President Bush is visiting Enterprise, Alabama, where a tornado smashed a high school Thursday, killing eight teenagers. He pledged aid to victims of the storms. Earlier Bush, who's also going to storm-hit Georgia, said he knew "full well that I'll be seeing people whose lives were turned upside down by the tornadoes. I'll do my very best to comfort them."

Hopefully, for the sake of those people, he will do a better job than he did with Katrina.

The only problem with that assessment is that we KNEW katrina was coming and Nagin never ordered an evacuation prior to it coming. Thats dumb. Tornadoes dont give much if at all any warning. I dont like Bush but lets be fair Nagin orders no evacuation and some how W is responsible for NO? The national guard was called in by nagin a day or maybe even two days after katrina hit...dumb again.

what about the mid west getting hammered by blizzards and feet of snow? Dont they need some sort of emergency money too? Why is it that we always come back to NO? I thought since no state is better than another we should all be on the same level of importance no?

Bush is a phoney...anyone who invades a country just for oil,

lets our vets suffer and then pretends to care about his countrymen should be put away. Cheney too

Bush is a Republican,,, Hes figuring out how to make money of this. How many Repub friends can get contracts and split the money.

If this IDIOT can throw Billions to Iraq than he can throw 100 million to victims in our own country.

Albeit the standard sop of the Bush Bash from folks, I wish those any anyone that goes through a natural disaster well and a speedy recovery. My heart goes out to those that have lost loved ones as I'm sure is the same with Bush.

I pray everyone hurt by it, especially the families of children killed and injured find the love and strength to endure.

As for Bush bashing...it's simply holding the person we hired as our chief executive accountable.

George seems to be doing the right thing. Possibly he replaced some of his slow-thinking advisors.

I think you're confused about who the slow thinker is...lol. Hopefully, all the 'good-ole boy' pals he put into offices as political favors have all been about fired by now and hopefully someone competent now has those jobs. Either way Bush made the original mistake...either he assigned slow thinkers or he bought people off with government jobs. Take your pick...stupid or unethical. The commanding officer is responsible for everything his people do or fail to do. He's never off the hook until he's either done the job right, resigned or been fired.

I wish everyone well. And I hope the system works better for them than it has in the past.

KelLuv, it is amusing to see you compare Bush and Nagin to Dumb and Dumber and then proceed to slaughter the use of words to get your point across. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black...

          Example:

Seeing Bush wanting to help these people is like seeing the movie DUMB AND DUMBER--staring Bush and Nagan...... (Shouldn't it be starring?)

The less GOVERNMENT is out of this the better.

(The less GOVERNMENT is out of this the better contradicts your original point.) Shouldn't it read: The less Government is involved, the better it will be for the victims.

If I am wrong, and you truly meant those statements, such as staring Bush and Nagin, or actually having less Governmentout of this, whatever this refers to, then I apologize.

Otherwise, retract your statements and go back to school and finish 5th grade.

engagedbrain - engaged in what? What brain?

The economy certainly improved when corporate taxes were cut. Dividends went up, prices stayed down, employment went up. It seems to work better than the Dems idea of sucking every bit of cash they can from everyone who has any, so they can't invest, can't build businesses and can;t hire employees.

The Dems have plenty of graft and corruption in their history too. Integrity? That varies by the politician. We all try to choose the one we think has the most, unfortunately they seldom get nominated. Forbes would have been good, he was already rich from his publishing business and had good ideas, but he looked odd, parted his hair in the middle and wore a bow tie.

Sometimes there are non-bid contracts because the company that was doing the work was good and reliable and you want them to do the job rather than take a chance on a lower bidder who'll screw it up.

Disengage your brain from left gear and go somewhere.

Bush is sooooooo good at acting...acting sincere and sad and asking people of faith to pray, etc.

I wish he were simply competent and delivered. Fortunately, this is a lot smaller problem that Katrina...closer to a Governor's job than a President's, maybe he can actually deliver...lol.

Maybe prayer will help, but I do not see how prayer puts a roof over someone's head. How does prayer help feed the hungry? Yammering to God is not always the answer. Sometimes it takes good old WORK. Sometimes we humans need to take action and accountability. Let God sort out the details.

Sorry Bravo. Katrina was a Governors job, and a Mayors' job..first. They failed, miserably. When The President saw that FEMA wasn't doing its' job, The President did his job, and replaced the FEMA director.

This is not a dictatorship. The President, Dem or Repub does not have total authority over a state. This is not The U.S. Army. As you well know, The Army is not a Democracy, (or even a republic.)

Asking people to pray is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is a virtue. Perhaps, you'd suggest that those people without a roof..wait just a few more years longer while the blame game is played on. I can agree that President Bush is possibly the worst at communicating that I've seen in a long while. I don't however, think he is The Anti-Christ, or that he has no reedeming values.

Katrina. A tough, politically charged disaster. Iraq. A successful War, and a fledgling democracy.

I see on CNN it says Bush is asking for donations...lol. The most powerful chief executive in the world...and he's asking for donations. P!$$ing away the national treasury on a failed foreign policy, sending the National Guardsmen to Iraq who would otherwise have been available to help with disaster recovery... Maybe he should ask the contractors who failed to complete their jobs in Iraq to use the extra profits they pocketed to come in and rebuild in the US...

No, better yet, he should ORDER the contractors who failed to fulfill their contracts in Iraq to rebuild in these areas and in NOLA...or nationalize their assets. It would get something done, it would hold the contractors accountable and it would solve the problem...but instead he's going to encourage prayer and ask for donations. How worthless.
