As posted by andeaver, you really should perform a little research before you post stuff. After searching the web I could find no more information to back this story up. It is posted all over though, in true urban legend form.
Why post unsubstantiated stories? There are stories that can be validated and so are far more interesting because they're true! Anyone can make up interesting stories, fiction authors do it all the time!
Now, your task is to find a newspaper report that substantiates this story with time and place. Now get it done.

What I'd like to know is why another couple was arrested for leaving their ten year old home while they went out for the evening, and this guy leaves an 11 year old home alone with a gun and no one has arrested him yet. And now his daughter gets to remember the day she brutally murdered two men the rest of her life while her father was out dicking around. He'll probably make her clean the brains and pieces of eyeball off the walls now. "You killed it, you clean it."
I'd like to mention that I don't think either kid is too young to be left home by themselves, some kids aren't old enough when they're 16, others are fine when they're 8. Realistic parents know whether their kid is responsible enough or not.

They were CRIMINALS who broke into someone's house with the intent to rob and kill anyone who got in the way. They were the murderers, all she was doing was defending herself and her family's property.
Being illegal sickos they would also have probably raped the girl. Would you prefer this scenario over someone killing in self defense???

I also think that she could have called the police. She also could have shot to disarm them instead of killing both of them. The guy who made it outside bled out from a buckshot wound. That must have taken some time. Human beings regardless of thier legal alien status do deserve compassion. If someone is bleeding to death outside your home, wouldn't you at least call the police or an ambulance?

This is an "urban legend" and there doesn't seem to be any evidence to back up it up.
Raphael Resendez-Ramirez is the infamous "Railroad Killer" illegal alien / serial murderer. He eventually was captured.
Enrique Garza is a musician from Snyder, Texas whose 3 sons formed the band "Los Lonely Boys".
Patricia Harrington is an adult woman who writes children's mystery books.
I can find no reference to David Burien.
The story has no author or news source listed. There is no date, time or address of where the incident took place. I would wager that this is an invented account. There's absolutely nothing on the web (aside from this verbatim account itself) to indicate this ever actually happened, or that anyone named Patricia Harrington ever was a champion clay-shooter anywhere. No news station, web site or paper has published this story.

She is a heroine, get a clue and stop trying to put blame on her parents. When i was 11 i babysat all night and was alone with a baby while my sister in law worked nights. You are super stupid!

oh bugger, I wanted to post this story!
All I have to say is: this is how ALL home invasions should end. Criminals have no rights when they are on the prowl to hurt us, the victims do have the right to defend their home and themselves.
Kudos to the little girl for handling this situation in textbook fashion. Two shots, two kills, I'm pretty sure that LAPD cops could never be this cool and collected (and I'm not being sarcastic)

See what good firearms education does, the 11 year was able to conduct herself in a high tense situation. End result is that she saved her life.. And dittos to her Father and anyone else that taught her how to use firearms..Every kid and adult should be proficeint in the use of firearms......

This little girl is a hero in my opinion. I just regret that she may have unpleasant memories of this event for years to come. But had it not been for her shooting skills, she might not be around to have any memories at all.

You might as well delete this story from your files. It's a complete fabrication, an urban myth.
Nothing like this has happened here in Butte, or anywhere else in Montana.

If this story is true, then it's the best damn news I've heard in a long time! If it's not true, then it's a damn shame! But below IS a TRUE story!
I bought a bird feeder, hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week I had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.
But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table, everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I fed them out of my own pocket. And other birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night demanding I fill it when it got low on food.
After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the feeder and in 3 days the birds were gone. Continued below:

I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be, quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
Now, our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for their free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.
Maybe it's time for the government to take down it's feeder.

I can't take your bird feeder story seriously. We have bird feeders all over our yard and the birds exhibit no such behavior, and I've been around wild birds my entire life under such conditions. Unless of course you are running a pigeon coop. It's your little parable to illustrate your point about welfare.
There are many real world stories that illustrate the problems due to overpopulation and uncontrolled immigration that you don't need analogies, metaphors, and parables.

why must one be an NRA lobbyist to want to believe that self-determination and cool-headedness could have saved an innocent civilian from a horrible death at the hands of dangerous criminals.
I guess we should depend on cops to protect us, you know cops who are late to teh crime scene and whose yearly shooting re-qual usually involves putting ten rounds downrange with no pass-fail score for accuracy.

There is a such a term as SELF DEFENSE.
think about it- two older age guys in their 20's break into a house where an 11 year old girl is home alone. besides killing her, they could have done very awful things. self defense people.
besides these guys had already broken into a house somewhere and killed a senior citizen. patricia is a hero.
