My question is, Who can you trust in Iraq? Can we believe what anyone is telling us from inside Iraq???????

Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, who can tell the difference?

You are right. It's impossible to tell whether anybody is telling the truth in the whole Middle East. Or about the Middle East for that matter.

Yeah tehranchik, it couldn't have been any of the insurgents supported by Iran, right?

I'm thinking the Israels did it, are you with me?

But to tell you the truth, I would fight to protect your right to say it.

I appreciate that--thank you.

You're kidding, right? The "something else" is the same something that's been going on for 1400 years. Why would any non-muslim take this religion seriously when it routinely uses holy places as military targets and/or strongholds?

It is incredibly sad that such violence is going on there and all the US teaches is how to spread munitions and not peace and love. If we spent 2 billion on teaching peace and love, this would never be an issue. For a great book on peace and love that can be found at amazon dot com, LuLu dot com or ebay, search at these sites for "Korana of Mother Goddess." We need to pray for them all.

I heard the weather in Baghdad is going up to 120F this week. I really feel sorry for all the American Troops that are in that living hell there. I would think this will only make it hotter for everyone. Support our troops: Get them the hell out of that place now!! Impeach Bush!!!

Thanks for the weather report. BTW, someone just got bombed. I think u missed that part of this story

avatar

no Danm I think the story is about a MOSQUE that got bombed and the hell that it will put OUR troops in. Impeach Bush!!!

avatar

Go ahead. Impeach Bush. That way we can draw in every single Democrat, under sworn testimony, who voted for this war that had the exact same intelligence about Iraq with the same conclusions about Saddam as Bush. Let's find out who is lying here.

Might as well call in Former President Clinton, Al Gore, all of the people who suggested it was the right thing to do from the very beginning and then changed their minds because of poll results.

PLEEEEASE impeach. You'll take the whole damn bunch down, along with your so called Democrat "leaders".

Leaders that have sold out the loony far left time and time again after they get your votes.

avatar
Reply

not sure you can impeach Bill and Al since they aren't in any government office.

avatar
Reply

No, but they would definitely lose their reputations. And under impeachment processes anyone can be called to testify.

Why do you think they haven't motioned for impeachment?

The reason is because they are as just as liable as Bush.

And there are literally no lawful grounds for impeachment, just alot of accusations and finger pointing.

There is currently at least one: The authority for our troops being in Iraq EXPIRED when Saddam's government was toppled. GWB is currently conducting combat operations without the formal consent of Congress. It could also be argued that since we are not, technically, at war with anyone that suspending Habeas Corpus is unconstitutional. Certain "Presidential Orders" could also be considered contrary to his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Then you might as well throw out all of Congress who supported reconstruction and occupation efforts AFTER Saddam was toppled and have been providing the money for it since then. Democrat and Republican alike.

As far as habeas corpus, I assume you mean US born detainees at Gitmo. When the President declared suspending habeaus corpus for these detainees there was NO standard law declaring it illegal. Now there could possibly be and I would assume Bush will follow the law on what the Supreme Court decides.

So, no law against it before = no grounds for impeachment.

If he does it after it becomes a law, then you may have basis for your argument, but as of now you don't.

Hey, when you can find a link between the president and that hospital visit, then you go ahead and impeach all you want. Until then you are just doing what everyone else is doing, guessing. The Senate Judiciary Committee hasn't found anything as to date.

"Secret Prisons"

Might as well throw out the Senate and House Committee's on Intelligence and the Armed Services Committee's. Which by the way, include both top Democrats and Republicans. If you bring Bush down, you bring them all down.

And I'm sorry, stupidity isn't a impeachable offense.

Sounds good to me. Throw out everyone who was complicit in that abomination.

There is nothing wrong with secret prisons, in their own right.

Torture is not what I am talking about, it is immoral, and from a tactical standpoint, just stupid.

avatar
Reply

Then why do you need secret prisons? Why won't the ordinary ones do?

