Aug. 13, 2006, 10:25 a.m.So Much for the Annan and the Useless Nations. 2000 troops stationed in the "neutral" zone since 1978, and now the Useless Nations are adding another 13,000?? What has the Useless Nations done in the area since 1978?? How come there has been fighting on a smaller scale since then?? How come it took the Annan and the Useless Nations a month to garner enough huevos to act on the very situation they were chartered to do?? Will the cease fire hold, doubtful, since Annan and the Useless Nations,in almost every conflict on our world they have been sent to results in poor treatment of those who can least defend themselves and as in Africa, leave a trail of AIDS, rape and pillage, where they are "supposed" to "keep the peace". And, the Useless Nations are supposed to keep the world peaceful??? I know one thing, they are sure costing the United States a ton of money to keep Annan and company in the style to which they wish to become accustomed.

Aug. 13, 2006, 10:27 a.m.This gives the Islamic murderers time to regroup and rearm. The UN is a worthless, corrupt organization, they should move their Headquarters to the Islamic section of Lebanon in the middle of their friends the rest of the anti-semites

Aug. 13, 2006, 10:45 a.m.I agree with the above. The new UN resolution is pretty much a repeat of the existing one where the terrorists were to be disarmed and were not.
The UN sat around and watched the terrists build up their rocket supply, build their re-enforced fighting positions, create their "hidi holes" among the civilian housing and appartments. Oh yes, they did mention that they took notes and created reports that were not sent anywhere about what they observed!
I guess time will tell. Israel has been able to prove that with "limited civilian" casualties that they can go door to door and destroy the Terrorists (killers of children).
By the way did you hear on the news this week-end that the two doctored photos have turned into almost 1,000 and the number is growing?
The "smoke and mirrors" of the media is beginning to fall apart. Maybe we will hear truth, instead of statements that have little truth in them!
A picture = 1,000 words x 1,000 pics = 1,000,000 media lies!

Aug. 13, 2006, 11:56 a.m.Only Lebanon and Israel are nations and UN members, Hezbollah is not. Hezbollah cannot sign cease-fires or treaties of peace because they are not a government. A UN peacekeeping farce [pun intended] will be helpless to stop and disarm Hezbollah. Many UN soldiers will die and Hezbollah will continue to attack Israel. Send in UN troops that will attack and disarm all non-government forces. Put the Lebanese government in charge, make them responsible for peace after the UN gradually pulls out. Then if there are attacks on Israel it will be the Lebanese government that can be held responsible and accountable, even if those attacks are done by Hezbollah, because the government did not stop them.
There have always been Jews living in the area now called Israel. It is their homeland. When millions of other Jews joined them, they fought to become a nation again. Many of the Moslems ran away, abandoning their lands. Israel has the right to exist as much as any other nation.

Aug. 13, 2006, 12:02 p.m.How long until we realize that it is not in the US's best interest to remain a part of the UN? Without our participation the UN would cease to exist as a legitimate organization.
Now, there is further proof that the UN does not hold any legitimacy except to screw things up. Israel was desimating Hezbollah and now they will have time to regroup and rearm thanks to the "Useless Nations".
However, this was not totally suprising that they would do something like this. Except for a few, the UN is nothing but a bunch of anti-Semitic, dictator appeasing, rich boys. Thus, this is just in line with their true agenda.
Any bets that this "Cease-fire" lasts the week?

Aug. 13, 2006, 12:26 p.m.Just because Nasrallah (sp?) said so, does not make it so. If anyone expects Hezbollah to disarm themselves in Southern Lebanon they are sorely mistaken. The lies now being told by them have been told before. They will not disband or relinquish what little control they now have. They will slither around for a while until they can find another way to attempt to discredit and/or destroy Israel. Then they will once again raise their ugly heads and spit their venom. The UN is powerless against them. Israel on the other hand is not. If Israel should decide to "Kiss-off" the UN and it's pressure to cease, then, and only then, could Hezbollah be quieted. And even that would not last.
This hatred of the Nation of Israel has been going on since time began. What makes anyone think that there will ever be a "Permanant" or even a "Lasting" cease fire?

Aug. 13, 2006, 12:31 p.m.And when the first shots are fired, the French will be leading the retreat.
I think relocating the UN to Paris would be a very good idea. Let the French support the corruption.

(If Israel should decide to "Kiss-off" the UN and it's pressure to cease, then, and only then, could Hezbollah be quieted. And even that would not last.)
I am not sure why, there is this fascination with force deployment in assymetrical warfare situations. Despite example after example of conventional force inability to control or eliminate 'insurgents'or 'terrorists', or 'non-governmental combatants'. There remains this belief that somehow that just one more push will do it.
Meanwhile 50 years of counterinsurgency work has shown that this just not happen. Not to mention, the effect that recent events in Afhghanistan and Iraq should have caused.
In the end the only solutions that have a chance of succeeding are ones that a)discredit the insurgents, terrorists, etc, in the eyes of the local population or b)provide a political solution that encapsulates the goals and aspirations of the combatants.

Aug. 13, 2006, 1:57 p.m.Are you against terrorism?
Are you ready for the test?
Although I cannot remember the exact words, a recent official American report has defined terrorism as an action made by an armed group against civilians to put pressure in order to obtain political gain.
They did not say that the group should be a guerilla; they can also be an army
They did not say the group should be Arab or Moslem; they can also be US or their allies.
Looking at what Israel has done, and the explicit words of their PM commenting the destruction they made in Lebanon:
THIS IS PURE TERRORISM.
Hezbollah action that triggered all this was against SOLDIERS, illegally occupying part of Lebanon.
THIS IS NOT TERRORISM.
