    This is the work of Al Queda Believers of The Religion of Peace. They know that the more that they kill, the faster the Congressional Retreat and Surrender Caucus will want to flee the country.
    I would think that it would give one pause knowing that AQ is manipulating one's actions in a way that supports fundamentalist Global Islamic Jihad.

      I think there is an easy way to counter this. I urge all chickenhawks who support the war to go down and immediately enlist in the army. It is my contention that 1 or 2 million hawks enlisting all at the same time will show the terrorists that you truly support the war and the troops and this will deal a mortal blow to their their morale. Remember, anyone chicken can talk the talk, time to support the war and troops and walk the walk. Show these Democrats that the people are truly behind their King...enlist now and stamp out terrorism. I will check on recruitment in a week or so and fully expect to see some major patriotism.

To this end, some convinced themselves that their determination to fight to the end would save the Japanese people (i.e. the Yamato race) and their country by forcing the Allied Forces to make concessions so as to end the war as quickly as possible to avoid further Allied casualties by kamikaze attack.
        A total of 708 noncommissioned Army officers died as kamikaze pilots, while the total death toll of Army Air Force officer class kamikaze pilots was 621. In the Navy, 1732 petty officers died as kamikaze pilots compared with 782 officers.

        In this sense there is an important similarity between suicide bombing (including kamikaze attack) and the "strategic bombing." Strategic bombing, i.e., the indiscriminate bombing of civilians, is justified as the most efficient method of destroying the morale of the enemy nation, and thus the most economical way to force surrender. In this concept too, concrete images of victims are absent in the minds of strategists and bombers. This similarity is not surprising. This is because the indiscriminate bombing of civilians conducted by military forces is nothing but state violence against civilians, that is, it is state terrorism. "Terrorist attacks" either by a group or by a state can only be executed when images of victims are abstracted and detached from the minds of attackers and strategists.

So, from what i have been able to ascertain, the difference between libs and repubs is...libs do not support the war in Iraq...repubs support the war in Iraq as long as they do not have to be involved or bothered by it.

        I'm 48 so a little old to be accepted. I do have several relatives who have served including a much younger cousin who recently finished his service in the Navy by being a SEAL doctor. Any other suggestions?

        Nope, no suggestions...it seems all the pro war people are now too old to serve. Seems strange since usually it is the older folk who are wise enough to want to avoid sending their children to war. Usually i only see older people with something to gain supporting the war.

        AQ, mostly non-Iraqi, suicide bombers are who is attacking the Shiite population in hopes of provoking as much conflict as possible between Sunni & Shia. You don't have to believe me, they claim responsibility for these attacks.
        The other objective is to demoralize the public in the West into retreat and surrender.
        Since the Surge has signifigantly reduced Shia v Sunni militia/death squad activity, AQ is doing their best to revive it. If the surge is even partly successful it will prevent AQ from achieving both objectives.
        If we leave Iraq to them, do you think that the suicide bombers will go back to their home countries or look to attack the Infidels elsewhere?

        But you said yourself that their goal was to get us out of Iraq. If we leave, they get their goal. Then they have no need to attack us elsewhere. You also said that their other goal was to cause conflict between Sunni and Shia muslims. They can do that without us there too. What is it that we are fighting for? What is our goal?

        Their immediate goal is a victory in Iraq which our withdrawal will give them. Then they will proceed with their ultimate goal of killing the Infidel anywhere until the world is united under Islam. They have stated that many times.
        Massive civil war in Iraq will further radicalize the Islamic world and the perception of weakness on our part will only encourage AQ to be more agressive in the pursuit of their ultimate goal. What we are fighting is radical Islam and our goal is not to be subjucated by it's medieval Believers into a Taliban like existance.

        9/11 got most peoples attention to what had been happening for a long time. Apparently for some it will take more 9/11 or worse attacks to understand how serious and committed our enemy, radical Islam, is. Just remember that the prime targets are blue cities in the blue parts of the country.
        What we win is a continued where women don't have to wear burkas and be uneducated baby machines and gays aren't hanged or stoned for being who they are.

