Authorities are trying to determine if the cocaine was found inside the day-care center, picked up outside, brought from home or found on another child.

This is very scary-I know some people have to rely on Day Cares but they are way to many stories out there from neglect in them. They((NOT ALL)) just turn your kids loose and let them do what ever all day long. They barely watch them at all-what if this child ate it all? what would of happened then? would it of killed the child? Who knows but I wouldnt want to take that chance...

Wow! How would you like to bring your little one home after a day at pre-care and find a bag of white powder on her? Amazing! Very lucky she didn't ingest any.

Knowing my kids, they would think it was sugar or something, not to mention the other kids trying to dip their hands in the bag. *shudders*

If I had my child in that day care, I could only hope that it can from home and not the provider.

This is the third case of it's kind I've seen on Netscape recently.
It happens more often than you think.
Children are smarter than the drug addicts parents think they are. Even 3, 4 and 5 year olds know the hiding places!

Im interested in knowing how long the child had the bag of cocaine before she handed it over. Anyone who has young kids knows that they will find a way into any and everything so im surprised she didnt try to open it. Or maybe thats why she gave it to the teacher. This is definitely scary.

Whoa just a minute! What's a 2 year-old doing at a daycare?
She should be with her mother AT HOME! If her mother needs to drop her off for someone to watch after, 'mommy' probably should not have had the baby!
I was raised in a 2-parent home, and MOM stayed home. Dad made enough money to support a family of 4, and that's the way it should be (for the sake of children) today.
As for the drugs, SICK people take drugs. Recreational drug users are SICK, and should all be exported to Argentina.

Hold your horses, maybe Mommy had to work because she's single (sorry didn't read the article), or that they (both parents) don't make enough money to survive on one paycheck. The day care she received could be subsidized so it makes it worth while for Mom to work (maybe she earns more than Dad???) depending on her "work".
Don't knock parents who put their kids in day care, I too was raised with a Mom at home, but unfortunatley, due to cost of living nowadays, it takes two paychecks to make ends meet, with all the needs of Mom, Dad & the kids each needing 'things'. If I could find a 'decent man', I too would stay at home and raise my boy (now 12) but doubt that'll happen, so for now, I'm the paycheck coming home.

so you think everyone should live just like you do? you think you are superior because you were lucky enough to have your mom home?
well, we don't all share your advantages. my father was often ill and as a result couldn't hold jobs for long. my mother often had to work two jobs to support the family.
the fact is most children do very well in childcare. and while it is nice when families can afford to have a parent at home, it is often not economically possible.
as for drugs...you call them sick and they are. just another argument for improving mental healthcare in this country.

Ah yes, those times when a parent could afford to stay home. The times have changed...the dad better have a damn good job to support a family. Keep up!

I hope you know that, while legal, alcohol and cigarettes are considered DRUGS.
Got your bags packed yet?
I wonder what the statistic is of alcohol (or nicotine)related deaths as opposed to marijuana (as an example)related deaths? I would say at LEAST a 20:1 ratio. But I'm sure its hard to see from waaaaaaay up on that pedestal of yours.
The fact that a 2 year old kid had a bag of coke is just sad, though...

So sad, our children are exposed to too much at an earlier and earlier age.:`~(

Perhaps someone thought (or knew) s/he was being followed/ observed and 'dropped' the packet into bushes near the daycare? Maybe it was stolen by 'mistake' and tossed just to get rid of the evidence.
Since the child is probably (at 2yo) largely pre-verbal, it is almost certain that we'll never know for sure where the stuff came from.
Luckily, the child apparently was unaffected by it.

It's aweful to hear stories like this!!! Such a young child having such a dangerous drug in their hands!! Thank God that she handed it over to the day care provider before anyone put their hands in it!! This is why we are trying very very hard not to put our daughter in day care.. It's not only the day cares that scare me, it's the other children and what they are exposed to that frightens me also!! I don't blame the day care here.. they were very responsible in the handling.. but it would definately make me wonder about sending my child back to that particular day care.. only because of this incident...

both pareents don't have to work, we don't, the problem is we think we have to have more these days like internet and cell phones and two cars and so on. and so what if the child had ingested it, where are the libs on this, would it not just be a late term abortion. why are we so amazed that things are screwed up, we live in the new live and let live america, anything you believe is ok should be thrust into the lime light and called ok, right? blame who ever you want but the problems started when the dims where in the driver's seat and they allowed the radicals to force them into our lives and tell us that our morals were wrong and there were no absolutes. so lets make them teach the yungins that we are all just accidents here on this earth because evolution made you what you are not some God who says there is right and wrong, and while we are at it let's do away with right and wrong.

Everyday i read horrable things about a little child. And it does not get any easier as my kids get bigger. It pains me to see any child in a bad situation.