At the risk of stating the obvious, so that people the you don't want to know where they are, don't.

So people can disappear without a trace and nobody can check whether their rights are violated?

This is an answer to "So people can disappear without a trace and nobody can check whether their rights are violated?"

There is oversight of the prisons by the house and senate intelligence committees. Those committees have oversight authority (and responsibility).

I suppose you have problems with those, from your comments. You can get as paranoid as you want, to the point where you believe that unless _you_personally_ know the complete history and outcome of every little thing that is ever done, it can't be trusted.

But how do you trust the people who are telling you the history and outcome? So now you have to be everywhere, all the time to check everything.

But I don't trust you, so I need to be watching you.

Pretty soon, you are "Back, in the USSR".

sky king, I want you to think a minute and let me know if you can remember when Ashcroft thinking it was against the law (or not) was something that liberals lent any credence to.

I'm not banging on you in particular.

And while liberals in particular are the point of that comment, it cuts against the conservatives to. "Well Clinton bombed Serbia".

It is right or it is wrong on it's own merits.

"And I think being as stupid as bush is SHOULD be an impeachable offense."

THAT was funny, and I don't believe the "stupid" comments about him.

Take it to them Boston! I'm a Yankees fan, but way to handle these fallaciuos arguments. Here you go.

I'm a middle of the road person. Neither Democrat or Republican. I just try to use common sense and Reagan used a good form of that in his statement.

I'm not sure it would be a BAD idea to throw out all of Congress. Most of it, for sure.

I'm pretty sure the 5th amendment covers the part about being held without due process. Also the 6th. And the 14th. So, yeah, there IS a law. The supreme law of the land. Just because GWB may not want to acknowledge that, doesn't mean the rest of us don't. And, here's a quote right from our Constitution (Article 1, Section 8): The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.

There is currently NO rebellion nor Invasion. This is VERY clear.

avatar
Reply

Come on, Joe, use some imagination.

We invaded Iraq, that's an invasion, so isn't that a good enough reason?

---

Detaining Americans, anywhere in the world, or anyone on US soil (again, short of an invasion) without habeas corpus is unconstitutional.

Damn good argument!

Clinton looked at essentially the same information the neo-cons had and chose NOT to invade. Go the the PNAC website and read the letter from Cheney to Clinton begging us to take action (in '98!).

http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonle...

(Cheney has electronically removed his name from this document since it was posted. That says enough!)

Clinton should be faulted for putting Chalabi and the INC on the payroll the rest of this sh-t is the neo-cons responsibility alone. Believing in Curveball. Stating that a piece of aluminum found buried in a backyard constitutes a nuclear program. A f-cking joke. But their intentions were not to be denied.

It all comes down to the fact that the people who are truly responsible for our invading Iraq (the PNAC neo-cons and their supporters) take NO RESPONSIBILITY for their actions. They likely never will. Will blind followers like yourself they will never have to.

Oh here it comes RedSoxGirl! You backed them into a corner, now the personal attacks come on strong. Such a weak tactic of a liberal. It shows no basis for argument and proves how wrong they actually are!

Hey V.O.R. weren't you the one defending jihad and praising the death of Americans on the Gaza postings? You and gaumahuache?

Yep, I believe you are. The enemy is among us here on Nutscape for sure!!!!!!!

Perhaps you mean "the" actually "is".

But then probably not.

Don't get too over-excited or you'll blow out your pacemaker.

How dare you accuse me of praising the deaths of my fellow Americans? Are you clinically insane? Good thing this is a message board because if you said that to my face I wouldbe in jail for assault. And I would have made sure every penny of the bail was worth it.

YOU STEPPED WAY OVER THE LINE!!!

I give you facts and evidence and you call that a PERSONAL ATTACK? That you are blind followers? The facts support that entirely.

You are a miserable piece of human garbage. Call me the enemy. You must have been skimmed off the top of the pond because you certainly didn't enter this world through a birth canal.
