Sure wish that was the case, but far too many people view wildlife refuges as personal stomping grounds for things like Offroading, or Dumping garbage they were too cheap to pay to dispose of properly.

Just doesnt make sense to be cutting the funds, when its really a small figure. We blow that much on Halliburton Every week... Hell, just making a few contractors repay the money they overcharged would cover it.

I agree with you, many areas need it. However, his statement: "In this day and age, no land can really be left alone"... Some land has not seen footprints of man ever, except occasion helicopter. Especially Alaska.

Over 200 of the 547 wildlife refuges will be completely unstaffed. 6 officers are responsible for an area covering 4 states. This is unacceptable. But the neocons need to finance their money grabbing war somehow.

Hell-fire, a few people overseeing, millions of acres is plumb stupid, just open all the refuges up to hunting and off roading, anywhere all the time., the revenue will create millions of dollars and jobs., sportsmen spend more money than all the enviromentalists put together. You goddam tree huggers are ruining the whole outdoors for the rest of us.
