Plame and her lawyers knew full well that such a suit would be dismissed. The court system was simply another way to generate publicity and perhaps boost book sales.
There is another to obtain high book sales results--simply write a good book. Unfortunately, this method is seldom used any more.

Valerie Plame's lawsuit dismissed
BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHH ROFLMAO
U.S. District Judge John D. Bates dismissed the case on jurisdictional grounds. Bates dismissed the case against all defendants: Cheney, White House political adviser Karl Rove, former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.
Everybody? BLAHHHHHHH OMG LOL
Plame's attorneys had said the lawsuit would be an uphill battle. Admitting it's hard to prove a delusional fantasy based on nothing and proven to be nothing after 3 year investigation.
BlaHhHhH

Judge Bates was appointed United States District Judge in December 2001
So, he was appointed by George H.W. Bush's son?
If you want to dismiss a case, and thus to rig
wouldn't you want a judge appointed by the defendant pig?
Judge Bates was on detail as Deputy Independent Counsel for the Whitewater investigation from 1995 to mid-1997
Omigawd, an angel in Ken Starr's heaven!
In February 2006, he was appointed by Chief Justice Roberts to serve as a judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
What a great place for jurisprudence to abort!
Once again
a slimey schuck
has allowed the Bush Crime Family
justice to duck!

It is amazing how the history is forgotten or ignored. Even the partisans of Plame and Wilson seem to have forgotten.
1.) The commuting of Libby's sentence was not the first action in the Wilson Plame matter in which Bush interfered with law and justice. He early on, shortly before any of the leaks, issued an executive order which removed the Plame identity from the secret list. Hence, the leaks would be no crime -- the criminal statutes, such as they are, against revealing the secret identities would not apply.
2.) It was not just one low level State Department guy leaking to one reporter. It wasn't just about Libby lying.
A number of different administration folk leaked to different reporters after Bush decriminalized the release of secret identities and before Novak.
Some told one reporter and, when the news wasn't broadcast, the administration folk tried again calling up a different reporter.
Novak was told only after many others had been told and kept the secret.

I see so this is how right and wrong works in the Neocon world. Wrong is relative. Valerie is to blame for her outing. She should have done nothing to your gods Cheney, Bush, Libby for revealing her identity. And the nerve of her to write a book about her experiences and try to recoup the finances she may have lost along with her career. She's the villain. Not Cheney, Bush or Libby. The guys you voted and support. Because to make them villains would make YOU one for supporting them. So you will fight to death anyone who exposes them. Because that exposes YOU. You people are some sick bastards.

This is one of the best comments on this topic so far. The current state of the country is so mentally ill I should have been a psychologist. One common theme throughout this war and the Bush administration, don't accept blame or agree they were swayed by oil, Halliburton, power, greed, insanity, and especially don't let public officials bad mouth the decisions they have made. Plame was a pawn for Chaney. If you want to see how slimy this guy is take a look at his biography on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney. I think we need more antidepressants, maybe added to the water supply. lol

Ah so, grasshopper. Now you begin to understand the way of the AmericanIdiot.
First off, apologize for helping to elect this gang of crooks.
Second, help to kick the bums out of Washington!

Well, ya can't be outed if there is nowhere to out you from....since she was no longer a "secret squirrel" operative and basically had a desk job in research, I believe...there wasn't anything to out...
You want to know who's working in the offices at Langley? Stand on the street and take pics as they drive by on their way to work....
Jeez...get a life...

no wait....ewwww, I think she's a he!
all BS asides, kinda hard to "out" someone who hung out in Washington's social circles at parties with her old man 'the ambassador'(which was a load of crap to begin with; joe wilson was never ambassador to anything except perhaps his own inflated ego)and who constantly bragged about his wife the 'cia agent'

Yeah, I guess having your career destroyed, not to mention what happened to other covert operatives as a result, is not worth filing a lawsuit. The judge through it out on jurisdictional grounds. I wonder if she can bring suit in another jurisdiction?

Plame's career was over as soon as she and her husband tried to influence US policy. Their's was a partisan decision, and they understood that they had no future in a Republican administration.
The judge "threw" the suit out--not "through." If this federal judge has no jurisdiction (authority to determine the facts and render judgement), then no federal judge will have such authority. It has nothing to do with geography, although it might have something to do with partisan politics. Judge Bates, a Bush appointee, might be less eager to deal with this garbage than a Democratic appointee who might want to embarrass the administration (if that is still possible).

Actually it was a partisan action, that signaled the end of their careers, Maybe if Joe Wilson hadn't run around telling everyone (reporters) that his wife was with the CIA.

I don't know what kind of work you do, but I think this lady is quite impressive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Plame
Before you start spreading rumors and describe her career as trivial I think you should look in the mirror and ask yourself if you could do the things she has done. She was a CIA agent and her involvement is secret. There is no way you could know what she has or has not done. One thing is certain, her life is forever changed and in some ways damaged because her husband exposed Bush as a liar when he claimed that Saddam was getting Nukes from what was it Nigeria? She had nothing to do with it. Take a look at Chaney's bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney, he did the same thing he did to her back in the Ford days. He is a slime bag and no matter what you say that won't change.
