If those Lebanese being blown up were in vitro fetuses yet to be implanted THEN our president would give a damn.

I love people who blast away on impulse. Notice how the poster has children on it. Seems to me that you're not good with words.

          "WE ARE ALL HIZBULLAH"?

Wow, leftist protesters usually deny that they support the terrorists. It's refreshing (and disturbing) to see such honesty, for a change.

              Hey Truth,

I understand your point about the children, innocents are ALWAYS victims in war. But may I ask you a question? Are you Hezbollah? I´m not. Often times organizations with their own agenda use hot button issues to mobilize the public in their own protest activity to make it appear as though more people are on their side than is really the case; note the quote from the organizer and their group. This tactic has been used so many times in so many different places I could not begin to count them. I live in Belgium and the Palestinian lobby regularly rallies otherwise decent people to demonstrate (for various reasons) in front of SHAPE headquarters. Ususally these protests are for Peace and violence almost always ensues. What´s happening in Lebanon right now is a tragedy for the innocents but isn´t it time the Western powers didn´t weigh in on a regional issue?

Amazing that anyone who dislikes war is automatically considered a leftist. With that in mind, your comment doesn't exactly flatter the rightwing, does it? In fact, NONE of this flatters us, on the whole, as humans.

                  Stephen Johnson,

Good point. It depends on the attitude of the populace however. For example: in the south (French speaking) region of Belgium the arabs are a major problem but in the north (Flemish speaking) region, their behavior and attitudes are much closer to the norm (i.e.: better assimilated.) Thank goodness the Belgian government is getting serious about immigration before the locals get overrun. Many readers will assume I am a right winger, I assure you I am not but facts on the ground are facts on the ground, only the willfully blind will ignore the truth about what´s really going on. I personally have been attacked and beaten by a group of Arabs in Mons and they didn´t even know I was American since I speak French. I visit Flanders a lot and there is NO tension there.

Supporting hezbullah shows their dislike for war!? Are you sure you want to go with that one?

And in anycase I call them leftists because the're spouting DNC slogans "waaa we're isolated, waa Bush is the real enemy, etc.".

"With that in mind, your comment doesn't exactly flatter the rightwing, does it?"

I'm not sure what you mean, I think the right supporting a democratic government against a terrorist agressor is certainly a good thing.

You reap what you sow. Leave rattlesnakes alone and they won't bother you. Hezbollah messed with Israel and they got what they deserve: war. Oddly, I don't hear any liberals coming to the aid of Israelis along the same line of reasoning about United States invaders being attacked in Iraq because they invaded someone else's country. I guess it's okay for militant Muslims to attack another country but the U.S. and Israel shouldn't defend themselves.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume something silly, that you actually believe Hezbollah is the lone aggressor here, and that Israel didn't overreact to the kidnapping of ONE soldier with an out-and-out full scale bombing campaign, for that and that alone is the only explanation why you, or any casual observer, would conclude that somehow Israel is purely the victim, period. Also, I will assume you have no idea our government just rush-ordered bombs to Israel to further their "whack-a-mole" bomb runs and kill more civilians, which last I check makes them alive, so with all that on the table how does our president have the gall to say "no government money will be spent to take human life" when that is where MOST of our government’s money has gone these past 3+ years?

Just looking for a little consistency in Bush’s policies. I haven’t found any yet, except one: MADNESS.

                                        To Fantagor:

                                        1. Hezbollah is backed by Iran and Syria so the're certainly not the 'lone agressor', but yes this mess is defenetely not Israel's fault.

                                        2. You're mixing up Hamas (who kidnapped a soldier) and Hezbullah who kidnapped two, killed a bunch more and shelled Israeli cities (yet according to you Israel can't respond by bombing them because they just want piece).

                                        3. I'm well aware of the bombs being sold and think it's great that we have an administration which actually supports our allies instead of pressuring them to appease terrorists. Oh the're precison guided bombs designed to reduce civilian casualties.

                                        4. Bush said that "no government money will be spent to take human life" in the context of the stem cell bill, meaning "innocent life", but you already knew that. Oh and Israel removing or even damaging Hezbullah, Hamas and the like saves more far more lives in the longrun.

Can you blame Hezbullah for having rockets or Iran for wanting to have a nuclear weapon after the unfettered bombing campaign of Lebanese civilians which most of the world sees as a gross overreaction. A counterweight to Israel is needed in the region and then maybe Israel would think twice before acting in such a barbaric manner. And now the announcement today that the White House is 'rushing' more bombs to Israel shows (while there are still about 20,000 Americans in Lebanon in proximity to the bombings! .. sure the US cares more about our citizens than they do about Israeli citizens) --- I see no difference between that and Iran/Syria supplying the Hezbullah. I am sick and tired of the US supporting Israel without impunity -- I don't blame the Arabs for hating the US.

Hey - Consider the beauty of the situation. Israel will use up mega-tons of milatary equipment and ordnance during this exercise. In turn, they will use their foreign aid to restock it from the US. Then we can pay those folks who work in our remaining manufacturing jobs so they can shop at Wal-mart for all the products from China. In addition we will be sending humanitarian aid to Lebanon. Is there any way to print the Koran on the TP before it is delivered?

Lebanon said that they would get rid of Hezbollah and they didn't come through on their promise. The Israeli bombing campaign is designed to pin down Hezbollah and prevent their supporters (Iran and Syria) from reinforcing them. You complain when Israel accidently kills civilians but how about when Hezbollah murders an Israeli civilian with their rockets or when Hezbollah crosses into Israeli territory, murders eight soldiers, and kidnaps two. The terrorists have been provoking Israel for years and it is a huge testament to Israel's civility and restraint that they waited this long to resort to such destructive (yet necessary) methods.