        BoBo in Texas----We deposed Saddam Hussein who represented Sunni dominance. Now the Shia are trying to exert dominance. So, we try to install a government that can't control sectarian violence. Nor can our military. But, we establish a military presence who are easily indentifiable and therefore easy targets. Civil war has broken out and we're in the middle. In the meantime, it looks as if al Qaeda has penetrated into the heart of the "green zone". So, again, al Qaeda has gathered enough strength to kill many. But, we haven't pursued bin Laden. Bush never understood the sectarian equation, and we're still pouring billions into a futile effort to build a nation which can't last. So, we continue to lose lives and money in a tragic blunder. How is a "surge" going to solve a problem that 70% of the American people realize can't be solved militarily?

        AQ is stoking the civil war between Shia and Sunni. The Sunni tribes in Al Anbar are beginning to realize that if AQ continues, it will bring the full weight of the Shia down on them. The surge is intended to reduce the level of violence so that a political solution can be achieved.
        AQ is going to continue to attack us. I prefer Iraq to somewher closer to home.
        Bring up Osama is a strawman. Do you really think that AQ will fold is he is caputured or killed? He's so deep in hiding that he hasn't appeared, even on video, for about 3 years. Hardly an operational threat. etting him would/will be very nice but it won't stop AQ.

        So frigging what? We are sitting ducks, we've not been able to control the escalating violence, and we need to let those people go about their business. The civil war has begun and we didn't and can't stop it. The "surge" has contributed to the escalation of violence. My point about bin Laden is only this. If Bush said we would avenge 9/11, why did we bomb the hell out of Iraq? If al Qaeda is going to continue to attack us, then why did we go to Iraq when Bush said there was no correlation between 9/11 and Iraq? We can't even identify the enemy and our military presence only breeds more enemies.

        BoBo in Texas----You and your president have an image problem. Here's the plan. We pull out, say we won, protect our borders and commit to better intelligence. That gets our soldiers home safe and sound except for the thousands who have been maimed and who have suffered psychological disorders. BUT, we say we won! That should help you and the Bushbots with your macho, Neanderthal ego disorder. If I have a running back who is quick and weighs 150 pounds, I'm not going to continuously run him into large opposing lineman. I'll devise a better strategy.         If Al Qaeda, who wasn't in Iraq pre-2003, moved to Iraq to fight us, why can't they move elsewhere and set up a plot to attack the US mainland?
        Why exactly do they have to fight us 'there'? They have to fight us in a specific place cause we say so? Maybe they just aren't smart enough to figure out they can try and attack us 'here' again?

        Religious beliefs gone awry is what stokes the civil war. WE nor anyone else can change their belief system. If we were not in Iraq they could not attack us there. Iraq is not ours to protect. They did not stop attacking us here BECAUSE we have people over there. They wanted to rile up some people. If they really wanted to get us to live like them, there would still be attacks happening here today.

        Encourage every person you know who voted for Bush to enlist. After all, those on the right keep reminding us (mostly via cheerleading) how crucial it is that we support the troops, fight them over there before we have to fight them over here, blah blah blah. Help our military by assisting in the recruitment effort. Also, you could remind the GOP leaders in Congress that giving themselves and their rich supporters tax cuts while they send other people's children to die doesn't exactly meet the definition of "shared sacrifice."

And why fight the libs here, you and I both know why the radical Muslims hate us, what they see in the press as our morals do not suit them, and you know when they come, who they'll be going after first, it will be the ones they see as having quetionable morals, and that they see as weak, that wanted to run. And as it's happening, you can tell the libs, "told you so" and be 100% right, so why argue with them here and now, once the US pulls a cut and run, we'll all have to deal with the consequences, but at least we'll get to watch for a while since they'll be going for the libs first.

        I enlisted at a time that I could be drafted and put in eight years. One son is on disability retirement from the Army. A daughter served in the MP's for twelve years and only got out after she married an officer and became pregnant. Currently, four of my grandchildren are serving in various branches and my eldest greatgrandchild will be enlisting next year. I encouraged all my progeny to serve in the military, not all did so, but I am extremely proud of them all.
        There has been someone from my family serving in the military in every conflict since the French and Indian war.

        Skeptik, we appreciate everything you and your family have done for us. That still doesn't justify a war based on lies. You have to admit this is not something that you can compare past wars to. We were lied to and our innocent children are dying for a fight that we can not win because this admin does not want us to win there is profit in chaos.         thanks for your service, and your families service. I did what you had done, volunteered when there was a draft, my father was in the Navy, kids serving now. Now, I saw soneone talking about how it's always someone to old to go that supports war, but you know what I've seen, it's always someone that dosen't have the guts to stand up and fight for their own freedom that makes that kind of comment, and may say thank you to someone that served, but still attack what the person was doing, when they expect others to protect their freedom to make such comments, that they don't have the guts to defend themselves.

