I'm sorry but I'm a Latina and what they are doing now offends me.
My family are virtually all American citizens, have been, have served in the U.S. military, and yes we do have relatives still in Mexico, but they come here legally to work and go home when they are done and they pay taxes. When I visit Mexico I've always had to have my passport simply because of my skin. I speak English.
Don't blame it on Bush though. They've been coming across the border illegally for decades now if not longer.

My grand dad, came from Poland, Of xourse they did not swim here, and they came legally, through our customs office..Illegal immigrants were mostly ignored, until our politicians tried to give them our social security, which is going broke as it is..Now, if our [politicians want to pay illegals out if the senators pension fund, that wouod be great..illegal immigrants are just fodder for companys who want scab labor..Companys who will not pay a living wage..The companys buy the politicians, and keep working these peole with impunity to the law..When you sneak in here, you are "breaking, and entering --illegally..therefor you are a "felon, and hiring felons is against the law..A law which has been in effect for many years...All illegals must be deported...The cost to be paid for by the companys who used them..

Absolutely....it does not matter what we think since we are born and raised in the USA. We are to learn spanish and give away all our tax money and our culture for the illegal immigrants and love it as we are overtaken! I seen the loss of culture taken over by another right here in Texas! But I am not worried they coming to a state and a community near you real soon, so learn spanish!

No one assumes that you are racist unless you assume that all illegals are Mexican or Hispanic, and that all Mexicans and Hispanics are here illegally. If you make this assumption, then you ARE racist, because you are ignoring (and by doing so, basically giving a pass to) the large numbers of people that come into this country illegally from other countries.

Do all illegal immigrants speak Spanish? Interesting, because I didn't realize that illegal immigrants from China, Russia, Indonesia (just to name a FEW) spoke Spanish.
Culture can't be taken away from you by another culture. If you feel threatened by another culture, then you had no culture of your own to begin with. Culture begins at home, and has nothing to do with what is going on around you. Culture is what you do and how you life your life - your traditions, your values. If another group of people come in and "take away your culture," what kind of culture did you have, exactly? You stopped practicing your own traditions, stopped believing your values, stopped speaking your language? I find that hard to believe.
Broadening horizons does not constitute a loss of culture.

Dubai & all other parts of the UAE already have a large # of illegal immigrants. They also have a large # of unskilled legal immigrants who do the jobs the locals don't want to do. It's just like here.

I notice that the MAIN point of this article seems to concern LEGAL and TEMPORARY migrants. NOT illegal migrants who stay put as long as they can get away with it. I wonder, if someone in Dubai doing this temporary stint has a baby, does that baby automatically become a citizen of Dubai? I'm guessing...NOT!

The only reason we have so many illegals do that work is the companys will not pay a living wage..They use these people as scab labor..They do it with impunity, because they have bought all the politicians..Illegals are felons, they broke, and entered our country..Then when these illlegals get sick, they get free care in our hospitals..Then we have our crooked pols trying to get these illegals our social security...Arrest every CEO of any company who uses these people..Fine them thier net worth..We must never re e;ect any politician...We should not have "career" pols....

This is freakin' Dubai where everyone gets oil stock money. The US is practically a world country. We import slaves to do our work not because we are so damn wealthy, but because the wealthy don't want to pay living wages to American workers. These people come in illegally--not like Dubai that brings in educated people. We have immigrants who take our science, math positions at a cheaper rate than Americans do. In Dubai they would never go against their own people that way.

Dubai has the same problems with illegal immigration as we do here. They have many legal immigrants who work in highly skilled jobs (including technical jobs), some legal immigrants who work in unskilled jobs. As far as health care there is concerned, most governent hospitals offer low cost health care. No cost to people who can't afford it. Yes they have oil money & they use it to take care of their own population. Bush has tax dollars and if he wanted to he could channel those into our domestic problems & solve illegal immigration issues. Instead of waging wars in the Middle East.

it's America's fault that Mexico is one of the most corrupt countries in the world? So we should fix the problem by taking in all the illegal immigrants who want to come to America to earn money they can't in mexico because of the government there, oh and please feel free to protest here in America for rights that criminals don't have, even though by being illegal you are a criminal... , rather than protest in mexico for reform, please come here to america and call us racists.

I am not opposed to illegal immigrants because of their race. I am opposed because they tend to be of lower intelligence, more prone to crime, and more likely to pump out too many stupid kids. We have no shortage of unskilled labor in our country. We have a motivational problem. The solution is park a bus behind the welfare office. When people come to get their check for doing nothing you tell them go out back and then take them to the farm and say no one gets a check until the cotton gets picked. No more sitting on your ass watching Oprah and eating fried chicken.

hmmm... "skilled illegal immigants", about 400 years worth. So "we" come in, overrun the natives, divide the land and lock the gate? Human instinct for survival does get ugly or at least irrational at times.
The actual story was about the mobility we usually call the "brain drain" having gone international. A further thrill is that you pay for it at your gas pump.

Illegal immigrants do not deserve the same opportunties legal immigrants or U.S. citizens have because they're breaking the law. and last i heard, people in this country who break the law are not rewarded.
it's not fair that legal immigrants had to work hard to get into this country, and the other foreigners just come across the border as if they have all the right in the world to be there. well, they DONT HAVE ANY RIGHT AT ALL.
ok, i admit, they're human, and so are we, so maybe they feel they deserve equality, because in the end we're all the same, but they shouldn't come here illegally. they should realize that they're obviously not wanted since there are laws against them.
America is a welcoming "melting pot," where nobody is supposed to be discriminated against because of religion, gender, sexual orientation, or race.
And it's also the land of countless opportunites, but those opportunities should only be given to people who are allowed to be here.

My concern is two economies. The dynamics of our banking system and money supply used to be fairly restricted to control within the boundaries of this nation - there are holes in controls just like the border. I can't fault anyone for making a buck but our officials aren't talking about this. I heard the central bank had to step in recently to pump our economy up. The sub-wages and minimum wages on the scale of a minority group can fuel a separate economy. Some pay taxes, however the avoidance or evasion of taxes on business and yes income taxes can be significant for services rendered. We hear taxes are paid and legal applications for citizenship made, but what I don't hear is services are refused or job openings across the public are happening. The Federal Reserve is completely lost on the subject. What if inventory from another country is sold in the US and the money sent back across the border - no not necessarily a store full, small baskets at a time then what impact?

Exactly what country lets foreigners do most of the work? Are we talking about Dubai? Saudi Arabia? Certainly not America.
The foreigners come here and undercut Americans for jobs - they'll do the same job for half and the results are usually about half of what they were paid to do anyway...got real good
question though...
Everywhere you look, you see 'bi-lingual' signs with English and Spanish on all of them. I know for a fact we have immigrants from other parts of the world who don't speak English either.
