"He didn't say a single word the whole time," said Perkins. "He didn't say get down, he didn't say anything. He just came in and started shooting." Perkins and his classmates instinctively fell to the ground, turning over desks to create barriers between themselves and the shooter, who seemed to be firing randomly.

ONE is too much in this GREAT NATION! If only other countries would model after the United States they wouldn't be in such desperate times. Americans work hard and strive to succeed, thus, the rich nation. Maybe spoiled in some ways but most Americans don't blame others for their woes or look for free handouts. Americans don't expect others to fix their country -- they are willing to get down and dirty themselves!

Ive got this sinking feeling that won't go away.
It's easy to say things about culture of violence, and how 33 people aren't alot or what have you.
People make the decision to smoke. No one says Im going to go to class today so I can get shot.
You can whine about how 33 people isn't very much in the grand scheme of things. That's because you obviously aren't attached to any of those 33 people.
It's good to know you'll sleep well tonight, some of us won't. I hope nothing like this ever happens to you.

This today is more severe because its product of only 1 that was not terrorist in the traditional sense. It is probably the largest single day loss of life to a non organized terrorism attack in the history of higher education worldwide. What kind of monstrocity of cynicism can lead on to this? Whoever betrayed the killer could never materialiaze in the faces of countless strangers each with a dream , a struggle , a life of promise and families. This crime strikes at the heart of society because it represents a massive betrayal of humanity. A university is the ultimate hope and defender of any injustice ever performed , the organized promise of a system that doesnt have it right yet but will one day precisely because once decided to invest so much in the organized, dogma free education of its youth. And all is left for all us the rest is to investigate in what ways on our daily conduct we (including his homeland) father the monster in the name of cynicism and self interest.

Auzie,
It doesn't matter if one life was lost or a hundred, it was still one to many. What is the world coming to when a young man feels that to prove his point or to get over his hurt feelings that he has to shot somebody? I understand that there is rampant violence in other places of the world where people are killed on a daily basis. But it brings me back to my question, those that are doing the killing are trying to prove a point (or their belief) to someone. However what sense is there when you kill the very person to whom you're trying to prove your point or belief to? The bottom line is, it's senseless violence.

what an idiotic comment...i don't care if it was one or 40 people who died. It is a huge tragedy! You sound like you are probably one of those people who could do this yourself.
So, do society a favor and flush your head down the toilet.
Oh yeah, Have a nice day, dumbass.

If it was someone in your family that was viciously and brutally murdered for no reason, I'm sure you wouldn't make such a hideous comment!!!

Sheeple is an insult to those kids.On top of it,you simply do not know how it happenend. From the reports, some tried to block a door, and he fired through it-I suppose that once you had some bodies down and blood all over, panic may have set in.But they sure do not deserve that disparaging and stupid comment.

"Sheeple victims", not one student wanted to die, the gunman barricaded the doors and didn't say a word, it was more like a surprise attack.

wow! let's not be cold..but let's be damn clear. this is not a gun control issue, not a domestic issue. this is a reflection of our lax immigration/student visa laws. any jerk off with mental problems, radical religious beliefs, whatever, can come here at anytime. we'll be seeing more of this type of activity until we get a handle on our borders.
simply put! it's time for a moratorium on immigration whether legal or not.
remember, Atta (leader of 9-11) studied aeronautics right here in our country only to attack it later by with a weapon called a jet (thanks to a student visa.) is anyone out there with their eyes open???
