in as a Monarchy? He does not have the right to overturn the department of justice and our court system to free convicted criminals. This act is a clear and blatant attack on the american people and their freedom of speech. Departments of law enforcement should be telling these federal agents to go suck on a egg and get out of their faces. Bush has forgotten he works for the american people and our constitution and treason is punishable, not matter what position you have. We are tired of him selling out our country and taking away our rights. Bush is a disgrace to the country and the position he holds and where is the man/men on the knoll when you need him/them?

Darnit...I almost went through a page and someone was blaming BUSH. What type of car do you drive? I drive a jeep wrangler. I spend money on gas. I work in a millroom. I get paid for it. I can afford it. I use my jeep for both off and on-road. I pay for a mostly American made vehicle that is own outside of our country.
"Next Generation Liquid Fuels"
What part of this story do you decide too blame BUSH. I know that if I did this within any story that you would blame me if Clinton or any other dem was in office so give your crap a break. Im sorry for being so neg but WHY cant we talk about the subject for once instead of blaming ppl. I will do the same thing to you if we have a dem in office, to some con that thinks he know everything

In Brazil they sell alcohol at the pump. My old class mate and room mate was the one under whose tutelage they developed the latest generation of multifuel engine in Sao Paulo. A thesis was written in the University of Sao Paulo. These engines are used in GM's Celta. It is a one liter engine. It uses 12.5 compression ratio! Something previously unheard of. I think there is scope for this fuel to be used in north America. Farmers producing sugar cane or other vegetable material can make money from it thus reducing the burden on government to susbisdize farms. Texas. Georgia and Louisana can be the states where they could run completely on alcohol. They have ramped up production of alcohol here in Ontario (Canada), and even increased the ratio of alcohol in the gasoline sold at the pump.
We got to use solar technology by developing it further. Even in India this should be a big hit. There the solar energy is so readily available.
Its about time we diversified sources of energy.

I like seeing more articles that state that ethanol is not the answer - it is just an undeniable fact that it takes almost as much fossil fuel to produce a gallon of ethanol as it supposedly offsets. Take a look at the January 2007 Scientific American magazine - there is an excellent article with illustrations that explains the severe shortfalls of ethanol production. There is also the problem with older, and higher-end vehicles not being able to use E85 because of the damage to the fuel system and other engine components. And ethanol still produces large amounts of pollutants as it is burned.
We need to to make better use of the 250 years of coal supplies that exist in this country. Coal is being burned very efficiently and cleanly now. More information on this available from the American Coal Council.
We need to utilize the oil reserves in the ANWR region of Alaska. We need to build more refineries.
Nuclear power still provides one of the most efficient ways to produce electricity.

Thank you ProfessorT, I have read that it takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol (from corn) than a gallon of gasoline, as a consumer you get less return than a gallon of gasoline and it costs about 15% more than a gallon of gasoline. More energy to make, less return on that energy, costs more that doesn't sound like a good alternative to me. Brazil makes ethanol from sugar cane and that produces roughly the same return of energy as gasoline. We do not have the climate to grow enough sugar cane in this country to satisfy our needs. Coal is a short term answer but not the final answer. Hydrogen fuel cells are what I believe will be our answer. We should be building nuclear power plants for our electricity needs now. But no one wants live near a nuclear plant. I blame our government for this crisis. Since the oil embargo days in the early '70's we did nothing, gas was 99 cents we didn't have to. Now thirty years later we find our selfs looking down the barrel of OPEC's gun.