        I suppose all of the lefties think that these bombs that are killing thousands of innocent people, are being set off in search or peace and freedom for everyone.
        Of course the same ones that are dying from these bombings are being counted as war victims from the war in the middle east, and are being tallied up as victims of American murderers.
        It seems to me that there are several levels of evil at work in the world. Those setting off the bombs, the Clerics who brainwash the victims into doing it, and the people who think that we should turn our backs and walk away from it.

        The world has been awakened to the barbarism, and the mistreatment of people, and many people now have a chance at having a life that will be meaningful, not only to their leaders, but to themselves. The Muslim world may one day look on us as a friend, not as someone who is hellbent on destroying their religion, and as someone who will aid them in educating their people for the good of the world.
        Plain and simple, we have given hope to many people in the world, who once had none.
        Like the handful of people left over form the marshes that once made their life there, before S.H. dammed and drained millions of acres so that the whole race of people would be wiped out. The desert we raced across in the invasion used to be wetlands, but it was turned to dessert as a means to murder innocent men women and children.

        Right, and it's time that the U.S. stopped the barbaric actions and the mistreatment of people. Look, you've got a whole crazy spin to all this. WE invaded Iraq, deposed a despot, and undid the Sunni domination of the Iraqi people. Now, we've emboldened the Shia, spent billions upon billions of dollars, lost over 3000 young lives, maimed physically and psychologically countless other 1000's of our own, killed 1000's of civilians, and because Bush didn't understand the sectarian subtleties, we've allowed this travesty to spiral downward into a civil war. NONE of the Iraqis want us there. That is what we've accomplished. Why? Because the CIC said to "stay the course".

        The condition in Iraq has certainly "enlightened" many people in the world about the conditions of life in the Middle East, has it not? When this all began, all the world knew was that there are terrorist groups that systematically attack anything American, or Jewish, or not within their Ideals.
        The world is getting smaller by the day, and it is the only one we all have. We have been attacked repeatedly for decades, it is now time that this is brought to an end, and ignoring the problem, or walking away, is in no way a solution.
        THe tragedies that happen there are horrible. What if an organization in America started blowing up other Americans, and we couldn't stop it? WOuld you be angered by another country, perhaps Mexico, or Canada stepped in and tried to help? What if the monsters used innocent children as shields to protect themselves?
        Would you champion them or condemn them? Is the world not worth saving?

        and I suggest anyone that truely believes we can negotiate with terrorists, and believes when we pull out of Iraq they won't step up attacks, seeing what is happening in North Africa at the mere suggestion we'll be pulling out. I suggest those that believe negotiation is the right way, head right over and start the talks personally, let's see how much those of you that think we can just walk away, think we can talk them into not hating us and wanting to kill us, you go show us how easy it will be to accomplish this. And don't even start with telling me to join the military, especially if you haven't, been there, done that, a bit to old now, I'd go, but the goverment says I'm to old, so again, go show us chickenhawks how you can get terrorists to be nice by talking to them. I tend to think you believe what you see in the press, you use it to try to aid in your arguments here, so if you dont' believe the media, why use them as reference? you seem smarter than that, and also when you say that you seem rahter disingenuous.

  The insurgents ought to be able to get their killing rates up to several thousand a day without our interference.
  Every one ought to have learned from our Vietnam experience that restraining murderers is just plain wrong. We did the right thing in 'Nam. Fewer dead Americans more dead Vietnamese.
  I'm sure we can do the same for the Iraqis.

The surge is working! If you cannot attribute to (or understand) the sharp DECLINE in the # of coalition forces and Iraqi civilians being killed daily, to the increase in our brave Soldiers, then I can only deduce that you are of the group that believes that we should simply quit and pull all our troops out. How different would our world be if your voice would have been heard during WWII, when we lost Thousands of Men in a single day, not 3,000 in nearly 4 years! And, if you do not believe that radical muslim is just as dangerous to the free people of the World, as Hitler was during his reign, then i can only hope WHEN some future event occours that will prove that to you, that it does not take the lives of to many people, including both your loved ones and mine. The true, peace loving Muslims, MUST stand up and begin putting an end to the very small # of Radicals that are corrupting their religion and killing their innocents.
