What is Iran doing? I know that this administration is provoking... its been a neo-con wet dream for an all out war in the middle east justifying the militant eradication of islam's hold over the oil feilds... but iran? seriously? do they think they're impressing anybody? is this an attempt to boost national unity on the govts part? or are they really egging us on?

it looks to me like theyre ASKING for the US and Brittain to invade them. do they think it will awaken all the sleeping terror cells or call up some ally's to their side against the 'agressors?' it won't. it'll just wipe them off the face of the earth, and end in the west retaliating in a genocidal rage. they are toeing a dangerous line. they're about to get themselves and all their neighbors floored. and when we don't want to control the whole of the region we'll give it to Israel just to ****** them off....

who is siding with Iran, ease up with the rhetoric man, liberal this and liberal that...Iran is most likely commiting an act of aggression, I wasn't there fishing that day so I don't know where they were, I would like to believe the British and Us before I believe Iran, but we don't know, certainly Iran is making a provacative move here and it could lead to Iran's increased involvement in this conflict, not that they weren't involved already...I am not a liberal or an apologist for Iran, I will however say that none of this would be happening if we had not invaded Iraq and these types of events are going to continue to happen...for anyone to think a ridiculous 25,000 US troopos is going to change the situation in Iraq is absurd, this conflict has only room to get larger and more fragmented...this isn't black and white, it's very grey indeed...

Maybe things have changed, I don't know, but aren't soldiers instructed to give name, rank, and serial # only?

Sounds like torture to me. Or at least falsified confessions.

Or maybe they just DID accidentally or otherwise, entered their waters? Wouldn't we do the same if they entered ours? And maybe the soldiers simply said "Yes. It was an accident. Why did they have to be tortured to tell truth if there was no criminal intent involved?" Sheesh.

Really? It reeks of the Gulf of Tonkin incident to me.

I hope people don't believe this story. I am suprised that there isn't all kinds of reports of beatings and torture to get the confesions, Like there was in GITMO. This is just more proof the we are fighting in the wrong area. I agree with spikecwc

We should only fight in places where there will be no fighting. Other wise bad things could happen. Like fighting.

So tell you what. Instead of trying to help the people of Iraq we should help the people of Canada. They don't seem to like fighting.

This arrogance, displayed by the Iranians, led by their

maniacal leader, is an example of the growing audacity and

            rudimentary nature of these people.

If your neighbor kidnapped your dog for stepping onto his

lawn and wouldn't return him to you, would you be angry ?

Then you can imagine the intense anger the British feel over

            the abduction of their countrymen.

In light of this displayed mind set, it seems naive to think

that everything will fall into place if we leave Irag,

despite how wonderful an idea that seems, to leave those

idiots to their own miserable existance.

Still, no matter how long we stay in Iraq, as someone here

pointed out, it will never be safe for the people there for

us to leave, so, it makes sense for us to cut our loses

and to leave. If this sounds equivocal, it is, but it is

            also realistic and true.

what do you think the US response would be if iranian vessels came within miles of our coast?

Okay, so I'm no fan of Iran. But you don't see the arrogance and the prejudice in your statement. Iran is a sovereign nation whether you like it or not. If Iranians wandered too close to our waters, wouldn't we do the same. What makes them "audacious and rudimentary" in their actions, and us civilized. That's racist and assuming that because these people are Middle Easterners, whom you've been taught to not respect, they are not entitled to take the same actions we would take in similar circumstances, right or wrong. We have abducted several of their people who were actually invited by Iraqis to be there. Did you see anything wrong with that? Of course not. You don't like Iranians so therefore anything they do will be wrong to you. But don't pretend it's right. Until they've proven to have done something wrong, and we know the facts, we really don't have a right to judge.

just another probe from from the lunatic iranian fanatics--this should be dealt with harshly and decisively--like one cruise missle into a military base every 10 mins till these troops are released--then just go ahead and mak every 2 minutes--oops..times up--its what these people understand--and to them we ARE a paper tiger and more and more i fear they are right--this apparent weakness will only enbolden the iranian mullahs and their minions everywhere
