Yep. The surge is already working. Fewer and fewer Iraqis to stand between us and all that oil.

Im not picking on you ET, but I would like this to be somewhere it will be read.
Every liberal on here is going to jump all over me, because I am the enemy. Not the person with the grenades and submachine guns in their living room, while their children starve, but the person who wants to stop them from killing.
Al Qaeda is in Iraq, and always has been, there is no question about that. There have been many mistakes along the way for this quest for a better world, but I have only seen efforts being made to fulfill this idea by one party.
I am firmly against the 2 party system, but I do want to live in a safer world.
It is impossible for all Americans, ("Infidels" as we are slandered, the Muslim equivalent for "******") to leave all Muslim territories.
If we try to pull out, everyone left behind is subject to murder. We cannot allow any religion to say that we are not allowed to set foot in half the world, because very soon afterwards, half won't be enough.

It another example of The Religion of Peace at work. They blow up Shiia because they aren't "real" Muslims.
The good news is that we can be sure that the Peaceful Believers will never attack us. So if we just leave them alone, all will be fine.
P.S. We may have to convert too but that's just a small detail and it won't be necessary until after the 08 election.

Lol...that's a good one. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chief strategist of George W. Bush's 2004 re-election campaign said he had lost faith in the U.S. president over Iraq and other issues, in a high-level rupture of Bush's famously loyal inner circle.
Matthew Dowd, a polling expert who switched parties to become a Republican and also served as a senior strategist in Bush's 2000 presidential campaign, told The New York Times in an interview on Sunday that Bush must face up to Americans' growing disillusionment with the war.

"Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called for restraint on Friday, urging Iraqis not to allow themselves to be divided by "evildoers"."
This leader is weak and suspect. Is he really trying to stop the fighting because I haven't read anything where he has held the vigilante police group accountable.

Do not fear. The surge is working. This is only one event that needs to be taken into the context of the many thousands of events that did not occur. (Do I get a job as a speach writer?)

Did the surge stop the attack? They need you help and support so join the army and give them a hand.

Can anyone here explain what the mission is now and how this brilliant new strategy will accomplish it? As explained so far it looks to this observer like a textbook way to fight fire with fire and exacerbate the Civil War.
We are told in the article:
"Before leaving Iraq last Monday at the end of his assignment, U.S. ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said U.S. and Iraqi officials had held contacts with Sunni Arab insurgent groups to build an alliance against al Qaeda."
It has became clear that during Saddam's rule there was in fact no Al Quaeda presence. Where is the factual evidence NOW that there is any Al Quaeda involvement? And if Al Quaeda is attacking Shiites why would the Sunnis be persuaded to attack Al Quaeda?? It seems more likely that lending support to the Sunnis will provide them with more resources with which to attack Shiites.

How long will it take?
What conditions must be in place for us to pull out of Iraq?
Only fools support pulling out? So what then, just keep flushing souls into an escalating war? Where is the progress?

Yes, I see what you mean, and for all the liberals out there who want to cut and run; wait until it happens in the USA it's only a matter of time! A second US civil war; Rep Vs Dem, Christian Vs Muslim.... Diversity of cultures and freedom, the very thing Americans praised and welcomed into their midst forging this country, just wait until it blows up in your face! Where's your separation of church and state then?

Ironic name you have - an old terrorist organization that butchered thousands.
"strongly supporting the concept of killing in the name of Christ"
Just as bad as killing in the name of Mohammed or Allah.

The 2nd civil war will not be dems vs reps or even christian vs muslim, it will be about the very rich versus the rest of us.
And the revolution will be televised.
And I say, let it happen in the US, at least then we will have a tangible enemy, a tangible goal.
What are we fighting for? Why are we fighting?
Consider, before you answer, wether your answer could be applied in a large number of other countries. Becuase if it can then the inevitable response will be, why isn't the war there?

>>Yes, I see what you mean, and for all the liberals out there who want to cut and run;
You want us to stay in the middle of a civil war that has NOTHING to do w/us? We attacked and occupied a Muslim country for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. And the longer we stay, the more angry the entire Muslim world will be.
>>wait until it happens in the USA it's only a matter of time! A second US civil war; Rep Vs Dem, Christian Vs Muslim....
Alright. This is just STOOOOOpid. You're saying that all Dems are Muslim & that the Muslims living peacefully in this country for DECADES will attack our gov't. If you'd take the time to look, you'll note that:
1) Most of the Dems I know ARE Christian
2) MOST of the Muslims in the US are African-Americans (42%), almost 2x the next group (S. Asians @ 24%). Arabs only make up 12% (see http://www.islam101.com/history/population2_usa...

I wont forget pre-Bush America. It was a time we enjoyed our prosperity by cashing in on the 'peace dividend' and purging our military of military personal--much that would be needed later. We partied until the stock market bust before we realized we have been swindled by corporations who doctored thier books. While Clinton was otherwise occupied in the oral office, there were bombings and attacks on hotels, embassies, and ships throughout the world from a Jihad ignored. As the UN remained feckless, allowing oil for food payoffs under Saddam hussein while thousands of his people died, Rwanda suffered a holocost of hundreds of thousands of people. We can even savor those last pre-Bush days when Clinton delayed the cooperation of transition with Bush because of disputed election results while some of Bin Ladens operatives had already arrived in preparation for 9/11!
Ahhh. Ignorance was bliss!

I think you're confused.
- The military draw-down started under HW Bush & contnued under Clinton & then the Rep-led Congress
- "While Clinton was otherwise occupied in the oral office" he was prosecuting those who perpetrated the 1st WTC bombing & investigating the other bombings
- While Congress was more concerned about his sex life, they did everything they could to stop him from persuing OBL
- If, as you say, the 9/11 perps were already in the US, WHY did W completely ignore a brief clearly titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US"?
- And, if you bring up Rwanda - which the world SHOULD have tried to stop - why don't you mention Darfur? We've known about it for almost W's entire term. Or the Israeli/Palestinian prob. He's the FIRST pres since Carter, if not before, to NOT try to help resolve.

What about numerous liberties that were guaranteed by a couple of "g.d. pieces of paper," but now are not?
You feel the way you do because you're not paying attention. Many people are, and they are outraged. I have to consider you an enemy of the USA, as I grew up understanding her. You represent the other side.

only an idiot with blinders on could still believe the surge is working.
again bush has made america look stupid. his rhetoric is the complete opposite of reality. talk about emboldening the enemy. every wrong step we take with bush at the helm does just that.
what a complete and utter failure bush is.
prayers to the victims and their families.

It's really pretty simple:
It's stupid to think you can stop people from killing each other if they want to, without killing them yourself-[as did the ruler we deposed and hung]
It was stupid to place yourself in role of 'good guy' liberator by killing thousands of thousands of people, it's stupid to think people who have 'resist the invader' as a tennet of their religion will accept an occupying presence with smiles, it's stupid to upset the delictae balance of the ME by siding with the Shia and then shake our fists at Shia Iran, and on and on.
So, since we re-elected Bush who has done all these stupid things, to the world, that makes us look stupid.
PS I don't pray. I guess I should have before I voted in '04
