Dec. 22, 2006, 5:10 a.m.It's so sad when this happens around the holidays to people and I think this was the fault of United and their bad scheduling, you can't control mother nature. If you are delayed for more than a stipulated number of hours because of events described in your travel insurance brochure policy, such as common carrier delays; traffic accidents; weather conditions; lost or stolen money or travel documents; natural disasters; terrorism; etc., you should be paid the benefits provided by your policy.
These benefits will usually include money to help you to return home or rejoin your trip. They may also include compensation for any unused and nonrefundable portion of your trip.
