A vast human cull is under way in Zimbabwe and the great majority of deaths are a direct result of deliberate government policies. Ignored by the United Nations, it is a genocide perhaps 10 times greater than Darfur's and more than twice as large as Rwanda's.

So what?!? At least he got rid of all of those evil white men that happened to be good at growing food they need, but f*** 'em, they're white and had to go!

If Zimbabwe had huge oil reserves, the world would be crying out in horror. But like most of poor Africa, it hardly gets a footnote.

But isn't it great that years ago they stopped being a white run country and were left to their own devices.

tragically....They are harvesting what they have sown. As usual, the innocent, and the young suffer the most. What can the rest of the world do? If we send money, it just goes into Mugabe's pocket. We send food, it gets re-sold on the black market and the money goes into Mugabe's pocket. A truly horrible situation of nightmarish proportions.

"Dreaming I Saw Death At Cafe Zimbabwe"

An open Rondeau by the Conqueror Wyrm

          .

I saw Death in Africa last night wielding a bloody scythe,

Reaping through rows of children once concieved with hopeful seed

In a harvest too horrid to be seen but in my dreams.

For a garden of stone to mark the bones of victims sprang forth

From every drop of human blood to spill upon the Earth.

          .

          Bio-chemical warfare waged in the stomache of a waif;

Her dark eyes tragic, beautiful in a drawn mask of despair.

Into those eyes, as deep, as rich as pools of Iraqi tea,

          I saw Death.

          .

Despair poured out upon the ground the last decanter of Hope

While Misery sipped her tea sweetened with a touch of Fear.

          Not far away, Tragedy and Lord Hunger sat to chat;

Much was discussed, the Human Race, a little of this and that...

And sitting around waiting as if with amusement on his mind,

          I saw Death.

As the article points out, "South Africa's President Thabo Mbeki, who has covered for Mugabe from the beginning, uses his leverage to prevent discussion..." at the UN.

Can we at least get it on the table? Is there no nation brave enough to demand an investigation?

Lordy, lordy, this is so awful.

Actually many of the Black churches in America have done much to help the children of Africa - A few that readily come to mind are Bishop Charles BLake and the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles - Denzel Washington and family are members there and have done quite a bit.

And of course, Ophrah Winfrey just opened a 40 mil school in SOuth Africa - these folks are doing things where it counts most in the country where generations will be affected - not taking one child out at a time, which has no impact on future generations!

This has been going on in Zimbabwe for years. It's only just now getting to the point where most people are starting to see it. Mbeki isn't the only one who still sees Mugabe as some sort of "hero" who fought against white colonial rule, and therein lies the problem.

It just doesn't matter what country it is; those African leaders all seem to be content to destroy the people. Is that like an illness that's indigenuous to Africa or what? It's been what? 100? 200? years since British rule ended? So far the Africans aren't doing a good job in governing themselves. W/the wars and HIV Africa will soon become a continent w/no people in it and wild animals roaming everywhere. Then we can just go over there and take all the oil we need.

I prefer less sophisticated poetry and second hand quotes like a people should never fear their government, government should fear their people or

Any time you place your faith in a "Strong Man" regardless of color or politics there will always be tyranny and death...The infrastructure of this country collapsed because a simple minded strongman who gives a **** about no one came to power. Men like this understand how to imtimidate and control people but have no clue how to govern and are to egotistical to ask for help when they are in over there heads.

There must always be checks and balances that value valid institutions and ideas over individual ambition and human rights over "traditional values" Sometimes the best man needs to lose

Zimbabwe us a story of uncaring power. Mugabe will either

be killed or will take his millions and go to another

country. It is sad that some churches have given money

to this rotten place, never to reach the people who need it.

What a horrible nightmare. As usual the young and sick are paying the price. I agree with the thoughts that we (we being the average citizen) are at a loss as to what to do because government money never gets to those that truely need it and food cannot get to these people when this mad man running the country will not allow anyone in.I don't care if this country has oil, they have suffering people and I wish I were smart enough to come up with an answer or a way to help these people. I wonder why senator Obama who is from Africa does not make the plight of some of these people an issue? Seems to me he would be a good source of information and an ear in Washington to try to help. How about it? If the pen is mightier than the sword lets write to this senator and ask him ? Perhaps its at least a place to start.

Eventually The Red Party will invade and take over much if not all of Africa, making China the #1 force in the world. I'm not for communism but at least the people in China are feed and able to have small communities lead of course by a party member. The US won't get involved because there is nothing in it for us. China is planning world domination. Just wait.
