Stoners From my days in school, that an earthquake in one place means another is to happen somewhere else. That was a bad earthquake.

I spent a year Backpacking the Andes. The whole desert south of Lima was one of the greatest places I ever experienced. Pisco and Ica were 2 of the most beautiful places I visited. I'm heartbroken to think that many of the warm friendly people I met there are gone or suffering. Just awful.

An 8.0 is a bad one, alright. Kind of makes you wonder what would happen if (should probably just go ahead and say "WHEN") an 8.0 happened under Los Angeles. Bad, very bad. Next, we would start wondering WHY anyone in their right mind would build a city in a KNOWN tectonically active area. It's just about as dumb as building a city below sea level. And we've recently seen what eventually happens when you do that.
Single story, very flexible buildings - that's about the best you can do.

How sad that some people who had so little now have nothing.
I've never experienced a full blown earthquake, it must be terrifying.
Best wishes for those people, I hope they get the assistance they need.

The earthquake of Wednesday in Peru, makes me remember that after the disaster, the loss of but of 500 Peruvians, of the neglect of 80 thousand people who do not have house, the Peru will be had to recover, will be like the bird Fenix that resurges of its ashes. We are with you Peruvian people.
